Just a quick stroll tonight. Didn't do much of anything other than fire up the dehumidify mode in the flower room. Now that it is sealed up the humidity had slowly been climbing. It reached 70% today. I'm ok with 55% so it'll run tonight and it'll be back to normal. They were watered yesterday so that contributes to it being high. Everyone have a good night. Time to light up so Northern Lights Blue which has cured nicely from a horrible smelling strain. It has actually become a favorite.

I really don't think there is a reason we dry them in the dark. We have a fan in the tent. Lights are off to save power. Lol!

some wash their buds then hang/dry them while lights are on I'm thinking to help photosynthesis to finish..then cure normally.

Yes, there is a very good reason we dry our herb in the DARK!....4 things degrade THC....air, light, heat and time! This is why we dry in the dark! Drying in the light is , IMO counter productive...buts that's just me! Cheers gang!

Yes, the light does matter! Dry in the dark...bin doing it this way since the beginning of time. Light degrades THC , period. Doc has just begun to do that too! Just cuz he does this doesn't mean it's right ! He has his reasons...I have mine. Dark is best for drying herb! Cheers Canna!
 
Yeah on the subject if one was conserned with smell and didnt wanna get extra filter i think a box inside the grow room in a cool vented spot should be just fine or? What do you guys think i was thinking on the subject lately. Good growing and info everyone, thanks.:Namaste:

Yeah you could make a drying box quite easily if you have the space. We use a 2x4 tent and it can hold a little over a pound in that space on hangers. That's with them spaced out enough so they are not touching. So depending on how much you plan on drying at once would determine how big. Ours hang off of one bar at the top and we string buds down a couple feet to utilize the height to fit it all in there.

Or you could have a box and a drying rack in there. You are looking for room temperature, Dark, 50% - 65% humidity and you will be spot on. Once our RH starts to drop, they are to the point of jarring. :thumb:
 
Yes Ketama, Nis is spot on with his words! There is NO reason why you can't do that. Just make sure things are just how Nis says and youl be golden!:thumb::high-five:
 
I am a light on dryer as well, right at the edge of the garden about 4 feet away from the plants. I have always felt that the plants were alive and it was a little bonus using up nutes and putting them in a crazy state where the trichs may swell. Once they are dead though they go to the dark to finish. Still I respect Duggan as well, the man knows his stuff!

everyone can try in light and dark..taste them and see..if you have testing abilities..see if its dogma or actually is a difference.. :thumb:

..and yes...duggan knows his stuff..

So, the argument is - Light let's the plant finish growing OUT, especially the trichs, after its been chopped. (even though plants grow at night without light. But is it the wrong growth for a dying flower.)

Dark prevents the THC from deteriorating as light slowly degrades the integrity of the THC.

Each contradicts the other, eh? Or did I miss something.
