Welcome All My Friends To The Show That Never Ends - Canna M & Nismo12 Team Up!

I have seen translucent ones. They're not quite clear, but they do let a lot of light through. I used one for rooting cuttings in my main room a few times (the lid provided some shade, and kept the humidity up).

Anyone but black allows UV rays through, which is why grow pots are all black. Any other color will allow algae to grow inside the pot.

I often was like, hey, black is dumb, it absorbs heat, why not make pots white? This is why. However, why not make the outside white and the inside black? A new hydro company in UK did just that, all their tubes as well. This lowers the temp of the water in the grow room, for those that are into all the DWC and such.

But yeah, red cups can allow algae to grow as well. It would take longer than clear cups.

I never really noticed it in Mountain Dew bottles. I cannot say that there was never any algae - but I've dumped plenty of perlite (et cetera) out of them after harvest and didn't notice it being overrun with colonies.

Lol. When I used didn't have green ones and used cola bottles (clear) instead, I'd paint them black, give it a few days to cure a little, then paint them white for just that reason. I never tried doing a side-by-side comparison between black (only) and white over black to see which was better, but since the area was generally warm enough, I assumed that the ones I did would have been better than just black. IDK, though. Seems to make sense to me.

fish tank..terrarium :)

Oh jeez... I have an old 10 gallon acrylic fish tank, didn't even cross my mind. The worst part of that is it's in my grow room and I see it nearly every day.

<SCRATCHES HEAD> But opaque is, by definition, pretty much the opposite of clear.

I've always taken it to mean anything that is less than 100% clear. Google gave this definition, example, and synonyms: adjective
1.
not able to be seen through; not transparent.
"the windows were opaque with steam"
synonyms: nontransparent, cloudy, filmy, blurred, smeared, smeary, misty, hazy

Anyway, in my typical fashion, I didn't get that plant topped last night. Tonight's the night for sure, unless I do it tomorrow night or Saturday.

I guess that's yet another example that Google is not just a data-mining monster, lol, but also the virtual equivalent of a moronic one.

Clear is at one end of the scale and opaque is at the other. In between is translucent (as is the example in quotation marks that Google incorrectly gave for opaque). Not able to be seen through and not transparent are not necessarily incorrect, but they are somewhat misleading. Perhaps it is better to look (lol) at the subject as a question of whether or not light will pass through something - and if so, how much. (More or less) 100% is transparent, 0% is opaque, and "some amount" is translucent. If a thing is translucent, it'll allow some amount of light to pass through, but one cannot see things clearly when looking through it. Err... rambling again (sorry).

Hey CannaM and Nismo! My jaw always drops when I visit your thread. You guys have so much going on! That Crown Royal is freaking stacked! Why did you leave so many leaves on though? Wont there be less light penetration? Hope you're doing well. Just picked up some Purple Romulan, the purpleness is off the charts. I rolled a party sized joint for any that would like to partake :passitleft:

The crown royale will be getting played with today. As will most of them. Today is my first day off in a couple weeks and I want to take advantage of it.

It was difficult to come on here when I was in a horrible mood. I'm just tired of being tired. Lol

Just the other day we made a few purchases to upgrade our rooms. We picked up a RO water system so that we don't have to worry about getting 5 gallon jugs for the brix chix. We also picked up a couple more 20 amp breakers and some wire and such as we will be adding more outlets to evenly distribute the load. Then trying to decide about which light to get, if we need to have 240v run there.

There has also been talks of wrapping the entire room in panda film.

So upgrades upgrades upgrades. :thumb:

Good morning C and N....hope you feel better Canna....you too Nis..hope your rested and not too bagged from all your hard work!Couple things guys.....with those 20Amp cir. breakers , make sure you run #12 wire OK. #14 is only good for 15 Amps...ya need to go one size larger for 20's. As far as 240V. Try and just get a 120 v light...makes everything easier OK. Some people think by going to 240 V or a higher voltage they will use less electricity...NOT true. When using 240 , your now using TWO hot lines instead of one , so now it's not so cheap...know what i mean. Have a great day off you guys!:Namaste::high-five::circle-of-love:

Yeah we got 12/3 wire. I asked a sparky at work what we should use. At first we wanted to go with just one 50 amp and be done with it. But having 2 -20s will be more versatile. Oh and the 240v would be run for a gavita. @LEDRF made me a deal on a PS1000 that'll be hard to pass on, so the gavita is out. The heat would be higher and uses twice as much power as the ps1000. Have a light mover on the way already as well.

Have a good day duggs. First wake and bake in almost a month lol. :passitleft:
