Welcome All My Friends To The Show That Never Ends - Canna M & Nismo12 Team Up!

:thedoubletake: WHAT?? lol That certainly is an interesting fact Duggan, I never knew this. I've been growing for a few years and never actually realized this. I have noticed that the tap root sort of pigtails if you let it get to long before planting, would this be the same thing that it's trying to do?

Yes Dick, if you waste a seed and just watch it over a couple days you will see it try and do this as you said. It's a genetic thing that ALL cannabis seeds do when planted but with that in mind , like I said before it doesn't really matter cuz I don't care who you are ...you will NOT be able to see that you've done this and the seed is pointing down...it just doesn't matter. What does matter A LOT though is ..as soon as the shell splits a little...just a wee bit..get it in soil , pronto...don't wait for the root to come out...it's wasting very valuable energy doing that and we want ALL it's energy to go into breaking the surface. Cheers eh!

Thought I would swing by and share this with you all.

:passitleft:

Good info man! Thanks for sharing. I myself like to wait until the tap root just barely pokes out enough so I know which direction it's pointing when it gets covered up. I will try pointing the root end up on my next couple of beans here next week sometime.

As for germination in general, I like to soak the beans for 12-16 hours in room temp water in a glass, then place in paper towels until they crack and show just the tip of the tap root, then I always planted 1/2" - 3/4" deep depending on the medium and just very lightly pad it down on top of the seed. Haven't had any problems yet :)

Hope all is well in the world for Canna and Nismo this evening. Keeping green in here that's for sure :) Keep up the great work you 2.

Hey everyone. Just popping in to say hello.

Hiya, toots! (I don't get to "say" that very often ;) . )

A little birdie told me that when it falls from the plant at the end of the season, it's flip a coin as to which end lands on the bottom. I suppose the same is true for when an animal eats a bud and craps the seed out afterwards.

'tis true about the root, though. You can observe it without wasting a seed by planting it right up against the side of a plastic soda pop bottle. I'd use a Mountain Dew one - the (green) light that gets through doesn't seem to harm the tender rootlet.

Roots are funny things. There's probably a reason for their behavior, one that caused plants which evolved with the trait to be favored. But I really don't know what it is. Unless it's just a gravity-seeking kind of thing, and it takes that little bit of time to "figure it out" (yeah, I know, they're even less conscious than the average mouth-breather :rolleyes3 ) . I've always wanted to see the results of a cannabis seed germination experiment performed in orbit - but no one seems to have performed one as of yet. The feebies are probably afraid it'd end up being the one plant that'd thrive wonderfully in zero gravity....

Did that include their three-part nutrient line? I'd like to see a journal that used those.

We have devil's carnival success!

Still has her battle helmet on but she will she'd that soon enough since she is in a safe place...until she gets forced to become a dude! Had another with a tap root that went into the dirt tonight as well. So that is 3 confirmed tap roots and planted. :thumb:

Here's a picture of the brix chix going on 2 weeks now. The blue dream will be topped sometime this weekend. She shorter since she was under the led we got from twilight, and I've noticed it keeps stretch down....a lot. Every plant that's been under it was extremely compact. She got moved out to the T5s so she can stretch up.

Here's one of the 1 gallon white cookies. She is about to go to flower...soon. Watering her right now isn't bad but that means she will be root bound soon. It'll be fun.

Just something quick tonight. Working all weekend so tons of hours so far. Everyone have a great night!

..

I have a few bag seeds...and a camera system I am not using yet...all I need is a mountain dew container. I wonder if I see a small fabric pot with a clear plastic "window" I can still see a film. That way no mountain dew is wasted to film this....cuz I don't drink the stuff.
As soon as I am feeling better I think I will do this.

So much to learn....so many journals to follow
