Yeah I don't know bud. It just sucks that it happened with seeds that we only have one of.
I know the feeling. I recently had the opportunity to go on the grand journey (through multiple states) to visit a fellow forum member in person and to be gifted a grow tent. As their kindness knows no bounds, I was also sent home with some genetics. Several are one seed per strain, so I'm trying to decide which of them to plant - and I have that worry.
My only (attempted) foray into the autoflower world was one that I usually don't admit too, lol... Low quality, low yield, tiny little plant, and I both overfed and under-lit (both in terms of watts per square foot and DLI) the thing. But one of the little packets contains several seeds, and it's marked "auto-flower." It's also marked as a
mix, though, so I cannot guarantee that any one seed will have a "sister" - but maybe... I guess I need to find the "Idiot's Guide to Your First Auto-Flowering Plant" FAQ
. I might, to further complicate matters, try growing it in some CHEAP "fortified" organic soil I picked up two or three weeks ago. It's black, doesn't really have any more sticks in it than the Happy Frog soil did, actually
looks pretty decent (smells okay, too) mixed 3:1 with perlite... and is available. But IDK the pH and it has fertilizer in it. So it could end up being "a little" hot for seedlings, then run out of everything towards the end except for nitrogen which, knowing my luck, it could have an overabundance of at that point, lol. But... available.
The hand-written label states that the seeds are Crop King's Autoflowering Mix. Looks like they have about nine a-f strains, so... Or I could try to germinate a Blueberry x White Widow (not auto-flowering) seed. If I try that one, I have a tiny bit of Happy Frog left that I could use for seedling soil; I am thinking that I should place a-f strains in their final pot to begin with, so it'd be in the discount soil I suppose. Or there are a few other choices. Decisions, decisions... It just occurred to me that I won't be in a vegetative light cycle here forever (another month or less), so... IDK.
Sorry, just rambling. I wish to thank my benefactor by name, but do not know the member's thoughts on that, so...
Ongoing grows bugs suck. I've more than once thought of releasing peditory mites, but I guess they only really work once your about mitte free. Hey it wood be worth it if they surived and populated a veg room... Least I been thinking. Prices of them have gotten alot cheaper. I'm seriously thinking of turning a bag lose at the next flip I start. Waste of 35$ ?
Well... I'd think that if you started a grow mite-free, they wouldn't have much (anything?) to eat, lol. IF you have plenty for them to eat, they should be fine (assuming they are compatible with your expected temperature range - different strains of predators like different temperatures). But I would kind of expect the populations of both the predators and the critters that they eat to stabilize at some point. And the predator's food-source... will be eating, too
