Godfather OG Cut.
Yesterday I saved the top of one of the Godfathers in water. Today I cut it fresh at an angle and scraped up the last inch and a half, then dipped it in Dipngrow ala
@InTheShed 's advise. Then into very wet ProMix BX.
The clear cup was the same size as the green one or red whatever, so I made a hinge from a piece of Gorilla Tape and it seems to keep a tight seal.
A spray of water into the cup and over the top it goes.
And here she sits under a cfl light.
This is close to the method that I learned from
@beez0404 over at his Colombian Gold journal. It's a very information rich journal! In a few days I'll remove the top to push her into making roots for 20 minutes, then re spray and replace. As I go along I'll keep you posted for the on/off times for the lid. All to promote root growth. My Gratitude to Beez and Shed.
CLONING BY BEEZ0404
So I had a chance to bring Beez's knowledge here in condensed form. Here it is minus pics.
CLONING ala BEEZ0404 Thanks Beez!
Here is a list of items I use, in no particular order:
1. A sharp razor knife........I use it to cut the cutting off of the plant and to shave the bottom of the stalk.
2. Bottle of Rubbing Alcohol......It might be overkill but clean clean clean your tools with alcohol often.
3. A bottle of Clonex Solution and virtually any brand rooting powder/rooting hormone
4. You'll need a medium in which to grow your roots on your cuttings. For me it works out easy because I use ProMix BX which has no nutrients in it. And it does have Mycorrhizae which help the plant uptake necessary nutrients. I buy this in 25lb bags and use it for cuttings, seedlings, and all the way through harvest. If this is not available to you then you should be able to find a bag of Seed Starting Soil at Wal-Mart or another big box store. Just look for the lowest NPK, preferable none at all. I do not like peet moss, to me it's such a pain.
5. Solo Cups.......I start with a clear solo cup and a red solo cup, the same size, and punch holes around the bottom edge of both cups. Solo also now makes a smaller clear cup which I use as a dome over the plant. The smaller ones fit right into the larger cups. Now if you can't find the smaller ones you can use a regular sized clear cup for a dome. Just put a piece of tape from the dome to the red cup like a hinge. Not as perfect as the smaller cups but it works just fine.
6. PH Up and PH Down............It's important that the PH level of the Clonex Solution mixed with water is spot on. I've found it makes a big difference in my success rate when cloning.
7. A flat bottom pan in which you can sit the solo cups when saturating the medium. Catch all the runoff and not make a mess. I use an aluminum turkey pan I bought at Wal-Mart. Does the job.
Other then a mature plant from which you can take cuttings I believe that's all you'll need.
Let's get ready to produce some beautiful, healthy clones. And remember, every clone you grow is one less seed you have to buy. It's all about not having to buy seeds. Striving to be self sufficient, Breed your own seeds, trade seeds you've made with friends to expand your strain base.
And here's Phase 2 quote from Beez
Here is my suggestion. Pick a day when you'll be home all day. First thing in the morning take the dome off all the way. Set a timer on your cell phone for 20 minutes. Heck, while you have the phone out snap a photo of the cuttings for reference. When it goes off go check the cuttings (no peeking till the timer goes off) if they look exactly the same as they did when you took the dome off set the time for another 20 minutes. This time if they look the same put the dome back on anyway and leave it on for 30 minutes. Then take it off again. This time increase the time to 30 minutes. Timer goes off, check the girls. If they look good (no wilting or bending over) let them go another 30 minutes. If they are still okay after what is a total of 1 hour you're golden. I would put the dome back on and leave it on till the next day. That next day, at some point, take the dome off and set the alarm for 1 hour. Again, check them when the alarm goes off. If they look just the same, store the dome for your next cloning job. Your plant has started making roots. And will do so MUCH quicker not being pampered.
Trust me, I was apprehensive the first time I started taking the domes off. And yes, I had plants that after 20 minutes were drooping over a bit. But in 30 minutes back under the dome they perked right back up again. I try to have the domes off my cuttings in 4-5 days.
