Website Upgrade: New Features

Very minor suggestion but kind of similar to PK1’s so maybe worth mentioning.

The thing I click on most is ‘watched threads’. For me on mobile at least, the link is somewhat buried. I access it by clicking on the so called ‘hamburger’ button at top left- then locating ‘420 forums’ on the long list, then another scroll down through a list to ‘watched threads’. With my limited vision I seem to actually have to hunt for it each time.

Seems like maybe that subscribed threads link is one of those links that could be put up top in that unused black space -for instant gratification- like the lighting bolt one?

:passitleft:
Did you try clicking on the lightning bolt at top right?

Yes I often use that as well.

The lighting bolt takes me to a page showing about ten of the latest posts of the day along with the newest profile comments. So - not the same thing.

I do like that lightning button. The main link I look for though is the ‘watched threads‘ link and that’s what I was suggesting sticking up there. I think in line with what @PK1 was saying.

i don't know on the phone but on the web you have the green menu bar in there click on 420 forums and the you have list of threads. Yours, watched, unanswered and such

Thanks PK1. I do know where it is and it’s not a problem.
Just an idea. I thought that if most of the other members are browsing anything like me, the first thing they want to look at most of the time is their subscription list.

Oh sorry, how about clicking on your username, then Subscribed Threads?

Just two clicks.

when you load a page the notification button shows me different number of unread post but then it quickly goes away.
Mine does that too. Let me know if clearing the cache helped. It's like it's stored a value and adds the new posts value to that number, then shows the correct number.

no, clearing the cache didn't help

Mine does it too, how about you @Marc Ocean

im sure this one already exist and is probably a setting justification. I've even tried playing around with the setting notification but still isn't doing what i want. I was hoping that the notifications posts would stay active until i click on the the particular post which then it would take me to that page and mark it as read. Unfortunately, when i click on the notification button all the posts in that notifications become already read. so then i can't figure which one i read and which one i didnt.

That on mobile device? On laptop (Firefox), I left-click on number beside "Alerts," get popup list of notifications. Left-click anywhere other than that list, it goes away - but read/unread status of threads aren't screwed up, still see unread in bold font on Watched Threads page.

while i was thinking, would it be possible to put a favorite button next to similar posts. Some journals gets lost and having a fav journals to ensure you could follow fully be awesome.

Go to first post in thread, left-click (tap?) on "Bookmark" icon at top right of message (looks like outline of ribbon, sort of). If necessary, when accessing a thread that way, left-click on "Jump to new" (top of thread, on right, just to left of "Unwatch"). Access bookmarked posts/threads via your account menu (left-click on your name at top of page) - or bookmark the following link in your web browser and visit it directly:
Code:

I liked the ability to create "folders" for my subscribed threads and organize them that way (in the previous software) a little better. A lot of that is due to too much head trauma, though, and the (onsite) bookmark function works fine.

It's my main forum (landing) page. I've bookmarked it in all my web browsers. On laptop in Firefox, it shows up (with others) on the screen when I run the browser. When my tablet still worked, in Chrome, I just entered "420" and it auto-completed. Either way, no need to search for it.

I hit the Unanswered Threads page to see if there's anything I can help with, then the New Posts one, and often other things - but I always start with my subscribed threads, so that was the only logical link to use to access the forum.

11 years ago when I first joined the forum, it was possible (just, usually) to at least skim every thread. Now, there's way too much activity for that, some days - which means I had to put a little thought into my access routine, for... <SHRUGS>. I really only even have to glance at my notifications list to see if someone "paged" me from a thread that I'm not already subscribed to.

Feature request: Hey, Marc, is there any way to change the image viewer so that the zoom level is adjustable? Currently, it's "fits on screen" or "maximum size," with no intermediate steps. I have poor vision, so often have to zoom - but when I end up only having a relatively tiny portion of the picture on the screen, it's nearly as hard to make sense/use of the thing as when it's too small for me to discern details. Some kind of onscreen slider would be great; using our up/down arrow keys would work, too, although my down arrow key must have been used too much when it was new, because it barely works now.

Ever since the site went down for maintenance the other day, I cant quickly post a picture without it being blurry. If you click on the image, it will clear up.
But before my images would display clear, now they arent. Even my old images are displaying blurry now, everyone elses are clear.
The only way I can fix it is to "add full image"
Howcome??

I've also noticed that many members who used to post full size images, are now in thumbnails.

@Marc Ocean did something change in the upload/display process with the upgrade?

on the picture there is insert button and you can thumbnail it or do full pictures, the difference is before it was a solid button above the picture but now its a transparent button on the picture. i had to look to figure it out

Exactly
Alot of people that are a tad lazy will scroll right by a blurry picture if they have to click on it for it to be clear, kind of a bummer

once you insert it on your post you can click on it and click on "position" which will allow you to scale the size of the picture.

Yeah I figured it out but, it was nice because before I could just attach the picture and that was it, I didnt have to select it as a thumbnail or full image or etc afterwords, it was quick and easy.
Not the end of the world though

The size of your picture is what makes it blurry. I'm not sure what the thumbnail size is but im sure @Marc Ocean could let you know. If you have the picture in proper size it won't be blurry and you don't have to press thumbnail or full size. When you pot it will automatically be a thumbnail and because it's in proper size format it won't be blurry looking.

Thatd be great.

anyone know where the option is to uncheck the notification with email to every post or tread. My email address is full of every action taken. I tried looking in profile/preference and i can't seem to see anything about email notifications

In Preferences, find Persistent Alerts Enabled. Uncheck it and save.

You can disable emails entirely for specific threads in your watch list here - https://www.420magazine.com/community/watched/threads

Tick the threads and select Disable email notification from the dropdown menu at the top-right of the screen.
