My first thought (besides the fact that it seems to be working okay at first glace), is that it take many additional clicks to get access to all the posting tool that used to be there by default.

And when you click a second set of three dots, the other open toolbar goes away. So if you want to insert an emoji/image, you need to click 2 above. Then if you want to italicize something, you click 1 above and the emoji/image toolbar goes away. If you want to insert another emoji/image, you have to click 2 again, and so on.

I've exposed more of the commonly used BB Code more.

I haven't exposed the buttons on smaller screens so it'll all be on one line.

how can i have a image in bg and then have a video on top of that img. I've tried writing the html code and it didn't work, The tool bars also doesn't have the option to position img/video on top of eachother

We all see it, and are already working on getting that image replaced with MAGAZINE in white. We unfortunately missed it in the test run on our dev site.

^umm, my "similar threads" are from 2010 and not particularly relevant. Mostly, I personally find they extend beyond my keyboard area only allowing 2 lines of text to compose.


But if I hit enter a bunch of times I can see more. Also, I am navigating much better than this afternoon! Thank you

I don't know if this is a bug or just "unintended behavior," but if you have poor vision and zoom your website views via your browser's CTRL + keyboard combination, some of those message box icon gizmos will end up on a second line - there's a big gap between the vertical set of three dots that shows "More options..." when you hover your mouse cursor over them and the counterclockwise-pointing arrow that shows "Undo (Ctrl+Z)" when you hover your mouse cursor over it.

And there's a second vertical set of three dots that also shows "More options..." when you hover your mouse cursor over it/them. Kind of... I don't know what having the same icon that shows the same text but is actually a toggle for a completely different set of additional icons is kind of, lol, but it kind of is. Might look better if didn't use the same icon for each toggle. Maybe used something that gave the forum user some indication of what sort of options left-clicking on each would bring up, like it used to have before the version change.

To anyone who is looking for the "Preview" thing, it has now hopped on board the row(s) of icons in the message box. It's the one that's a magnifying glass on top of a sheet of paper. Has nothing to do with zooming, enlarging text, or searching. The magnifying glass is just a coincidence.

To anyone who has found it, used it, and is now wondering why they can no longer edit the message they were working on... The forum hasn't locked up on you; the message entry box is now also the message preview box. That's why it looks like it's frozen. And the preview thing is now a toggle - so you have to move your mouse cursor back up to it and left-click on it again in order to continue the message creation process.

At least that's how it is now for me. But I run a linux OS, so maybe it's supposed to be like it always was, and my OS/browser is screwing it all up, IDK.

That reminds me, another thing that I'm not sure affects everyone or just us linux users: After posting a message in a thread, if I then (try to) use Shift {spacebar} to jump up the thread view a page at a time, the software somehow apparently "thinks" I'm trying to enter another message for some reason, because it displays a pop-up that shows:
Oops! We ran into some problems.
Please enter a valid message.

That's not new behavior, BtW; it's been like that for me since you switched from {previous software} to {current software}. I just wanted to let you know that this version change didn't fix the issue. And to ask if it's only something that affects linux/Firefox users, or everyone.

Thank you, Dwight. That's why I never bothered to report it before; thought it might have been specific to my setup. I wish it worked like that for me. Oddly, this is the only thread that doesn't. But this is the only forum I post on that uses {software}.

I always have to left-click somewhere on the page after posting, in order to be able to use SHIFT + SPACE and SPACE for navigation of the page if I've just posted a reply to the thread. Weird... I allow the forum's script to run on this computer (just not the googletagmanager one).

I cannot expect Marc to address an issue that only affects a portion of the user base, and a rather small one, at that. Thanks again for testing this for me!

On mobile with safari. A couple weird events.

Earlier I was typing out and editing a post with several paragraphs in it.
When I reach a point I wish to create the next paragraph, I normally double click the return button once or twice to create a space between paragraphs.

Occasionally when I double click it seems to cause the cursor to jump around randomly to completely different points - forward or back to the beginning or end of a different paragraph elsewhere in the post.

Other times it caused the entire paragraph next to the double click to be duplicated.

I’ve been sitting here trying to replicate the problem. Sometimes it happens one in five times- sometimes more/ sometimes less - I don’t know what the trigger is.

Only thing I've noticed is on my mobile there is quite a delay before images in posts will appear. Also, unless I've missed something, when attaching images I couldn't see a button to insert all images in one go. Have to select that for each individual image now.
