Ok I'll admit it. I'm a big softy lol. I haven't intentionally killed a slug since I was a kid. Almost hit the turf more times than I can count because of sliders. Step on a few while moving at a fast pace and you'll get it. :laughtwo: Pop. Thud!
Anyways, I just relocate them to the tweakers place down the road a ways. :) and people think the 4' Nanner Slug is a myth lol. It's real to some folk. ;)

The slug isn't really an issue for the grow. A fairly epic journey for one to make it all the way into the grow. So far none have made it in. I don't think one would be very happy in there if it ever did make it in.
In my outside gardens I have copper barriers and slug bait and whatnot. They're annoying for sure. Sometimes my rows of young plants will suddenly vanish overnight, leaving only stumps behind.

I think I'm going to have to chop that P Chunk today. It could wait another week or two, but I'm not going to to have time in the next month or so. It's not the kind of trim job I can really just do 'whenever' and be around people because it's such a stink bomb.
Anyway it's turned out well with the the Bed of Green thing. Actually the BOG is the same way I managed the best of my PCs. At least 3/4 of my PC harvests have been subpar with mould or other issues. Only a handful have been up to the gold standard. I'm hoping this is one, though I do wish I could leave it another week and see it colour up some more.

PC...the strain Ya love to hate...or vice versa...aside from having strings hanging to hold up the colossal buds...was kind to me...great yield...nice buzz...

...slug side story...think it was 92...was at a local venue, enjoying a Doug and the Slugs show...Blue Jays were playing for the World Series Championship...They shut it down mid show and fired up the TV's to watch the game and eventual WIN!!...the band fired back up, and played an hour or more beyond normal/legal closing time!...well done Mr. Bennet!...RIP!...cheerz...h00k...:Hookah:

~Pineapple Chunk~

Wasn't quite as good as I'd hoped it was going to be. Everything seemed in place for it to be one of my best PCs ever- but it was missing that final bit of... light- I think. Seemed too leafy and not at the cotton candy bubble gum stage of gooiness I've come to expect from this strain. And from looking at it -it didn't seem more time was going to increase the level of the cherished goo.
I'm blaming it on the bulbs I last bought. They're quite new but are cheap generic ones. One crapped out on me already last week -which is also a bad sign. Ordering better bulbs after I'm done posting this. Have to keep up with Tead...

Having complained about it, I know from experience that even this somewhat leafy PC is still going to be killer smoke. All things considered I'm happy enough with it. And this was my only day I had time to deal with it this month anyway. So it is what it is- which isn't at all bad. Not at the 'goo' stage- but pretty nice, no mould, and it made it into the drier safe and sound after its long journey.

Half a century of Western Washington State slug wrangling right here. :) Chicken scratch. The good Dr is correct. Name them, feed them, talk to them lol. Watch them gather. They like chicken scratch better than most other foods and will follow trails of it or find piles easily. Keeps them off my ground based mushrooms and other garden delights while feeling in tune with nature. :Namaste:

Then you kill them :passitleft:

Growing up in The Great NW, I remember recipe books for cooking slugs.
Not quite sure if they were tongue in cheek or not.

Ha, that's quite the collection of finger hash ya gots there weaseley,, good job indeed. Maybe you used up all yer surgeons glovies surgering slugs. I have seen many a slugs guts in my time. Great plant weaseley

I have a harvest myself today,, a lemon haze/sandy plant. First one of these in a while,, dern thing nearly made it to term without hermying,, but saw a flower yesterday, so down it comes today, close to ripe,, Yay.

Cheers friend,, chat soon,,ish

There are two stories I know around here of eating slugs- which generally nobody considers edible. One is about an old coot 100 miles away from here who apparently considered them one of his favourite foods. The story was told to me by a friend who swears he saw him eating them and it is 'gospel truth' (which apparently is supposed to mean that it's true). His cooking technique was to drop them in boiling oil briefly. The skin and all its slime would turn a succulent golden brown, whereupon he could slide that inedible part off of the delectable inner part, throw it away, and gobble up the delicious treat inside like a sausage.

The other one was in the local news. One of the mighty hunters that come here in the fall to shoot deer, a fellow from Tokyo, got lost in the bush. His 'survival training' kicked in and he started eating slugs to keep his energy up and supplement his rations for the future. (Apparently he didn't see any deer). I think his training manual may have been a bit vague since there are usually better things to eat around here.
He found his way out the next day. Not sure how he rated his local dining experience.

So a dude goes out camping for a night eats a slug next morning his on the news? I love the sound of where you live man, life sounds pleasant if that's making headlines

Stunning! Couldn't pull myself away. :dreamy:

Congrats on finding the time to get the job done. :high-five:

Pretty much sums up the local news, yep. On a good week. No tv just a weekly rag.
To be fair, he may have eaten more than one slug... ;)

These things put out a defensive slime that's sticky as epoxy glue. The thought of choking one down raw is pretty much incomprehensible...

My kind of bouquet. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart: That is one beautiful specimen Weaselcraker. If I could I'd have given you reps, but somewhere in the past 24 hours I must have already done that.

Geez.... another one for the list. And may I say, that grafted beauty has to be considered for a POTM entry. Tell me you're thinking of it. It's turned into a glorious celebration of strains. Has me thinking of a future fun project. I need more tent space. Lol! And more lights. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Me too! Thanks Sue.
I'll enter the grafted one on the rare chance that it turns out beautifully. Otherwise I'll wait till next time. ;)

Honduras at 35 five days since she showed sex in flowering -though she's been in the flowering room much longer than that. Still going upwards at the rate of one inch per day. Could be wishful thinking but I might be seeing signs that she's starting to think about slowing down. Putting more energy into her lower branches now and the little buds are getting a teeny bit bigger.

Man that Hondo just won't stop going vertical huh? I always look forward to your pics and posts man. It's truly an honor to follow your journal. So, what if she keeps on going upwards? Super crop or just let her go?

Well, she's already too close to the light so I moved her to the side a bit to save that scrawny little tip from sizzling. For a base on the floor is a platform which I could remove with a fair amount of effort. Then I'd gain about 10". After that there may be some other weird emergency options. But I have to watch myself because it seems like 'style' keeps winning out over substance in my grow (not to mention my life...) So why am I taking time to rearrange the furniture to avoid bending this one little sativa just so it looks nice?
I'll probably have to bend it over anyway when it uses up all my options. Maybe best to snip off that tip right now.

~Afghan x Black Domina~

I sprouted this one on the same day as the seeds that went into the hexapus grow, which started before this journal did, and finished a while back. So that tells you how long it's been around. It didn't make the cut because it was a little runt- struggling from the start. I put it in a corner of the veg room and it didn't die but just grew very slowly for months. Eventually it was big enough that I tossed it into flowering. Later I got more interested in this plant when I read that it's recommended for help with pain and insomnia. So I will reveg this one because of that.
Nothing earth shattering- but turned out to be a decent little plant.

~Peyote Purple~

After a couple days in the drying box. In the photos it looks a bit unnatural- like the photo colour is off. It looks exactly that in real life too. Actually it looks like it's completely covered in mould. I took the pictures amidst the veg room foliage to try to show that the colour is actually natural. Still looks off to me though...

Is it just me, or is that AxBD covered in foxtails? Still looks amazing, just bumpy I guess?

That PP looks sick, in the very good way! If the name of the strain is at all descriptive of the stone, your patients are gonna have some very memorable experiences.
