Ha ha. Paint specks. I wouldn’t put it past myself. But no. It’s definitely not that. I did check the paint though after you said that- it’s looking good. Well- not the paint on the floor- that’s bad. But the walls are good.
The specks are part of the leaves and I’m sure it’s a nutrient issue of some kind. It arrived with the Mega Crop, and became way more noticeable when I switched from Sunshine Mix to Promix. Though I suppose there’s always the slight possibility it’s some sort of invisible bug- but I really really don’t think so.

I do regularly let the veg plants dry to slightly wilting. Not only is that good for the plants, it’s good for me, because I don’t have to go through 50 pots or so and lift them all.

The first cuttings from this last batch have shown roots at 5- 3/4 days (but who’s counting...). In a couple days I’ll plant them and start some side by side tests to see how the mega crop compares from the start.

I do have a Critical Plus plant 5 weeks into flowering which I’ve decided to leave on a mega crop diet. To compare, I have two other C+’s in flower. One that’s had about 3 weeks of MC, and one that hasn’t had any. I might scrap that big crappy Carnival plant for hash to make room for happier plants.

The 5 week flowering C+ has the usual MC deficiencies. The one that got the Skybound Sauce is looking more vibrant than any of my plants have looked for a while, though it doesn’t fully show in these crappy pics....

I really should paint the floor....

Hi VetSmoke85 :passitleft:

5 & 3/4 days you say? Pray tell your cloning methods in intricate details? I was over there patting myself on the back when I get roots in 8 days, but 5&3/4 I have to admit I've been bested.

The cuttings are in my aerocloner. I bought it in desperation a couple years back when I was having huge prolonged trouble getting any roots at all. It was a total bust and mainly grew lots of slime so I stuck it in the attic and only considered using it again recently after a discussion about Z7 on the forum.

The Z7 is the bennies product which eventually saved the day for me with cloning. Before that it was always hit and miss, but for about half a year there it was almost all miss.
Anyway I remembered the cloner which I hadn’t tried again since I got the Z7. So that’s what I’ve used for the last two cloning rounds. Water and Z7

I took the cuttings late late at night on Dec 15 and found the first couple showing roots on the evening of the 21st so that was a little under six days.
Usually I clone in perlite and that’s been about 10 days average.

This is them last evening

How does the cloner spray or mist the liquids? Also, is there a temp that should be maintained to ensure success? I want to build one and likely already have all needed materials. I'll research the Z7 to see if I can remake it with other things, otherwise I'll just order some or a comparative product.

An electric pump with a short bit of vertical 1”-ish pipe coming out, spreading out into a horizontal H pattern, with maybe a dozen of these little sprayers laid out on the H. The threaded barbs are about 1/8” diameter. I built one before. I’d send it to you but it sounds like you’re well on the way there. Reason I bought the commercial one is I was just grasping at straws and thought maybe somehow it would work better than the one I made.

The Z7 is a two part thing. One part presumably beneficial bacteria and one part presumably saponin.

As for temps- I’m not monitoring them atm, but around 70ish is recommended. On the cooler side to help keep slime away. Maybe less important with the bennies.

The sprayers.. spray. But I’m pretty sure I could get by with a lot less spraying. Just having that 100% humidity around the roots is almost enough. The sprayers don’t need to come on much at all and I’m sure just any little bit of occasional spray or mist would be enough, usually.

It’s a huge challenge for me to ever get to sleep before dawn and has been since my earliest memories- staying up all night while everyone else slept. Dawn is the best time to fall asleep, IMO. Unfortunately I have to integrate with the other humans too sometimes, so it doesn’t always work out

I get confused about whether it’s day or night for people. Seems like someone’s always up. A lot happens around the time night owls and early risers meet.
I never could figure out when Graytail sleeps.

It might be time for me to drag out the Arduino again and rig up a relay to be clicked on every other minute forever. I have several of both, so maybe I'll stick those into the Santa sock after the new year. Thanks for the insights about your cloner, I will definitely be making one ASAP.

For sure. And if/when temps are a concern for you, you can get by on much less pumping than minute on- minute off. I’m thinking a minute on once or twice an hour might be plenty. I’ve had the pump off for 24 hours before and the cuttings were fine. Though I do sometimes notice when too many sprayers get clogged the cuttings in that spot might eventually start to wilt.

Hope you kids are good. I’m good.:lot-o-toke: ❤️

At nine days. 1/3 of the dozen cuttings still don’t have roots yet- so they’re definitely not all early.

Better pics of the Critical Plus I was mentioning as looking vibrant. This one hasn’t had mega crop for several week. She got fed the new special sauce last week and seems to have really loved it.

I can easily see the resemblance to her half sister the Critical Cheese I used to grow. Those perfect looking leaves. One of them is in my avatar pic.

:passitleft:

Those leaves look amazing, beautifully colored. When you plant your rooted clones, what medium do you put them into? Right into the dirt or other?

Happy holidays to all of you guys as well! :lot-o-toke:

Right into the dirt or...?
Yes. I premoisten some of the peat mix and plant them into 1 gallon pots. Usually I add some rabbit turds but didn’t see any on the shelf handy so I this time I moistened the peat mix with a light veg nute solution. Then they don’t need anything else much for the first few weeks, other than maybe a little drizzle of water once or twice.

I finally got around to taking a second look at the peat I dug up off the end of my driveway last year. I’d had it piled up against the side of the greenhouse - still damp. I strained it by squashing it down into and through the screen like a paste, and picked out most of the sticks. Actually there weren’t that many sticks in it .

It’s lovely stuff actually. I put a tote-full away to dry in the cabin for a while. I might go get some more. Then I’ll check out Farside’s DIY peat mix thread and see about mixing up a batch.

When I get new peat, I just add a shit load of perlite to it and dolomite lime & calcium carbonate to it for the buffer, but I think Farside uses only Garden Lime which I think is the same as dolomite. But for me, the hardest part is adding water back into it because once dry, peat resists the water and wants to stay a dry dusty snot clogging powder, so if I were you, I'd experiment with making a wet mix to save yourself the hassle. You'll probably have to travel to a garden&feed store or a home improvement center for the dolomite, and if you're lucky they'll also have calcium carbonate, but if not, I understand the dolomite alone will be just fine. I just prefer to use the 2 because dolomite has a lot of magnesium in it and I don't want to risk any bennies liberating too much Mg and blocking any Ca uptake, but that's just probably me overthinking things as I am very well known for.

I have some dolomite lime ( if I remember right ). And for the purposes of the mix I was thinking to use up the perlite I formerly used for cloning in, and have been collecting in random containers.

I don’t have any calcium carbonate in powdered labeled form. But if I remember right- that’s what oyster shells are made of, and I have lots of those.
