Check out GreenGene's Gardens on YouTube, he did a few videos about 321. It's simple to mix, but his plants were looking like they were having a tough time. I only used it for about a month before I started down the 'make my own' route. When you go salts, you can make 321 or MC or GH or any other line all with the same salts. You know my opinion is biased towards salt, but I definitely favor having full control of the formulation. If anything is not to my liking, I can change it and that's just not possible with any other blend.
 
I may run Jacks then if I like it I’ll probably start making my own. Can’t afford to do much experimentation right now.

If it hadn’t been for a zillion people talking about how great the stuff was a few months ago, I would assume that this stuff is just junk and get rid of it. To be honest after seeing how much better everything looks after quitting the MC, it’s very hard to imagine ever using it again even as a supplement. My veg room has taken right off and is glowing with health since I stopped using MC.

Where are those people now? Many have issues to report, but there are a few who still think the stuff is wonderful. I’ve got no reason not to believe them. I’ve seen some nice looking plants from it. Just not at my place. I’ve been watching @bluter s plants because he seems to do well with the MC in hempy, but his are still in veg or early flower. Haven’t checked Farside’s for a while but his looked nice when I did.

Human nature is such that the ones who don’t have issues tend to want to tell the other ones that they’re ‘doing it wrong’. But how? As far as I could see I’m using the stuff exactly the same way as they are. Maybe I got a bad batch? Seems unlikely. I did notice @Virgin Ground talking about issues with hers though.

I feel like I’ve flogged this horse from most possible angles at this point. But once I have my side by side clones going I’ll torture them with different levels of MC vs other nutrient alternatives, and see if they talk. Hopefully. Then I’ll post in one if the mega crop threads- so they can tell me I’m doing it wrong lol....

I only got the MC because I won it on another forum. I got 2kg of the MC and one kg each of Carbo, (pure dextrose), Big Up, (0-52-34) and Rock Steady, (0-0-62). Nice to have those last 2 for tweaking my flowering period.

I've used AN nutes mainly for the last 20 years and swear by Big Bud but all I use of AN is the 3-part for a base, BB and some Rhino Skin tho I'm not using the Rhino any more either. Stuff went bad and I'm not doing DWC anymore.

Won a small 7 jug package of REMO nutes so giving them a try now. My buddy in the city really loves them and he's a damn good grower. Mixed up in RO water the pH comes out at 6.0 so perfect for my ProMix HP growing style which is do the least I have to get decent plants. :)

Got my 5 beans of Double Ought Cherry planted last night and want to plant some Heirloom Maui Wowie today and/or some Sugar Black Rose too.

There's as many ways to grow these things as there are strains to grow and the tough part is is finding what works best for you. So many strains, so little time. At least for an old fart like me. :D

Mega crop, as a one part fertilizer, gives me two options. Feed less, or feed more.

Less = deficiencies all over the place.

More = deficiencies all over the place with nitrogen toxicity on top.

I’ve also tried with and without calmag.

My feeling is that there is no way to make whatever version of it I have work to grow perfect plants. The fact that they’re lackluster and spotty even from the early veg stage tells me enough. Veg is easy. I can veg a plant perfectly well on almost anything - compost, rabbit crap, old fish remains, deer shit, or any of a large numbers of bottled nutrients I have on the shelf.

Not sure why the mega crop hates me, while some people are getting by with it ok. But if my new new new 2021 mix works as well as it seems to be doing, I won’t need to care.
 
I go very light on MC in veg and it does ok but once they start to stretch and their needs change it usually falls apart.
 
Happy New Year to all you folks that come through here. ❤️Posting now because I know you guys go to bed very very early! . (jk). What a damn weird-ass year. Even weirder for most of you guys than for me out here with my head in the sand- but I got a pretty good whiff of it anyway, not to worry.

Going out on a good note here at least. The best thing that’s happened in the grow in a long time has been switching away from mega crop and into using raw hydro salts. Skybound talked me into this. And it took him a long time too because I’m so damn sluggish. :laughtwo:

Anyway, finally movin’ on... I’m tickled pink to see happy plants again, and I actually keep going out there to look at them. Hopefully it lasts :) If it doesn’t I’ll just find some other nutrient source. I hadn’t fully realized how much it sucked the life out of my grow and this journal, having lackluster plants for the last 8 months or more. I’ll try to contain my giddiness. :rofl:

Musical tangent of the month.
Another classic that everyone everywhere has already heard a million times. This to me is one of the greatest songs ever written, and the guitar work on it is just mind blowing- so tasteful and simple but beautiful. Dire straits was the favorite of a good friend of mine and after he died unexpectedly in a plane crash they played this at his funeral. Not a dry eye anywhere. I’ll always somewhat associate the song with that now.
I’ve been working on figuring it out over the last couple days. There’s nothing in there that’s flashy or complicated. Like most of what MK plays, it’s all very simple and nothing that a beginner couldn’t at least pick out. It’s all about putting feeling into every note. Not sure where he gets that soul from. I love that Knopfler has become the world’s favorite guitar hero when he’s pretty much the opposite of anything a stereotype might demand..

I pray 2021 will be better for all around the globe, but who knows, maybe it will be the year the ETs step out of the shadows or some other species altering event. Whatever the case, I'll keep putting my best foot forward and hope for the best for all of us. I'm happy your garden is happy. Hopefully we can really pinpoint good targets and who knows maybe make our own 420 formulation to share with others for various strains, that IMO would be badass!

Maybe it's a fluke :laugh: Still 4-5 weeks to go. I also add plant magic bio-silicon throughout and biobizz top-max in flower. Maybe that's the trick.

Honestly though yours are the nicest MC plants I’ve seen so far. Most look somewhere between ‘half decent’ and ‘good’.

Yeh good riddance and here’s hoping. Being a bit of a tree hugger myself, I figure it’s only a matter of time before mother nature hands us the bill. But people are nothing if not resourceful and adaptable. And most, if not all, of reality is in our minds anyway, so yeah- try to put the best foot forward and make it work, as we’ve always done. That’s life!

Are you using Hydro Buddy or some program like it?
For now I’m ignoring mega crop completely and no longer using it. I’m just entering Skybound’s stated targets into HB and then juggling what I have on hand to try and meet those targets.
