When I switched the QG to a 5gal, I had to sacrifice 4 inches closer to my light fixtures. The last thing I want is to require HST with an autoflowering. If I try it, my clumsy hands can easily cause great bodily harm.

I've been dreading about the need to raise up the lights above the closet crossbar (or else removing the bar).

Looks like I'm gonna need to do something sooner than later.

This auto is nearly as tall as that photo CBD was reaching. HST worked well in that situation but with auto's I'm not sure how resilient they are. I need to research HST AND LST for a stretchy auto's 4 inches more to light fixture contact.

Removing the bar has been in the plans since the start. My drawback is the light fixture center supporting shelf held by chains needs to be rethought. I can hike the lights another foot or more with very little more expense.

Pennywise suggested using PVC pipe that I've been contemplating.

Whatever is good will have to be done right away. Probably Monday.

The property is a rental so I'm trying to avoid any holes in doors, walls and ceilings. I have things planned with my current 15" high brackets I only need to replace the chains with some tightly sinched rope. The shelf only needs to supports the weight of two light fixtures plus 6 or 7 pounds.

Ask pennywise about my (what he calls) macgyver'ing. I've always called it garage drawer engineering. I see a need, Think about the most pennywise fix, (pardon the pun), and look around my treehouse for a scrap of anything that'll work and whalha; a completely redesigned support shelf! For today i have 4 more inches after removing that crossbar.

Today's problem solved on demand with some seriously overstocked rope hangers and cables (a virtual plethora), that I should've used in the first place!!! And my bracket configuration could easily support one hundred pounds or more without any visible holes and the hanger eye bolts will reach 7 ft.. After which make these cables shorter (to 4 or 5 inches).

Now I have a few lengths of heavy chain heading for the junk drawer for future macgyver'ing situation!

I'll try to photo journal the rebuild. After all, this is my "Skid Row" closet grow.

Ps. My new configuration will make each light AND each plant able to move independently which should reduce the number of buckets I'm now using.

Need to rewire some outlets and power strips while I'm at it: I've been putting off this work for 6 months.

Raising auto's is like a box of chocolates. Every one is different in how they grow and flower. One is 10 weeks and started flowering Last week and is SLOWLY progressing. While my 6 week is already looking like it's flowering now.

I hope that one ultimately gets as big as the other one, and hope is a huge leap.

I've never realized how crazy different they can be.

The older plant has nearly just a few normal looking fan leaves and hundreds of leaves resembling huge sugar leaves.

The small plant has huge normal 5 lobe fan leaves

Well my prototype lighting system is ready for its test flight. I want to wait until this evening when only a few hours of plant light will be lost. My age will dictate just how much sleep I can lose working out any "KINKS" I've overlooked.

The worst that can happen is a couple late night reworks.

Bottom view. The white paper represents my 12X8 inch lights will hang about 6 inches below this. We'll see if it works.
