So, are we alright or not?
I'll know in 30 minutes, give or take. Wait, wut?
Oh, that's right...
125, cherry limeade gummies hit the fridge 2 hours ago, and 1 hit my tummy 1 hour ago.
With just 1, I have a light, clean-ish buzz creeping on. If the buzz increases maybe 20% in the next 30-60 minutes, these will have come out right where I wanted them. (Where 1 is light enough to get things done, 2 of these gummies will be just right to keep barely functional, and 3 would be a little more on the sedative side.) The only thing I'm not completely satisfied with is the flavor. It's not bad, but more cherry-vanilla ish than cherry lime. (I didn't add any vanilla, so who knows why.) They don't taste bad, light taste of the canna oil, but not over powering.
So how about some details on the recipe? Sure thing. Let's go!
First, a shout out to
@farside05 and
@Preston9mm as the root source of inspiration for this recipe, which I put my own light twist onto. More on the results in a minute. Now for the ingredients.
Attempted Flavor: Cherry Limeade
Recipe:
- (1) 3oz box of Jello (I used Lime)
- (2) envelopes of knox gelatin
- 2 TBSP honey
- 1 tsp lecithin (I used sunflower)
- 1/3 C fruit juice (I used "wild cherry")
- (3) squirts of cherry "water enhancer" (Mio, kool-aid, etc)
- 1/3 C canna oil (I used coconut infused)
Steps:
- Add juice, water enhancer (mio, etc), honey, lecithin into a glass measuring cup and combine
- Put glass measuring cup into microwave for 30-45 seconds to warm up the mixture for a more consistent blend
- Add canna oil into small sauce pan and warm it up on med-low (I used a "3" setting on my stupid electric stove)
- Stir in the blended juice and ingredients from the measuring cup
- Stir in Jello and Knox
- Stir constantly, briskly, while the gelatin dissolves and mixes up
- Add a cap full of juice (one at a time) if the mixture is way too thick (you want it a tick thick, and not watery)
- Once gelatin is dissolved, keep stirring while you fill the molds
- After filling is completed, wait 1 minute and then taking 1 tray at a time, lift it about 6"-8" off the counter and drop it to get out any air bubbles
- Place in fridge for 60-90 minutes
I stirred with one hand, while I used a dropper with the other. My molds are 2.5ml each, and this recipe made 125 gummies from the mix. That was a final mix volume of approx 315ml (1.33 Cup, 10.6 fl oz.)
The texture of these came out right on point, I think. They are not hard and super chewey, like a black forest gummy bear for example, but they are not like a normal pan of jello. If I were to make a scale where
1 would be "normal jello", and
10 would be that hard chewy gummy like a black forest gummy bear, then these would probably be right at a 5, maybe a 6 or even 5.5 I guess. Right where I like them, personally. I will leave one out at room temp and see how it does with that. If it holds its shape, then I think the firmness is nailed for me.
