Visualize Whirrled Peas: A Perpetual Garden By 013

Yes slowly, she had live mites crawling on the edges of bucket today so she got another neem spray treatment! Then she got yanked from the high shelf in the grow room and moved to another room where she was placed by the window. Now she’s wearing a No Pest Strip as a necklace for 24 hours then we will place the No Pest Strip under her elevated bucket for 24 hrs to kill from the bottom side too. I’m going to try the oil dormant spray thanks to marzbadrock who dropped that nugget but I’m also considering the Neemattack nematodes that mochabud uses. Just got some liquid kelp, crab meal and malted barley
Hey @013 I'm also having a hard time with fungus gnats right now, I pretty much eradicated them back in the fall but those bastards are resilient! Now that my plants are in larger pots they have come back with a vengeance. I used mosquito dunks, have tons of pest strips encircling my pots, I use hydrogen peroxide on the soil surface to try and take care of the larvae and I let my dry cycle go a little longer but it seems like they just can't be beat. Any advice you can give on getting rid of them? I was thinking of trying nematodes, have you ever used them?

Hey 4tay, what’s happening? I have not used nematodes but I’ve seriously considered it. IIRC 420 member mochabud can answer any questions. I had fungus gnats real bad spring, summer & fall of last year. It was the fungus gnat & spider mite orgy of 2020 around here. I did switch to bottom watering to keep top of soil dry and also sulfur dusting top of soil, they hate that shit and won’t land in sulfur treated soil. But yep sticky traps and all that jazz. For bottom watering you need a wash tub or plastic tote that’s big enough to set your entire plant container in, add water and set your plant container and all in for a 4 minute soak.

Parra what up dog? I’m out of fresh bud but plenty of cobs on the table - help yourself. Hey it’s great to see you in the neighborhood!! I’m just hanging out - latest news is may have ended the spidermite issues finally! I hung a No Pest Strip overnight and sprayed her down with oil dormant spray - spider mite funeral service at dawn. So the plants on the shelf now waiting for new reveg leaves to pop but should turn around in a month to 6 weeks hopefully. Got a few newbies above ground too so that’s always exciting! Stop by anytime bro

ever try neem cake powder and seaweed dust on top ? , i tried this time not one pest :)
i also run and electric fly zapper that comes on for 15 mins at lights out , i do autos so i can get away with it . but saying that people who used hps for years has a glow for a while at lights out so might work , it also comes on for 15 mins in the day ,

Hey Parra - I checked that same bucket a few days ago and had no spider mite activity but today I saw a few on one side of the bucket in spite of the heavy spray so I’m doing the death from above via the no pest strip. I should know better than to declare funeral services cuz thats when the buggers throw an all out orgy and make me look bad. I will hit them again with the oil dormant spray and keep the no pest strip necklace going - they’ve got several more weeks left to reveg so hopefully I can nuke them

Today I moved a tray that had 3 new seedlings on it and dropped the whole damn thang. Just call me grace. Luckily nothing was obviously broken but I’m sure they got some stress. The good news is these were in rapid rooter plugs so hopefully the damage will be minimal. But 3 cups of soil went all over the floor so I just repotted into new soil. What’s up with you??

Damn @013 I would be soo bummed out and pissed with myself, I hope everything turns out okay with the new seedlings.

Wow hey 4tay0z, Glad to see ya! Yeah just shaking my head in disbelief after that one...I repotted and fed some kelp for stress relief, I did put them in lower light situation to help them heal up.
I actually just did something similar this morning with two clones I rooted for a friend. I repotted them and went to put them back under the light and dropped them. One is pretty mangled and the other doesn't have any damage, im really hoping the one will make it the main stem looks like someone supercropped it twice lol.

For anyone reading along I have used No Pest Strips before and knew there are serious precautions regarding the use of these products, so I invite you to follow the link below and read the comment made by Mochabud - a veteren grower that I have confidence in.

These (NPS) No Pest Strips are to be used short term on a very temporary basis and emit a noxious chemical that can cause severe respiratory ailments which are toxic to humans and animals. If you use them read all the package labels and heed the warnings.

Also before entering your grow space or working in your indoor garden remove the NPS and double seal in tin foil and large ziplock baggies then ventilate the tent or grow space for 30 minutes before entering. Mochabud - read post #14 please

It's good to know about the health implications.
It's never applied directly to the plant though so what residue would I be washing off?
They won't help with mites @013, for me the packaging even mentions so.

Woah that sound intense... My lady is respiratory therapist... hope I don't ever need them, would not be fun time convincing her. It took me 2+ years to convince her I can smoke and still be relatively healthy

I just bought a bunch of sheets of the yellow sticky traps off Amazon, not sure if they contain ddvp or any other hazardous to humans chemicals.
I'm starting to wonder if this is why I am feeling the way I am and respiratory issues, I have them everywhere in my space
