Re: Vapedogg223's Got a Brand New Bag! All Organic - High Brix -Nirvana Ice- 49 Plant
It's a warrior/man thing...females are much more compassionate.
Actually, no we're not...I LOVE to watch them die!!!!!!
WOW!!!! So frosty they almost look purple in that second pic.
You're going to have some mighty fine smoke there...keep up the good work
I'll light the match!!!
We can do the hippy chick thing and go without...lol.
The mosquito dunks seemed to have worked well...there's still a few I see flying around, but they are an endangered species in my garden...whether they know it or not!
I think the outbreak happened because I top dressed with the manure and EWC...When the worm castings start to dry out they are like dry coffee grounds on top of the pot...add in the manure and water the whole thing with high quality teas and I made a fungus gnat breeder! The consistency of the EWC on top seems to provide perfect conditions for them to breed! I inspected all my extra soil and supplies, and do see any sign of the little bastards outside of the grow room.
for the kind words! Colors are tough to get to come across correctly with the combination of HPS lighting and flash...but the frosty colas in those group shots do take on a cool bluish hue!
Wow, nice clean pics. Lovin the group shot the best, I'm only four days behind you in my grow. I love the feeling of a good harvest.. and you sir have one on the way!
brother! Next update I'll post a few more of the group shots for you!
Great shots, love the colors and the sticky on the yellow leave's as well. Truly Awesome. Are your waxed up like doc's did.
These photos show the plant is vibriant, healthy, and still going. Love this method.
I wonder If I can move my Berry Bomb grow over to the Brix at full strength?
I have a question been rolling around to ask.
If dipping pot is messy and takes some time in the tea is it possible for someone a good drawer to design an eb and flow on the air pots, when dipping completed all Brix draines back to the container.
Im just trying to not get a big messy calderon in the plant room. Does it make alot of mess?
And wondering how much soil the air-pots loose while dunking.
I think you can switch any plant over to high Brix...the difficulty involved is going to depend on what's already in the soil as fas as organic material and amendments, and what you add when you switch. I ran into some problems with my moms, but they were in a mix that had a lot of dolomite in it...which never did fix my magnesium deficiencies, by the way.
How messy it is dunking the pots depends on the type of containers/totes you use and your space. Once you try it a couple times you'll develop a routine that works for you. Just don't get discouraged at first. Maybe consider laying down a piece of poly on the floor and have some old towels around to throw down and absorb the inevitable spills...
The watering system you're describing sounds a lot like an "old school" flood and wick, drain to waste setup, and should work fine. Air-Pots however, would not be the ideal container for this setup because of the raised bottoms. I would have to fill up all the drain channels in the grow tray, and then another 2+ inches above that before the water would even touch the soil. I think a standard pot, or fabric pot, like Smart Pots would work great for that.
If I were going to water with that method, I would close the drain and pour the water/tea/etc. into the tray so that the water level is a few inches above the bottom of the pot and let the soil wick up whatever it's going to. After the pots absorbed what they wanted, I'd open the drain in the tray, and let any excess drain out. After a few times you'd have a pretty good idea how much to add...ideally you would want to add just enough that when the pots were done absorbing the liquid, the only waste left to drain would be what's in the drain channels in the bottom of the tray.
Did that make any sense? I will be trying to come up with some king of easier system for watering, because what I'm doing now is a lot like work!
As far as losing soil, it's not as much as you'd think. I'll be posting pics of the root ball when I'm done.
Unbelievable quality there Vape!
RE: smells. High Brix is going to smell and taste different. The terpenes are fully developed and in hgher amounts than a lower brix plant. You're going to notice subtleties in taste and smell that you've not noticed before.
Wait till you see how smooth the smoke is.....
Gorgeous grow!
bro! I've got my fingers crossed that things continue to go well! I try not to count my chickens before they are hatched, so to speak...but I really can't wait to try it!
Great photo update Vape! If they are even half as good as they look, your in for quite a treat.
Keep up the great work!
I can only hope!
Wow Vape those girls are looking soo freaking good! Awesome job my man.
I did agree with them on some things. It's scary crazy what is allowed to pass as "organic" when it comes to our food. Just about anyone can meet the criteria and slap an "organic" sticker on the food you are buying. Then be able to charge you 2-3 bucks more for what ever it is you are buying.
Weather or not Organic foods are better for us has yet to be proven. As for if they taste different, Penn and Teller did a blind taste test and more often then not people picked the non organic foods as organic. Now I realize this test can be edited for TV to prove their point. Just watch to show and decide for yourself. Personally there needs to be stricter regulations on what passes for organics, before I see the sense of increasing my food bill 50-100 bucks a week.
The topic of that show and what Vape is doing are two totally different things. Hence why I didn't go into much detail. The conversation was steering towards organics in general so I thought it prudent to tell people to go what that show.
I enjoy Pen & Teller's Bullshit! very much, and I agree totally. I know the show you are speaking of, and they were accurate in what they were saying, whis was primarily, just because it has a label that says "organic" doesn't mean that it will he any healthier, or taste any better...but almost always means it will cost more!
I think what this country needs right now is one giant enema, to flush away the tons of bullshit our government shovels at us daily!
And once more for good measure,
Vapedogg, +reps man!
brother!
no matter how many times you see them buds you just get amazed every time, its what we all strive to grow, i know its what i hope to achieve at some point in my life
very much bro!
Hey Vape, your garden is looking extremely healthy and delicious!!! sorry I haven't been around too much lately but really happy to see that your plants are kicking buds and taking names!!! lol
Ice! I haven't been around much myself! So busy lately...thanks for stopping in! I have to get over to your journal when I have some time!
What an amazing grow, the 49 plant scrog is just fantastic and has made me re-think what's possible
I had never heard of high Brix untill reading your Journal, (Hats off and
to Icemud and DocBud too) and can see the obvious benefits, not just for meds but all the food we eat, and the food animals eat before we eat them! I don't just want your plant, I want a high Brix diet.
Your meds look like they will be Top Drawer!!
bro! The nutritional benefits for growing food excite me just as much as the potential for growing our plant! Doc bought me a long time ago that top shelf meds are within everyones reach!
I definable know what you mean about spending money! I view it as a hobby though, so I don't mind spending money as long as it brings me enjoyment!
Doc has really started us on something special with using high Brix methods for growing our plant...it opens up a whole new world, where we can rediscover strains that may never have been grown to their full genetic potential!
This grow is far from perfect...my soil ran out of energy early in the grow...my temps are much higher than I want, and don't get me started on the gnats! The weather here is making things difficult earlier than I had hoped...when my new climate controlled room is running I should really be able to grow something special!
Vapedogg I just read through the whole journal and I must say it's a real treat reading your journal. You are the first member to be friend me here and I feel I will learn a ton of wealthy info from you and others on this board. I hope some day to be able to present a journal as fine as you have my friend! Excellent job in every aspect. You explain everything down to the last letter. I love seeing someone is into perfecting his craft..... and after all being a farmer is a craft. Thanks again for taking the time to share links and a wealth of info. i'm going to have a blast following all of your posts. Now that's a SOG!
I fear you give me more credit than I am due...but
for the kind words!
I learned as a young adult that anything worth doing, is worth doing to the best of your ability! That and a little attention to detail has served me pretty well...
Doc (and others here) have brought growing to a level that is more accurately described as art, and as such he has become more of an artist than a grower! That's the level I am striving to achieve!
ohhh mannn! first he takes my Motm victory right from my grasp, now he puts my plant to shame! wtf. lol jk idk I'm high. looking very good and frosty vape! stop by my journal and criticize if you'd like! +reps for the beauties!
Sorry about that bro...it was out of my hands!
I'll try to stop over and take a look when I have a minute! I'm completely buried around here with stuff to do, and I tend to obsess when I know I'm behind and it just causes me more stress! I will get caught up again...eventually...I hope!
Just wanted to stop by and see how things have been to you. Hope the weather has been holding out for you. I know it's a Bitch.
Anyway looks like you'll have alot of catching up to do. Seems like most are so busy it's been hard for me to check out new member's too.
I'm feeling pretty good, but the biggest problem I'm having with the weather is that it's either pouring rain out, or in the 90s! I still have a lot to do with the vegetable beds, that I can't do in the rain/mud, and the heat is complicating my indoor grow!
