high p.
what i was thinking is, using the 4x4 tent, put up 3 vertical scrogs, 3" away from the wall...now, when i repot...use 2.5gal pots instead of the 3.75 im using now, which would save space....also, instead of putting the plants in the middle, offset severely to the side, with roots aimmed across the pot...i did a drawing of this so will see if i can scan it later if this doesnt help....put the 3 pots each side so they are slightly under the scrog, and just weave them straight up the sides, the side next to the tent would be the bare side, the same as the under side of the reg. scrog....clean the bottom of the plant about 6" to a foot up, and would have to be cut to four or five main whips, or more....each, as they grow, just weave vertical....keep the overhead lights the same as they are now....now in the center of the space mt 3 vertical, 2 or 3 ft t5 or something of that ilk....vertical....which ive done before, in a garden i once had in my living room....so there would be a light the length of the vertical minus distance to overhead light on all three sides that have the scrog screens...this center light block needs to be movable so that it can be pulled out, and you could weave on the back side and water...
i am not good at explaining it, and im not sure my drawing would do it for you, but i think it would work....let me know what you think...lavendar

i think i could get either 8 or 9 plants, 3 per side in there that way, the scrog would be about 6 to 8 in. from the vertical lites aand the rest would be covered by the overheads....for extra lights...:blunt:

Thanks, OMM. That really means alot. I certainly get as much out of this site as I put in so I'm glad to be able to give back a little.

I think we're on the same page. I like where you're going with it, but the whole moving a light to be able to get to the back ones is a little intimidating to me. Still doing some thinking. But I'm realizing at a certain point there's no point in the scrog - just trellis or cages.

Anyways - still thinking on it.

Pics and update coming in the next post. Minutes away.

Pics Update

Hi all-

Just super busy here again. I have a few pics of the last days. Would you believe I have still not chopped this frigging scrog. More below.

Here's some of the Jack Herer on the floor. I've harvested 8/9. This one is a BOM contender I think.

And the Scrog...
These Foxtails have all appeared in the last 2 days. I'm pretty sure the plants were completely locked out. I believe they have recuperated now. They're putting on a nice final spurt.

Sorry there haven't been more updates. With all the wonderful things said about this journal - I fear it may be succumbing to the pressures of real life. I will try and be better about getting at least something up there more often. I just rarely like to type an update without pics.

Anyways...

Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

those are beautious creations ya got there.....i cant wait to try it again with a real plant this time....but i am using my learning curve....

the fox tails, my o.j. had rounded buds with foxtails all over it....some were 4 inches long, looked like a stringy nerf ball, but now in the jar, they are sticking togather and forming hugh buds....supposed to be a sativa trait...cant wait to see the dr. grinspoon buds...maybe this fall....

yes, i found the right size t5s for it (vertical scrog) and have most of the components now to finish that dismal room off...it will have buds but only the top 18" of the plants...so low yield....but who knows, so that is why im using it for the vertical grow....i guess in alot of ways it is a trellis....would seem that way....i can still pull and push and lift a little, so im ok with moving it, but i dont see another way to get the lights in there....there is one other option, but am still cking it out.....with hanging lights....i am still thinking also...but am beginning to build the scrogs for it....L:rollit:

Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

High Papa G,

Nice, nice, nice.

I put my kids into scrog land, but things seemed to have slowed down. Stress?

Light's at 24" above screen. Temp's around 85° at canopy. Too hot? I figured they'd start stretching under the MH after coming out of the t5s. Am I just impatient?
Or is it reaction to the new lighting?

I want buds tomorrow and don't want to work at it :)

Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

I am going through the same thing Papa. I have 2 strains that are said to finish in 8 weeks. I am on week 10 and thinking I should hit them with nutes again cause I cant find any amber in the trichs.I know I had an N def while flowering so I think that may have slowed them down a bit. They seem to be throwing white hairs out all over now more that ever.Yours look great bro. How much longer till chop would you say?

Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

i dont know who does the weeks or calculates it...but...i have never had one finish on the wks that they were supposed to...most of my sativas are going on 15-16 wks now, which is fine as i dont have a schedule to keep....and in the end they turn out fine...the wks are for an ideal grow, same seeds and everything else the same...thats the only way...L

go by what you see, the t's, not the wks listed...its just a ballpark figure anyway for us...

Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

I bet if you cut the light period from 12/12 to 11/13 or 10/14, the increased darkness could help tell your plants to hurry up and finish. A decent reduction in temps during the dark period would also help.

Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

too much sativa, tried the light thing for a while, they started to get male flowers, so that didnt work....and the cool thing, it is cool at dark, as cool as i can get it....but i know you're right...the light usually works, just not this time...and i really dont care, let them finish out....seems like waiting is my middle name...the indicas are fast tho....but i love the sativa's....thank you...know anything about albinism? just posted some pics on it...seems i have it on one or two plants...its pretty but different..really, thank you for the suggestions, i know they do work, just a disgusting day.....L

Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

Sweet man! Hell yea that SCRoG is going on and on....and on. Looks like about time though! Keep up the great work. I too am succumbing to real world stuff, and dont have the luxury to be on here all the time anymore, so I feel you!

Keep up the good work man!

Re: Papa Green's Utopian Sub v2 - You, Me, and Barney's Farm makes 3 - Perpetual 2000

Hi all. Been a while since an update, and unfortunately - I'm still running hectic. But time for a tiny update.

Re all the timeframes - the breeder's estimates are for perfect conditions throught the grow and no stress from topping, FIM, etc. I almost never hit it. Although the plants on the ground have been finishing on time. The scrog has gone on forever.

Still have not chopped all of it, but here's a nice Utopia Haze bud that has been chopped. There are a few others like this and I think one will be a BOM contender. The bud is very dense and pleasing looking. Still no smoke report or final weight. The total weight off the scrog so far, not including the Utopia Haze is 12.4oz.

Hopefully more updates soon. Also, I hope to have time to check out some other journals.

:tokin::Hookah:

P.S. - I still have not hit that magic 1' long cola in a scrog. This UH bud was close though, and damn fat. There may be another one or two in the scrog still that might hit it. I'll be chopping tonight.

When things are slow in the scrog I find its one of 3 things:
1 - Trying to weave too tight. If you get a fan leaf in a different hole from its branch, the plant will stop there. Look for stray fan leaves just under the canopy. My "Guideline/Rule of Thumb" is no fan leaves above the screen except the top two leaves on a growing tip. New ones will grow and they get trimmed or left on a per leaf basis.
2 - Nutes/Roots
3- Not enough light.

Yours is peachy.

Yeah, I had all brownish hairs two weeks ago and now so many white hairs its killing me to chop them. But they're ripe. Its time. I could prolly get away with another round of nutes, but I gotta move other plants into their space.

i dont know who does the weeks or calculates it...but...i have never had one finish on the wks that they were supposed to...most of my sativas are going on 15-16 wks now, which is fine as i dont have a schedule to keep....and in the end they turn out fine...the wks are for an ideal grow, same seeds and everything else the same...thats the only way...L

Yep. I agree 100%.

For sure 16 weeks? Wow gotta be bomb digity

What's crazy is the new top strain from Barney's is 14-16 weeks estimated. That's gonna be like 18-20 weeks for me.

I don't have the rooms to isolate the different time schedules that much unfortunately.

I'm gonna check out your albinos. From what I know the two things that spring to mind to cause white plants are high CO2 and bleaching from the light.

I think the waiting has paid off. Thanks for the continued support. The bud above is representative of the good stuff. Look out Nug of the Month contest next month.
:wood:

And its gonna be sooooooo close on the weight goal. I got a little more than I expected from the others, and after chopping a little of the UH I have renewed hopes. All I need is a little under 9oz from 3 plants. Gonna be close... I luuuuv it. The suspense is getting fun again.

Just a little note on the above bud and pics - that is definitely not a manicured bud in that pic. In fact no scissor has touched it yet. She looks much better when manicured.
