just an after thought. how far is ur net pot from rez? havent read whole journel so this may sound stupid (sorry i just dropped in and hate to repeat earlier stuff, hope im not) but what are seeds germed in? are sprayers keeping medium wet?

I find that wen using seed the best way to dwc is not to top feed or spray. if i germ in rockwool i will place in net pot once roots show and surround with pebbles. i will then dip in the nutrient solution and never again. i leave a clear 2-3 inch gap between net pot and nutes. if seedlings look droopy i would dip again but its rarely necessary. make the roots search for res and dont over water. if ur sprayers are on roots and theres a decent gap between net pot and res u really cant over water, its more when u initial media stays soaking thats the prob.

IMO they a touch young for base nutes. i'd add... voodoo juice, cannazym and optional extras piranha with touch of carbo load. focus on getting them roots started than worrying whats happening on top. rarely will u see great roots and poor plants but we often see large plants with poor roots. at nutes wen they ask for them. just takes a little practice mate. wen i add first nute mix its usually at 0.6-0.8ec (not sure in ppm) thats with my water at 0.2 ec. i dont like mixing strains on one system as there can be huge diffs in the way they perform, thats not to say it cant work though.

Hey Cult, thanks for the great info bro.:) with this new system , I'm now calling it the Aerocurrent. i had the nutes at .3 ec = 160ppms and it cooked the little things. nute strength recommendations from current culture is .2 ec or 75 ppms for rooted clones or plants in veg growth state. i reduced to .1 ec or 50 ppms using alkhemist recipe of organics , and silicon . i also added orca bennies. since the change i've seen new growth continue but my ec is creeping up so im going to dilute is some. the seeds are in root riot plugs (peat base) . i really appreciate you stopping by and sharing your vast knowledge with me. it means alot. :)

i have the res adout a half of inch below the net cups , but there are no air stones in the units just the sprayers and i had a problem earlier running the level lower , the root plugs where getting dry. the higher the water level in these units the more pressure they spray into the netpots. i was running sprayers one hr on one hr off. and again even with the higher water level the plugs looked to be drying out. i'm now running the sprayers constant with the lights on and one on one off during dark. i also tooks steps to get more conrol over my humidity by getting humity control and adding a second humidifier.

i knew it was going to be a learning process with this new system just hope it doesnt take me too long to get it dialed in.

well ive never used a sytem like this so be interesting to see how it works. i'd still add air stones to nutes, u cant over kill on o2.
 
in future try rooting the seedlings in tray until pellet is saturated with roots. then wen u place in system i would just leave sprayers off at first and just dip the net pot in the solution daily until roots start to show through net pots and use weak nutrient around 0.6 ec. Im not sure how an ec of 0.2 has been too hot, ive never experienced that before. are u sure its the ppms thats the prob? what nutes u using?

If its an option, Canna Aqua base nutes are fantastic for rdwc, ive never ever had an issue. simple 2 part for veg and simple 2 part in flower. BPN is great too but requires a little playing around with to get right nute mix. U cant go wrong with Canna.

ESPECIALLY when running a high n mix. Nitrogen and oxygen don't coexist all to well.

I have air stones in the controller res and the 290 gh pump keeps surface tension of the water moving. its the super oxygen level that is the reason my nute strength has to be super low. the makers of the undercurrents system recommend .15 ec for first week of veg. and im stuck in the seedling stage.

yeah i was burning them at .36 ec , thanks for the tip for starting them next time i'll root them up better before going into the system.
i''m curious about canna. have to check it out when i need more nutes.

right now i'm running just protekt and floralicious plus. water has 20 ppms of calmag and i added 15ml of heavy finish after diluting the res back down to 50 ppms or .1 ec

yep,what C said bro, try to leave the seedlings in the root riot plugs as long as you can so they have a more developed root ball before you put them in the system and personally when I transplant clones or seedlings into a system they get nothing but plain water for the first 5-7 days until they show good signs of new growth then I would start them off at 1/3 to 1/2 seedling strength nutes and slowly work my way up as needed.

hey jon , thanks for the great info. i have new growth but the girls still arent super happy. i'm going to fill the system with plain water and run it for a day then change res again only adding heavy roots additive and microbes , maybe a shot of prime to kick off the microbes. going to shoot for 40 ppms total. thanks for the help

Quick question with your HVAC skills, I have a six inch intake pulling air from ground level and I'm getting a lot of dust blowing into my tent, I don't have the space or money for a dust shroom so is there anyway i can use the filter from a furnace and pull out the material and use that to stop dust or do you know of anything better?

I used a duct can and installed my fan to it with foil tape then foil taped a cut out section of the a/c or furnace filter to the can. i did that when i was running my secret jardin tent . worked pretty good. :)

Lol same tent, you think a cheap filter will do over a super expensive one? I assume i will just have to change out More frequently? Thanks for your quick response.

EDIT: I searched and can't find a duct can, I swear it sounds familiar but can't think of it.
 
for the air coming into the room just cover the end of the duct with a piece of womens tights. fine grade ones. it works great.

i used a expensive allergen filter because i foil taped it to the can i didnt want to have to change it often. there are other options that will work as C pointed out. :)

Thats a dope DIY intake, I like that idea. Doesn't quite fit my situation but between you and C I think I can work it out.
 
well the HGK'S look better but the younger ones not yet. i added 12ml of sea green (humic and bennies) ppms are now 32 ph is 6.0. sprayers one hr on one hr off.

Ronnie, please dont take this the wrong way but have you started any other seedlings maybe for backup? Just thinking if not you should pop a few beans and root them like cultivator was talking about and in the long run you might get to harvest quicker. Hate to see them giving you such a harsh start. Wish I could appear with a couple of clones:)
