UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GSC

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

Hey there weaselcracker. That's some funny stuff right there man. Maybe you should send a note to GHS recommending that they change the name of the strain to Boomerang.

I had 3 seeds. I grew one on my first run which was very indica dominant and grew like a head of lettuce. My first batch of girls died of thirst while I was away on an extended trip so I can't really say how it would have turned out had it gone the distance. Needless to say I wasn't impressed.

This round I germinated both of the remaining 2 seeds. One pheno looked just like the first one but the other appears to be a different phenotype so I've decided to give her a spot in the Grove and see what she can do. I don't have high hopes but time will tell.

I just received 10 of Sensi's Jack Herer regulars with my recent seed order.
Sensi's JH will be appearing live on stage at the Ganja Grove sometime soon.

Great way to celebrate... Ribeyes and weed.

While giving the Ganja Girls a drink today I couldn't help but just stare at them and think how much they've grown in the past week. They're really filling in the gaps nicely and are reaching for the stars.

I'm really anxious to see how this Girl Scout Cookie will turn out.
She's a more sativa dominant pheno than her sister was so it will be interesting to see the differences in growth pattern, flowering time, and most of all, flavor and effect.

I was planning to transplant up my Girl Scout Cookies #1 mother and move her into the Grove to flower her out along with this group of girls but now I'm not so sure that there will be space available once these girls finish stretching out.
I think I'm going to just wait to see how things develop over the next 3 weeks or so before making a call.

Have a great day 420 friends!
:peace:

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

Thanks Celt. Everything seems to be going my way so far except for those burn leaf tips on a few of them.

I added a lot more vermicast to my potting mix before transplanting than I have in the past. I also added some rabbit and cow manure to my bins about 2 weeks before using the soil. Because I did both I'm not really sure which caused the burnt tips but it looks like it's not slowing them down any.
I guess I should back things off about a half turn in the future.

Yeah those gnomes, can really prune... :(
I'm curious what you'll think of that GHS Jack Herer. I grew it a while back and it was a real flop. Definitely some of the problem could have been in the growing-and the bud looked alright, but was fluffy and tasteless and just made me feel stupid. I gave it to a friend and he gave it to his friends and they gave it back (incredible that they would give back free herb!). I still have it- the bud that is, not the plant, which I pulled. I'll render it down. And someday get the 'real' Jack from Sensi seeds.

I think that may be the only time that has ever happened! :laughtwo: Only you Weaselcracker :battingeyelashes:

+Reps on a beautifully orchestrated harvest UncleCannabis.

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

So long as the girls are flourishing, I wouldn't be concerned about a few burnt tips ;)

I'm not concerned in the least bit. They'd better just suck it up and get used to it.

If they think they've got it tough now just wait till' they meet the Ganja Grove gnomes. LOL!

Thanks Sue but I think I bit off more than I was able to chew this time.
I now remember how much I love trimming. Can you smell the sarcasm?

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

I posted in my thread that I found amber trichomes on the Cheese Candy, so your contention was sound. The soil does indeed allow the maturation of the trichomes. We just stopped watching for it.

I'm harvesting her in the morning.

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

Interesting. I hope she gives you the effect that you enjoy and didn't lose anything or become too couch lock for your liking by letting her go longer than you would have normally allowed her to.

Kudos for taking on this little experiment.
:bravo:

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

You're welcome. The changes were obviously already underway, and I was watching pistils instead. If you hadn't asked me to participate I might have let her go too long, so thank you.

That overworked guardian angel of mine should get a bonus for this one. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Re: UncleC's Ganja Grove - Organic Soil - LED - SOG - La Chocolat/Vanilla Kush/LSD/GS

If you think about it, whatever would prevent trichs from turning from cloudy to amber would essentially be acting as a preservative.
If some type of mineral were to effect the plant in this way then it should also have a similar effect on either the whole plant or at least on other parts of the plant as well, not only the trichomes.
Now if this were in fact the case which may still be a possibility it would only work for so long before the natural effect of aging and degradation of the plant would occur, trichomes included.

What will be our next little experiment? Shall I be the one to volunteer next time?

How long would you let one go? What would be your determinant of "Done"?

Hey Uncle....great journal, took my time & enjoyed it all. Mellow growers here. That's an awesome set-up! Strains!:Namaste:

I think organic gardening makes gardeners mellow. :laughtwo: We are definitely a laid-back bunch. :passitleft:

1. When I notice that the pistils are beginning to change to a different shade of color this would be the point that I begin to watch them closely, or if growing outdoors, make more frequent visits to check on them.
2. Not long after the pistils color changes you should notice the buds packing on more bulk which usually also meant more staking and tying toward the end to keep colas from falling over and breakage of stems and branches. This seemed to occur about 2 weeks before harvest on my recent indoor grow.
3. Next the pistils would begin curling and receding back. They really start looking like they're stressed or something at this point due to leaves curling and twisting at the bud sites, yellowing of the flag leaves, etc. Similar to what you probably see with your girls as they are closing in on the home stretch.
4. When approximately 75 to 80% of pistils have curled and receded on the larger colas and buds and most all of the pistils at the very tip of these same colas and buds have receded then this would be when I would normally try to harvest.

Although I'm sure that there are better ways this always seemed to work out for me.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit brightlight. I've been lurking around your current journal and I must say that a compliment from you means a lot.
