Twnewell's First Grow

Quick question. Should I "Top" my plants? And if so anyone have a link that would help my learn how to do it?
I top all of my plants for several good reasons, first and foremost, more yield. Check out my current grow journal for notes on my recent toppings. Choice of where to top is very determinant as to the final shape of your plant and in my opinion, the quality of your product.

All looking good after there topping.

Best time to water? I'm sure my plants are dry, or close to it, my question is the best time to water? I'm sure they will survive till morning, lights out is in 3 hours. Would it be better to water now or wait till morning?
The very very best time to water is at lights on in the morning. They rise up to greet the day and are in full transpiration at this time, and if you water slowly enough you will notice that they take a little extra in the mornings, the amount that uptakes directly into the plant while you are sitting there. Of course the rule is that if you are questioning watering before bed, wait.

Also noticed new growth in the corner between the node and stem of each plant.

I am following my own advice and upon feeling some water weight in the containers, even though it is as dry as the Sahara on top with the soil starting to separate from the sides of the container... I am waiting to water again. I will get home from work in around 6 hours and I will check again at that time. Almost everyone I know would be watering at this time, but I am more patient than most. Patience above all else... that is the key to being smarter than the plant you are growing.
