Got a question team and need some input. My nutes have a ratio for pre-flower, this is what has been in the res for the past week due to the intentions of flipping the lights this week. Should I use the pre-flower ratio for yet another week or move to full flower ratio? At most throughout this grow the amounts have not succeeded 50% strength. Let me know your thoughts please.

If it was me i would use the preflower ratio until at least the first week after the flip. I run my regular veg nutes with a booster thats supposed to increase the number of bid sites for the first week after flip since the girls are still doing some veg growth then. Get some more opinions maybe as thats just mine.

That absolutely makes sense. Every inch of both plants has been very well examined today. It has been determined that, as you stated, there is growth still to be had on the lower downs. So with your suggestion and my investigation discoveries tonight, pre-flower nutes for a bit longer. Due to a math error that was caught on my last res change, my res change day has moved from Thursday to Sunday. So on Sunday again the gals shall get a res change. Perhaps a stronger batch as well. Thank you for your input Lazarus.

Found the first real critter in the tent tonight. This bug was impossible to catch a photo of, would not cooperate at all. Worse than an infant when the photographer has no clue how to get the kid to smile....In any case it was an "ensign wasp". They do not sting people. They are a beneficial insect for the females seek and destroy cockroaches, their main meal. They lay their eggs inside of cockroach eggs that when hatched consume those eggs. I was able to capture it and put it outside to go on the hunt for the ever dreaded palmetto bugs. They are also known as "hatchet wasps". They look like a cross between a spider and an ant. They move their abdomen up and down like a flag, they are black with wings about a 1/4 inch long.

Question man here tonight. Would 3 gal buckets work as well as the current 5 gal ones? They are 2/3 less in height. Not yet a problem but could see this in the future.
I've seen people do it in smaller sizes but to share my experience, when they start getting big they drink a lot. I've had some that drink a gallon and a half a day. Considering that in a 5 gal bucket (depending what nets you use) you can get only 3.5 to 4 gallons in there (depending on root size) to maintain a small air zone under the pots. If something comes up and you miss a light cycle in flower the buckets can be almost empty by the next cycle. Plus the smaller the rez the more you end up with pH fluctuations. If you need more head space i would suggest using a lower profile tote style dwc to get it and still keep a good size reservoir. Again, just one growers opinion, man.

It does not appear that I am to run into any issues. I saw the 3gal buckets in black at the hrydro shop and was thinking hey these are shorter....hmmmm. But you are correct. These babies are consuming water at about a half inch per day. And the bucket only starts out with 3 gal 1 qt each now. And again Lazarus, thanks. Have a great Friday.

I agree with Lazarus advice keep pre-flower till the buds start growing which will take a little bit after you switch... Also there is what they call the "pre-flower stretch" for photoperiod plants which I would assume would benefit from at least some veg nutrients.
