And good news THEY FOUND A HEART!

Lolling.

So just a bit of a health shout out. My cholesterol is always high. High to the point after I turned 50 and my doc did a full blood 🩸 pee 💦 poop 💩 panel, it can back as 7.8, which is way over the 4 your heart wants.

So treatment options, high cholesterol = statin medication. They work like magic lowering cholesterol but can come with side effects. Evidence based study now shows that you really only need that medication if there is calcium building plaque in your actual heart arteries.

So to fit the criteria for a cholesterol lowering medication your score needs to be over 100. Mine was zero. Which is great news for me. I think this also highlights the overprescribed statins we see amongst people with cholesterol problems. The test is not covered by Medicare or private health and in my country it cost $160. But for me it was $160 well spent. Had I not taken this test I would have bee prescribed a medication I don’t yet need.

Just thought I’d share in case others were on a statin and hadn’t had a Cardio Score done.

That's great Tra. Personally I would stay away from statins, but if folks do, I believe they should consider taking some CoQ10 in addition as it gets depleted and is very important for the heart. K2 helps the Ca not to be deposited in the arteries, my neighbour's arteries were loaded with Calcium and he took K2 3 times a day for a year which cleaned them out.

100%

There is a place for statins so I don’t want to come across as anti Pharma coz I’m not. The secret is to make sure you need them.

The interesting thing, I spoke to our hospital pharmacist about CoQ10, and while there is clinical evidence - keeping in mind you can manipulate “clinical” evidence to support what ever you are selling, there isn’t yet independent scientific evidence to support this. Well there wasn’t a couple of years ago.

Imo vitamin companies are like “Big Pharma” on acid. At least drug companies have to be somewhat regulated and accountable. Vitamin companies are like charetteons look I know that’s spelt wrong and my spellcheck can’t find a replacement. I mean like in the old days where the con man woukd ride into town selling water as a wonder cure. It’s barbaric what these companies are allowed falsely promise and sell and the ignorant don’t realise they are just making expensive piss.

When I had my last cholesterol test, years ago, it was to the high side of normal. I personally wouldn't go on statins, either, so, just in case, I take a green tea extract with the active ingredient of Theaflavin.

There's a random controlled study showing Theaflavin lowers bad (LDL) cholesterol and helps the good (HDL) cholesterol. I drink a lot of tea anyways, but the Theaflavin levels in the supplement are equivalent to something like 35 cups (it's non-caffeinated) and equal to what was dosed in the study.

EDIT: I should add that I don't know if it's worked for me because I don't have the before/after numbers.

EDIT #2: Here's a link to the actual study: Cholesterol-lowering effect of a theaflavin-enriched green tea extract: a randomized controlled trial - PubMed

That’s great :)

I love people who are proactive in nurturing their health.

Not that you wanted my recommendations lol, I recommend this test. It’s the only real way to know. It’s so simple. BP and ECG first then 3 minutes in the CT.

It doesn’t look like it’s covered there by Private Health either.

If I need statins I’d totally take them. They are one of the reasons people live so. fucking. long now lol.

My people die young. Look mostly coz of poor life style choices, but both mum and dad had cardiac issues in their 50’s which they both took medication for rather than adjusting lifestyle choices.

I’m actually healthy living. I eat a really healthy diet, and I exercise. That said I defs like a good piece of cake. Carbs are my one true love lol.

Omg I’m so proud to get this plant done. You have no idea. I loved my Mimmy Mimosa Eva as I called her coz I misread the strain lol. She just represented so much to me. She was so beautiful till it went wrong. I tried so hard to make her sing. And my heart still hurts when I think of that morning after a hard nightshift. When I killed her and threw her all over my yard #trama4Lyf lol I’m not sure of the trigger, but if I had to guess it would be mummy issue related lol.

My redemption song. Omg I learned so much. Main thing being spidermites can be controlled. Bic Bee was an honour to grow. I worked hard to both shape and keep her healthy. She has rewarded me with buds that smell just like honeysuckle and oranges. Her perfume is so pretty you could wear it.

Her bud looks good. Real nuggets. Even the small nugs like the one pictured look good. I think I’ll get between 2 and 2 and a half Oscar’s. That said I’m still hoping for 3. Got some mint trim too.

OK, I'm not a doctor or a nurse (although, I did sleep at a Holiday Inn! ) so don't take anything I say as medical advice, but...

Statins work great at reducing cholesterol and, if you believe the drug companies and FDA (which is getting more and more difficult to do! ), the risks are low for serious side effects.

However, the brain is largely made up of fat tissue and, in my personal opinion, the spike in things like Alzheimer's and Dementia is directly linked to the increased use of statin medications.

Hyppocraties, the "Father of Modern Medicine" (Doctors take the "Hyppocratic Oath" to first do no harm, etc. in his honor, even if they don't honor their oath!) said, "Let thy food be thy medicine and thy medicine be thy food" and I take that to heart.

I'm very into natural remedies and healthy foods, and especially staying away from putting chemicals in my body. I go to ridiculous lengths to avoid them including making almost everything I use or consume which is everything from my own laundry detergent to home-made ketchup & mustard to just about everything else.

I almost never take medications, although, I wouldn't turn down an antibiotic if I needed one. Vaccines are a life-saving technology but, what we now put in vaccines as adjuvants and preservatives I'd never want in my body, and you can bet everything you hold dear that I would never inject myself with the current versions of MRNA vaxes.

I did get what I believe was Covid a couple of months ago which was the first time I've been sick with anything in years.

I don't knock anyone who does things differently than I do (most people do!) and if what one is doing is working for them, it's a great thing. It's just not the way I do it! ;)

:Namaste:

Babe I’m too tipsy and stoned for this conversation but for the first bit, I’m calling bullshit. The reason dementia figures have escalated is coz the fucking statins are keeping people alive waaaaaaaaay too long!

I’m going to address this tomorrow coz the only thing I love more than [*EDITED BY ADMIN (me) Due to lewd and inappropriate language*] is a good debate. It’s where I usually find what I believe to be true is in fact bullshit.
