TimHomeGrow FastBuds Autos In Soil

Have you seen any nanners in there? Did the RH spike?
I lowered the humidity as the ither two have filled out and are finishing. I haven't seen nanners and looked....going to look again now.

I'm guessing, not 100% sure, when I fried them a bit with the nutes it slowed them down, could it have done this?.

While it's emptying it's base, the outside of the pot is nowhere near as wet as the others....but all are drinking 1/2 gal a day. I've had concerns with how she feels with both wetness at the pot and sometimes weight of the pot.

It's strange. And I feel as if the branches have already lost some strength as there is not enough weight in buds on them to make them so easy to sway and sag.

Even the top of her colas haven't been looking right. They are mostly all flat in top as if they were cut that way, no conical shape

Yea, I'm really wondering if she's not getting enough water via the base. But the water dissappear in 2 days.

It will be interesting to see.
Tim, I was having kinda' the same issue with one of my swicked plants (it was drinking but it's pot was always heavy). I got her to right herself by putting less water, and sometimes no water, in the swick base over time. Those pots should cycle between heavy and light. They should be allowed to get somewhat light before adding substantial amounts of water to the base.

This one always seemed light, today was the first day she seemd heavy.

I took the microscope to it this morning. For her only being 12 days or younger then the others, the buds looks further behind in size. However the tricomes are almost further ahead. I think I mist have stunted her and shes just turning with age...maybe.

By comparison, my other sativa dominant, Orange sherbert has trics like this. Her buds are full, swollen and pistils all curled.

Not much I can do but just follow this train to the end.

I'm seeing mostly cloudy on both, particularly in the two sharp pics.
That's my point, I feel like the Blue Dream bud isn't anywhere near maturing but has cloudy trics and amber pistils. Based on rhe size/density of the buds....the trics should be mostly clear but they are mostly cloudy. I think she got stunted or something and the buds didnt, and maybe wont, swell.

day 77 above ground (Day 67 for Blue Dream)

Orange Sherbert looked like it didn't drink anything, or very litte in 48 hrs with the amount of water remaining in the base. It has been 17 days since I moved or cleaned the base and wicks....was curious if I had to based in things I read about these bases. Some didn't and didn't have issues, others had roos grow into the base or wicks. My wicks were wet....she just didn't seem to drink.

Well, time to remove the plants and check them all. This was Orange Sherbert, 17 days after the last cleaning:

Cleaned the roots, washed the wicks, washed the bases and rest it all. Honestly, it's a PITA. I'm not sure if the benefits out weigh this hassle...we shall see. I may let the bases go dry for 24 next time to see. The roots not only grew into the wicks, but traveled down the wicks and came out the ends in mass.

Until it stopped drinking, everything else seemed fine. Yes she had a rough mid flower period (user error), she's been going well since. She will be a nice harvest even though she's a little ugly :)

GSC, was completely different and still drinking normally. Sorry, forgot a pic of the wicks, just a little root attaching to wicks.

I'll have to decide.what I do about these bases for next grow, or if I do something else. The two biggest autos I ever grew a d the "small" one is impressive as well. I like thr SIP concept....just not sure if this is it. But only 1 of 3 had the issue

Well, two days with clean wicks and shes still not sucking up water. I guess I should have replaced the wicks with new ones after roots grew through them. Four days with little water, no choice to but water from the top.

Now I'm looking at GroBuckets for the next one. I like the wicking system in many ways, but having it stop working isn't a good thing. I also wonder if they didn't get enough water in early/mid flower. They drank 1/2gal a day but these girls were pretty large. @Grand Daddy Black you went with the square wick pattern and I remember you saying it may have been too.much water. Do you still feel that way? I'm wondering if the "x" pattern didn't deliver enough water, hence the roots growing into the base in 17 days.

I don't believe the square wick set-up wicked too much water. My issue was user error. I was just putting too much in the reservoirs early on and I was not allowing the pot to lighten before filling up the res again.

And I believe you could have avoided that issue you had with roots invading the wicks just by lifting the pots off the bases daily and perhaps turning them a bit. I had a lot of roots escape my pots but none had time to grab hold to the wicks or otherwise interfere with them because the pots were repositioned daily.

Yea, I tried rotating often but it's tight in that tent. Definitely need to clean the wicks every 12-14 days for sure. I'll try letting thr base dry out too, maybe that will help. Overall I really like them. Thanks

day 84

while I feel they should be close to done by now, they certainly aren't ready yet.

Orange sherbert...mostly all amber pistils

I'm thinking just a few more days for GSC and Orange Sherbert.

day 97 above ground, 69 days flowering. (87 and 59 for Blue dream)

im thinking of harvesting tomorrow, just so ai can spend next weekend trimming :)

GSC...she is.slowing down her drinking

Orange Sherbert...her drinking has slowed significantly. More like sipping water :)

Blue dream (59 days flowering). While she is behind the other in age, her trics are on par. She didn't swell but I think k that's more because of getting nute burn. She's still TBD for harvest. Part of me wants to harvest with the rest, just to see. I read an article a while back that said sativa dominant strains are better harvested before trics really turn amber as it gives more of a head high.

Yesterday was harvest day! Tricomes looked good and the buds looked great once I trimmed all the ugly dead leaves :)

Girl Scout Cookie
Her roots also grew into the wicks and down into the base. For the next grow I'll be using the AC Infiniti fabric pots, apparently that helps
I will also allow the bases to go dry for 24hrs before refilling. Very little larf

Orange Sherbert....she was a beast at 32" tall and 33" wide. Her buds are rock solid and should produce some great smoke

the flop :)

Blue Dream. While I stunted her and her buds never.swelled, they are dense and frosty. Also.a very large auto at 31" tall and 31" wide. This and Orange Sherbert are by far the largest autos I have ever grown. It's one of the reasons I'll be using the wicking g bases again. While they pose some challenges, I feel I can improve on it to make it even better. Interesting, this plant never had her fabric pot soaked up 1/3 of the way and no.salts on the outside. Yet she always drank and the roots never grew into the bases

Crazy these three autos filled almost as much on the drying racks as the 4 photo grow I did two years ago that produced 1.9lbs.

made sure to get the sea shells for Shed too :)

Already have 4 seeds popping for the next go around where I'll use MC again. While I struggle with MC in midflower....hard to argue the final results. But I will also try GH Flora Trio as well as I have never used liquid nutes and hoping it may serve me, and the wicks, better.
