THsea Grows Indoors Soil

Hey THsea! I was on a kick a while back, wondering about crossing autos with photos, and found a LOT of talk about it, out in cyber space. A search turned up lots to read, although I'm sure you've probably done some reading already. Just wanted to throw that out there.
They say the auto trait will usually stick around in a good portion of the next generation, but waiting to find them would be a chore, I suppose...
'Twould be interesting to watch though!

Well, we will definitely fool around with the idea eventually... Hopefully within the next three grows.. I'd love to have auto-flowering Kona Coffee's. I bet that would be one hell of a chore to create! :) I'd really like to get my hands on landrace ruderalis. I don't care if its garbage, it would be fascinating to play with.

I'll do more reading when the time gets closer... We will pollinate a branch of the Star Ryder, for sure. Gotta manage my time or I'll end up reading for like 10 hours straight online... Not good.

So I took a really nice big cutting off of the Kauai plant.. I'm gonna just call it that for short. I think it may have actually said on the bag "Kauai, HI"... But I really don't know. A huge and vigorous plant though. Crossing my fingers for a female... A male would really ruin my day. I'd still collect the pollen. Like I said, male or female... Impressive.

Auto flowering Kona Coffee's? That strain needs Folgers in the name some where, no? Maybe call it "K cup" if anyone knows what those are, lol. Sorry couldn't resist, I like that game, too. ;)

(To the tune of the Folgers commercial song): "The best part of wa-king up, is Folgers in your... blunt?"

It's happened before and in this season it's happening again. Strange desire
If I had a tray or two of Rude Hybrid babydolls, I could try to hide them under the Sun.
Come back later on a GPS search with the same backpack.
Let them find luck for life just to meet my knife. My photos get cut to begin their's.

Kona K-cups? Been promising myself one of those fancy pump machines, but
In my town, there's a boutique sized roaster who rocks. Best coffee, a spoiler
Canned coffee is an insult after fresh roasted, but @$22/lb? I drink tea usually.

Thsea, I have a question for you. I'm not a soil grower at all. Infact my wife and I have a hard time growing anything in a garden lol. Hydro I seem to be doing ok at but I need some advice on my mother plants which are in soil. What should I use as far as a soil mix goes for my mums? We currently have them in like 3 gallon pots with Miracle Grow potting soil. They aren't looking thier best at the moment and we need to change that.

Thanks for any input!

Fancy? I use a vietnamese coffee strainer... All of three dollars.. And the new orleans chickory blended coffee that is so commonly used with it... These are metal strainers that sit right on your cup. Very portable.

Coffee with a joint is awesome. Possibly the best way to wake up.

Yo Mr. Alaska, I'm no expert... I use a nutrient rich soil, Fox Farms Ocean Forrest... Happy Frog (from the same company) is a bit cheaper, and you get about a half cubic foot more in the bag. OMM prefers the frog... FFOF is easier to access for me, its what the local hydro shop carries.

If they are moms... Are you doing the "bonsai" mother thing? 3 gallon pots are a nice size... I always kind of wondered if airpots and smart pots would negate the need to trim the roots on them... I don't know.

In what way are they not looking their best? Like... Leaf curling? Or just droopy? It's amazing that you find soil difficult... Yet can do hydro!!! Impressive, soils just not difficult enough for you friend! Is there a reason that you cannot have mothers in hydro? Or is this a silly question?

But yea... I've had wonderful success with ocean forest, or at least I think its pretty good! :)

EDIT: pics will be up in a little bit guys. Finishing taking them now.

Hey guys, small update tonight. Just the four commercial photo's.

I took cuttings today, from each of the three... And one large cutting from the Kauai. Hopefully they make it. Only one looks a bit... Sketchy... I took the ASHaze ahead of time.. On accident :)

Hey THSea, nice plants! I'm curious as to how those two Autos grow. I've actually been looking at those two to purchase, so it'll be nice to see how they grow.

Thank you! I'll try to keep them alive then! :)

Critical + auto is a good auto strain. Really don't know anything about the Shot Adrenaline... The plan is to give them 24 hours of light until they are approaching their last week or two... Then I'll drop them in a 12/12 before harvest... Critical+ is 6.5" tall so far. Hopefully she will grow grow grow!

Yes, we are doing the bonsai mum thang
They are looking a little droopy and some leaf curling. I really need to look at some photos and see if I can pinpoint it down. We have been using the Alaska fish fertilizer 5-1-1 every other week. water when they need it. When I get a chance tomorrow I will put some photos up on my journal so everyone can peak at them.

Those are some damn nice plants ya have. 6.5? no shit huh lol I could only wish! This summer may try an outdoor grow. I have a friend with 100 acres out in the middle of nowhere :)

Cool! I might suggest... Since the mom's are a long term thing, maybe Osmocote+.. Maybe even just refreshing the soil, load up some new stuff on top.. *itsamystery*. I'm having a lot of curling on my haze.. Not fun!

Ah man, outdoors would be epic! I'd go nuts man. Veg something like, my height.. Then put her out! :theband:

Just gonna put it out there, I keep my mothers in 3gal pots filled with FF Happy Frog ( it's not as hot as FFOF) just watch your PH and remember to flush all should be fine. I water them 1-2 a week and feed them once every 2 weeks ( 5ml BPN micro, bloom, and grow/gal of RO water +1/8 tsp supertrive and PH to 6.8).

Looking good Buddy...Healthy Girls!:high-five:

Hey OMM, yea, I like them! :high-five: Just like you, sometimes I just stare at them. :)

Awesome! I was hoping someone would help out! :bravo:

Not to be argumentative... But I thought you don't have to really worry about ph in soil when using 3gallons+...? Well, I guess if its a long term plant maybe the rules are different. I've got a really nice ph reader... Never used it.

You know your stuff, and I wouldn't doubt for a second that what you do works! Infact, I've seen your journal! I love the soda can thing, its awesome.

EDIT: vintage, today is day 10 of flower.. started showing trich's yesterday

xtra edit! was talking to OMM and decided to measure the C+auto... grew over half an inch over night woohoo!

You right if you are using organics, the micro herd will help correct the ph imbalance. After about a month the organic nutes in the soil are mostly used up and I start using BPN 3 part.

Organics are great I just got tired of the smell...I bubbled my own mix... However the BPN organic line might not be to bad, I see good results so far!

I just looked through some of your journal, and your plants are looking great THsea! Excellent strains, too. I am really interested in the Dr. G.
Are you still not pHing? I am using FFOF and General Organics nutes and don't bother checking pH. The plants do very well. (As long as I don't let them dry up.) LOL. What nutes did you end up using?
I will also be cool to see how tall and how fast your autos end up.
Good work, and good luck!

Cool! I figured I was missing something :) Thank you.

'ello tricome! Thank you, nice of you to say that. I'm excited about Dr.G also, hopefully she yields decent... Though I hear its low yields for a long flower... Whatever, I wanted to try it :)... I thought about how to go about this growing thing for a long time. I'm pretty confident it will turn out okay... So far so good! :thumb:

Still no PHing, I'm using.. A mild kelp thing.. Silica Blast.. and epsom salts... Really my main nutrients are from OC+. Things will change when I get a job. Been looking at our sponsor Humate Supreme. Very interesting. But, not this grow! We're keeping it cheap. The goal is to just not have to purchase my meds any longer... I'll try to keep a detailed eye on the auto's. They are a fascinating bunch of cannabis.... I bet C+ will be 8 inches or taller tomorrow. It would blow my mind if I got an ounce off her!

Hey guys... When I woke up, I measured the Critical+ auto... She hit 8" exactly. Just like I thought she would! I'm giving her sunshine today. She's keeping Vintage 2006 company. I'll do pictures again on... Wednesday? Sound good friends?

So I have something to talk about. Whats up with my stems? They are all bendy and i don't like it! I've been giving Silica... I try to keep them well watered (without over-doing it)... Is it more likely that I water to much or to little? Aye aye aye...

Re-arranged the closet... Wow. OMM, the weird SOG idea i've got... If I've got stems like this, totally wont work without supporting... Blah.

Another question! I don't know if i've asked this.. So i apologize if I did (couldn't find it, but I didn't look hard)... But I need a strain that meets very specific criteria... Needs to have robust stems, LST well, handle FIMing well.. I'm thinking a fast growing sativa... I was thinking Kauai, but really she doesn't like FIM or topping... She likes to go straight up and bush on her own.. ASHaze would really be a good candidate, if the main stem weren't so brittle... It handles FIM'ing well.. Hm.. Actually, maybe a Haze would be a good choice... But I'd like something with stronger side branching than ASHaze. This is the kicker, the quality of this plant doesn't matter (in terms of flowers). So... If you grew something that was kind of junk, but met the criteria.. Chime in.

Edit: Wow, seeing the Critical next to the Vintage... Vintage is almost a lime green, very light... The critical is just dark dark green :) Neat stuff. I think I'd be pretty disappointed if the C+ doesn't get to at least a foot tall. Four inches to go... The first wave of auto's I did got into showing some buds and stopped most upward growth. DinaFem seeds says it should get between 2 and three feet... Shoot, none of my photoperiod plants are that tall! I think thats kind of a wake up call to start repotting. Not today though! ;)

So how do you flush a soil plant? I know how to on my hydro system lol

I am heading to my hydro shop to pu some FF Happy Frog. I will need to pu something so I can test the PH in my soil as well.

From the sound of it any of your plants could be LSTed, if they are that bendable. Don't know what's up with that. We will talk more about it today.:high-five:
