Themaddabber's Hempy Bucket Bathtub Grow 2017

Great stuff gang! Yeah not looking to really change much I'm happy with all their growth right now. I'm still at a low Ppm. I'm definitely a math and science man tho so that post was right up my alley sun! I'm the same way I don't pretend i don't make mistakes. I just like to understand why because once I do I am far less likely to repeat said mistake :)

So just a quick peek at the girls

Looks like Abbies mutation/ deformity is only affecting half the plant... weird! It's really weird because each leaf was effected but only on half of the leaf, and on the same side respectively. Very curious to see how the next set of leaves will develop! That's all for now. Hope everyone had a recharging weekend.

Here's a shot of the new growth

I messed with the colors so it was easier to see. It seems to me the near side of the plant has the mutation/ deformity. If the far side displays normal growth I will take a clone from her down the road with the hope that arm has all normal growth :)

So I casually put a couple things in the Amazon cart they got ordered voodoo juice and pirhana are on the way as well as a little oscillating fan and a better digital temp humidity thermometer! Pretty stoked.

Any one have recommendations on the new mass boosters it would be appreciated just assume that I would start very slow. And it's only used once every week or 2? I'll be looking into it here post post lol.

And where my coco crew at??? Should my coco be getting dry at all? Or just when they feel much lighter than they do post watering to runoff? I know you want to aim for 1 watering a day but I don't think their roots dont drink enough yet and it's more like every other day.....

Never let coco dry out, it will lock old salts to the coco and cause nute lockout. You want to water it everytime it feels lighter when lifted. I water mine when it still feels a little heavy in small pots because I know if I wait to water the next day they will be completely dry.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I let them dry too much originally and that's why I kept thinking I had nute burn.... well I did get nute burn but it was from the salts like you said not actually the strength of my nutes lol. But I'm rolling with the punches! I went ahead and watered them earlier today. Girls all have new growth that looks lush and HAPPY :) I'll get some pics in good lighting this evening. The nodes seem to really be stacking nice and tight now that they are under the LED. The Bag seed is maybe 1.5 inches outta the coco and on the 3rd set of leaves may be topping a very very stout little thing this weekend lol!

If you let them dry out too much you should water with heavy runoff the next few times to help rinse the salts from the fibers.
Yeah I gave the 2 that had the problem a really nice flush as soon as I realized what I was doing wrong :) all is well now though.

Apparently I need to get a life if it takes me until the afternoon to get through all the threads I'm subscribed to in order to find mine and post.

So I've been busy checking out when and how often to use the mass builders that are on their way. The plan is todo the voodoo juice in low concentrations during veg and leave pirhana for flower time.

Now what I've been waiting to get to. I'm beginning a little project that I've had on my mind for a while now. Since I'm growing in a bathroom there is a a ceiling vent, however especially with cold weather nipping at our heals (if you ask me it's already here) I want to avoid pushing good warm air out into below 0°f, and instead pump it back into the house.

I think this application is useful for just about anyone growing in a closet, room where they don't want to vent outside, or [in my case] a bathroom.

The plan is to remove the existing door, and construct new door. One that has a light proof passive intake on the bottom, and a place for the warm exhaust to exit out the top. I will not be using the existing door because I'm a renter and don't want to have to replace it.

First step was to pick up some aluminum roof flashing for idk dirt cheap at homie depot as well as some freebie painter stir sticks. I have cut the "L" shaped aluminum flashing into approximately 11inch pieces and will use the paint sticks to shim a space for the air to flow through between each cut piece of metal.

I still have a long way to go but hope to pioneer a breathable door as an alternative for those who are weary of sawing holes into their ceilings.

That's all for now friends. Pictures and an update to follow tonight. They are really starting to take off now :)

So you are going to replace the bathroom door with a modified one. The modded one will have an air vent in the bottom and the exhaust fan will be piped through a hole in the new door with air venting into the rest of the apartment?

Should be simple to accomplish as long as you don't mind the smell (charcoal filters notwithstanding!).

Not sure why you need the flashing and sticks when you can get a vent cover really cheaply.
Master Flow 12 in. x 12 in. Plastic Wall Louver Vent in White-SL12x12 - The Home Depot

To make it light proof is just a part of a cardboard box open only on the bottom covering the vent on the inside of the door.

That's the idea shed!

Had no clue they mad them that big! Oops haha well to be honest I think I spent 5 bucks. Only took a little work :) so no harm no foul I suppose. But great to know!

I still plan on enclosing/ light proofing the tub area in time for 12 12. And yes I will be running a carbon filter. Wife had 1 condition to approve this grow. NO smell! I'm going to try and run the ducting along the ceiling of the bathroom over to the door. But now I think of it shed I'm sure one of those vents you mentioned would be perfect for the exhaust vent!

See 2 minds > 1

I just grabbed some 1 x 2s for the new door's frame today as well.

Gonna see if I can get the vent finished up real quick.

I never let my coco dry. Mine is always wet with runoff. And I just feed back the run off plus a bit extra.
Awesome thanks swag

I water to runoff as well. I was wondering about recycling the runoff too, I had the same idea, but worry if there is any salt build up it would just put it back. I feel like I'm wasting nutes though watching all that good solution just slither down the drain lol

If the coco is always wet and u water everyday and there's always a pool on the drip tray then I wouldn't worry about build up. I know I don't.

The hardest part is finding your own thread lol. I get very overwhelmed and lost with the abundance of notifications. I use voodoos juice in the final pot in veg and the beginning of flower, great stuff and roots explode. Oh and I only ever use half there recommended strength with every feed at those times. Shits to expensive for anymore than that in my case.

Ok time for a real update.

Gloria is doing well, despite her burn.

I finished the vent. Came out smaller than I would have liked so I'm considering making a second :)
