The70's Redux: SourDiesel - Mac1 - SuperSilverHaze - WhiteWidow

Week5:

Morning growers😌
The girls are settling into their new home. The 2.6gal pots are full of food and i can tell they no longer need the CalMag+, theres 444 and worm castings to keep em healthy. The Lite is at 40DLI and they look like they are enjoying that too. Im a little conservative on lite output….. they are taking advantage of the topping and making 2 new branches each.

Well, after looking over my grow notes for this grow i over did the calmag+(i think) my plants have “nute burn”, my hope that the next few waterings will flush a bit out of the soil, they are taking a hit for sure

So for so good, i am battling some issues, as always Nute issues. When they were pups i was adding a bit of calmag+ because the soil didn’t have any nutes. Once i transplanted them into fertilizer rich soil i should have discontinued the calmag+ but i continued for (4) waterings, not good… not the end of the world, but too much nutes🙄

Soil PH is 7.0….i used my bluelabs soil tester for the first time after calibration

This is the beginning of week 7

Halfway through week8:

Things are greatly improved, i have done a few flushes with PH’d water only, i did a little defoliating, did some LST by tying some branches to level off the canopy. I physically raised the lites and the lab jacks and lowered the LED intensity. With all these things im back in business, but im not rushing into flower, between the lites stressing them out, and the overdose of nitrogen, they need to bask in the LED sun for a while before flower…..

Hey I happened across your journal and we have a lot of similar things going on. I'm going hang around and watch if ya don't mind. You have three girls going that are on my bucket list of strains to grow lol.

Just a heads up with Gaia Green, it's relatively low on calcium and I've been chasing calcium every grow especially through flower. In my current grow Ive been able to stay on top of it by using dolomite water. Other than that I love Gaia Green, super easy to use.

I have to remember its a journey with growing, i have so much more to learn.
I was blasting them with light and feeding em calmag+ which are great products but used judiciously, same with the light, i mean they wanna live hahaha i just gotta use my head and learn

They look pretty lush so I think your doing just fine haha.

Are you going to switch to Gaia Bloom when it comes to flower? I like to use a 50/50 mix of the All Purpose 4-4-4 and the Bloom 2-8-4 for a feeding or two right before the flip.

Also you should check out @Gee64 's GeeSpot thread. He's a fellow Gaia Green user and all around organic dude. He's been really helpful for me getting a handle on my grows and solving some issues I have had on the past grows.

Yup, at the flip, i mix 444 and 284. I have followed MrCanuck’s grows and videos, it was the simplest to follow. I really blasted em with lites and nutes this grow, my hope a few xtra weeks in a comfortable lite, with just watering will be fine, at the flip i go to 5gal fabric pots with fresh supersoil, then about 3wks later a top dress of just 284

100%

I just came off of a disasterous month🙄 i had to do a bunch of flushes with plain water, it worked wonders
Too much nutes, too much lite😢

The girls are back, gonna extend the veg now that they are healthy
They certainly look back on track. Good call with your remedies.

Haha that's how I got on the Gaia. His videos make it seem so easy but I found I needed to tweak it a little. I feed every week 1 tbsp/gallon of soil, because I found my plants being a little hungry. I also use EWC every other week and 2-4-1 fish fertilizer in between.

I agree, i watched a lot of videos and his was super easy to duplicate, and i watched a lot of them

Can you explain a little on what you have learned, especially top dressing

Ya no problem.
So this is my 4th grow with Gaia Green. I don't want to tell you to go read through all 4. So here's the foot notes.

Grow one went good. I picked up a CalMag deficiency about 3 weeks into flower. Used 5 gallon SIP and soil. Went by the exact dosing recommendation of Gaia Green and only used 4-4-4, 2-8-4, and EWC. Plants finished at about 4oz per plant. The bud was decent and a successful first run but I wanted to grow buds like I saw Mr Canucks grow haha.

Second grow was an auto grow. Straight Gaia Green dosing recommendations and the plants were going well but about 4weeks in they started having deficiency issues. CalMag/underwater/overwater/hungry lol damn autos. I also started getting a crust on top dosing 2tbsp/gallon every other week. The soil also wasn't very fluffy more compact even with the perlite. Plants limped in and even though they looked ok they were underwhelming in production and quality.

Third grow was a doozy but its when things started clicking for me. First I picked up a watering issue which starved the plant. Also picked up some pink leaves lol. Thankfully Gee gave me some advice and some science lessons which helped me understand the importance of calcium in living soil and how not having enough of it may have been keeping the plants from accessing the nutrients. He also suggested I start feeding weekly because he had been having success with it and it could also help keep the crust down lol. Also I started using Neptune's Harvest fish fertilizer 2-4-1 to feed the microbes and keep the soil happy. I began checking the Brix of the plant at this point, this is not necessary but it's worked for me. These plants recovered and gave me my best oz/gallon harvest and some of the highest quality bud I had grown.

Fourth and current grow. This has been my easiest and most successful grow to this point. I have picked up Gaia Green Mineralized Phosphate 0-9-0 to help supplement flower, along with Dolomite water concentrate for CalMag. My feeding schedule is consistent and I have had good success so far. By top dressing weekly there's seems to always be food available to the plant and keeps the microbes working haha. I've also been tilling up the top inch every water no matter if I'm top dressing or not to help get the nutes down to the roots. It seemed that almost immediately during stretch they were throwing out trichomes, and just ready to roll. They have been thriving and appears to be on track to be my best harvest yet. Also little to no crust on top of the soil which is nice.

My current feeding schedule is for 5 gallon pots in flower.
5 tbsp of 2-8-4 Power Bloom, Weekly
2 Cups of EWC, Weekly
5 mL of Neptune's Harvest, bi weekly
40-45 ppm of Dolomite concentrate, every other watering
4 Tbsp of 0-9-0 Mineralized Phosphate, every 3 weeks about 2 times a grow
1/4 teaspoon of Raw Silica 1 week pre flip and every 2 weeks after that because they were a little scraggly under the scrog net 😆.

So I've been thinking of going even higher on my top dressing amounts. Gee's topdressing more than the Gaia recommended amounts and his buds are pretty awesome lol.

Man, nutes scare me now Lol, i almost always go over board. EWC=earth worm castings ??
I’ll be happy if i can just duplicate this again

Haha ahh I'm usually under doing it. But ya Earth worm castings.

That's a heck of a plant! You did it once so you'll be able to do it again no problem. Just gotta work out the kinks and get the consistency going and that's how all your grows will look. You'll end up like Gee trying to create problems to fix them lol.

Thank you for your summary, i need to be more consistent in my grows, i “thought” i was, but i change things and dont document the changes 🙄

You just have to find what works for you and it takes a little trial and error. I'm also finding that every strain is a little bit different. There's a ton of helpful info and techniques on this site and journaling helps keep track of what works for ya. Your plants look good now so I think your on the right track to repeat your results.

So, my grows would go like this…
They would hit flower around week 8-9, At that time i would up pot to 5gal fabric pots from 2.5gal. I would do a 50/50 444/284 soil mix with EWC and perlite, and only plain ph’d water until about week 4, then one top dress to take them out of flower…(GaiaGreen suggests)(every 4 weeks)

I think that method was ok, but theres a serious lag at week4… i think as you stated regular feedings so there’s no lag…..

I should be ready to flip the lights in about three weeks, im LST to spread out the thriving canopy 😌 but so far so good, i’ll water just enough to trickle out a bit not the flushing i was doing, and hopefully i can get a nice broad bud loaded canopy for flower.

Week 9:

holding off on flipping the lights to 12/12 until the tops bounce back from LST tie downs, and i will be up potting this week, being careful to mix my soil correctly. I gotta get some 5gal fabric pots and some Coast of Maine Stonington blend….. time to visit my local Hydro store.

they really had a go of it early on… I did my best to kill em 💀 with bright lites and too much nutes, but as things would have it, lowering the lite volume and flushing, they bounced back, theres a bunch of bud sites, my hope is with a good “stretch” i can single out the hopefuls and trim away all the garbage lower canopy fluff. Time to fire up all the fans too😌
