The Quadsquad Thread: A Community For Quadlining

So I finally switched these to flower, failed pretty badly at quadlining, this is only my second grow I’ve got to this stage. I probably should’ve topped more as they were growing but I didn’t.

any tips on how to ensure this becomes a high yield now with some sort of training or should I have done all this sooner? I know they’re going to double in height and may become a bit difficult to maintain in 4 weeks or so.

My first attempt at a quad went a bit sideways indoors, so I put her in the garden and she blew up!! You can’t really tell from the pic, but this girl started out with four main tops, then doubled, then doubled and so on until I had around 70 tops on a 9.5 foot tree and got 2.9lbs of fruity bud. The quad approach gave me a super strong base that I am sure helped to get this girl into the monster category. Strain is skittles, seeds from I49.
Hey Rugsy, It's alway good to see a plant that has turned into a triffid monster. Awesome yield you got from her!

When you say she 'doubled and then doubled and so on', do you mean you topped her more times, or was there just an initial topping and the plant grew from that?

Lovely looking result!

Thanks Stunger. By doubled I mean I topped her. I know from past experience that you want to keep the middle of a big outdoor plant thinned out, so I topped it roughly every foot it grew and trimmed each branch below the two tops. I did this until it got to be about 5 feet tall and then let it go and trained it to get an even canopy. I had roughly 16 main branches with a about 4 or so tops on each. Made for a lot less trimming as I didn’t have many small larfy buds to deal with. Here is a pic of the canopy, it’s not great but gives you a better look. And one of the colas all trimmed up. They were all very uniform in size in the end and looked pretty killer hanging in my drying room.

done a bit of maintenance and defoliated these a bit and forgot I damaged the one and cable tied it. This plant is noticeably smaller than the other one so I thought the cable ties may have been strangling the plant a bit and I removed them. This resulted in the plant pulling apart slightly like it was before i cable tied. Should I leave as is or attach a cable tie again but not as tight?

I broke one like that & took my hands off right then & didn’t touch it for about 10 days. She healed up & is growing like she’s on steroids. This happened about 5 weeks ago - here she is this morning...

I will leave as is. I wasn’t sure if the cable ties I put on were strangling it and stopping it from taking enough feed in as opposed to the other plant. Will see how it goes over next day or two.

I have not used cable ties but from what I've seen of others they seem to work great. When it happened to me last grow I would have used them if I had them but instead I used electrical tape which didn't draw the 2 sides together so well but I imagine the plant would have been fine regardless.
