:laughtwo: I have that infectious nature Ketama. It'd make you smile to realize the number of members I've enticed to start a journal. We all need to share this passion. What better way than on our safe digital streets.

I'm honored to have found your garden represented in my journal. Wasn't that the most fun? Quite an impressive brood you have. It's so hard to only grow one or two, isn't it? Lol! Feel free to share this passion with us anytime.

:Namaste:

Thank you sweet Sue the name fits perfectlyby the way:circle-of-love:

:laughtwo: Thank you Ketama. I hear that a lot about my username. When I came here and was signing up I was getting ready to use the name I've used on other sites around the inter webs when I had the strongest inclination to go with Sweetsue. When I won my first MOTM Rob changed it to SweetSue, which suits me well. I believe the cosmos led me here and gave me that name. This is where I was meant to be. I think it's been a happy fit, for the most part. That relentless cheerfulness can be as off-putting in the virtual world as it can be in my physical world.

:laughtwo: Take a slow deep breath. They're only doing their best to protect us. Hug? :hugs::hugs::hugs:

Mmmmmm....... Hash. I still salivate a little every time I see the word. Lol! May your harvest be not only bounteous but potent as hell. When you figure out how I can raise diamond-coated nuggets let me in on that one. :kisstwo:

........ I forgot..... Great shot of the fields of green glory. Thanks for that special treat. :green_heart:

Good morning Sue. If you don't mind, I have a couple pics to post. I have 2 Train wrecks going. One in flower, and a clone in veg. They are in Hi-Brix soil and seem to both be showing a deficiency. They get cal/mag. I am thinking maybe iron. What are your thoughts?:circle-of-love::peace:

That's certainly what it appears to be supergroomer, but this soil shouldn't be giving us this problem, or so I've been led to believe. Post this in Doc's thread and see what Cannatard says about it. He and Major will likely be the first to spot it and this is the kind of thing they're hoping to help with. Please, let me know what you find out. I'm also having a strange expression with my Carnival that we're confused by.

Daily Update: Carnival #2, Day 99 (Flip + 19)

The leaf expression is getting worse, not better, IMHO. She's still not dry on the bottom, and I believe that may be part of the problem, so I'm letting her go another day before drenching. The clones'll need a drench by then too, so tomorrow it is. I'll check on her about 4 PM, before I go walking to be sure I'm not pushing her too far.

Looking at her objectively from a distance I feel she'll be ok until tomorrow.

IMG_085337.JPG

All ready for your inspection Duggan. I wish those leaves would straighten out already. Remind me over and over again that we grow them for the trichomes, not for the fan leaves. She's got enough solar panels in there to carry her, I'm certain of it.

PH Correction

One of the things I've learned with the hempy experience is to PH correct my water. I've gotten to be rather good at it and it occurred to me that I've never demonstrated my technique for doing so. No time like the present. :battingeyelashes:

I'm still new to this, but this suggests that I should have taken Hab's advice and cut the concentration of the nutrients during this getting acquainted stage.

IMG_083735.JPG

Yeah, not proud of this, but I'll learn from it and hopefully not repeat it. I'll mix up a batch that's 4ml Micro and 8ml Bloom for the early stage and gradually bump it up every second watering. First I flushed her real good with PH-corrected water.

IMG_08381.PNG

For water only I PH to 5.5-5.6. This was Tead's recommendation before I started using the Lucas Formula, and I think it's probably smart to keep doing this.

IMG_083934.JPG

So how do I go about this? I start by gathering the equipment and supplies. I have my bottle of PH Down. My water trends to the high side rather than low. I've never had to PH Up. The syringe is one CC. The shot glasses are for holding the RO water for resting between measurements (you don't want the meter sitting out exposed at all, as in ever) and for holding the solution being tested. I always start with a CC of PH down added to the gallon of water and then add 2-3 marks at a time (I'm pretty loose about it) until I get it right.

image37815.jpg

I start with my initial measurement, after adding one syringe of PH down. If the reading is too high (I'm shooting for around 5.8 with the Lucas Formula so this is too high) I empty the shot glass back into the bottle and add a couple more marks of PH Down, shake it up and try again. Lather, rinse, repeat until it's just right. :battingeyelashes:

Actually, this is the batch I mixed up the other day at full-strength. I see the PH has crept up. I'll remember to check PH before each feeding.

IMG_084035.JPG

In between I always rinse and dry the shot glass. This may be anal and unnecessary, but my brain insists I do it, so I don't fight the urge. :laughtwo:

IMG_084138.JPG

There ya go. :blunt:

IMG_084335.JPG

She's been apologized to and loved over, flushed and had new nutrients applied, at half-strength concentration. I promised her I'd be more careful of her current delicate nature. We can learn to do this dance, she and I, without the need to damage her any further.

image37816.jpg

I can't hold Hab responsible for this. He cautioned me about the seedlings and cuttings. I disregarded that advice, so he doesn't need to get those seeds to me. Dammit! Now I'll have to buy them!

Clone Care: leveling the canopy

While I was under there I decided to get that training out of the way, get this canopy back under control.

IMG_085746.JPG

IMG_085839.JPG

IMG_086043.JPG

Lets's start with #1. At this point there's only one restraint, holding the apical tip down. Others are competing for apical dominance. This could easily get out of hand.

IMG_086238.JPG

IMG_086346.JPG

Much better. This one, and #2 are so massive I may decide to put them int 2-3 gallons of soil instead of keeping them confined to the one-gallon pots. These aren't your everyday clones, are they?

IMG_086434.JPG

Some nice prospects for tops going there. :slide: Yep, give these two more root space and reap bigger rewards.

IMG_086539.JPG

This is the largest of the clones planted in the LOS pots. I decided to try my Comfrey fertilizer on them with their next drench. That should give them a shot of N. It sure looks like they could use it, but the growth I'm seeing regardless surprised me this morning. I'll have to pull her over too.

IMG_086640.JPG

IMG_086734.JPG

I dropped Emerald down so she's more oriented beneath the light. She was feeling a bit stressed while she heals from the nute burn. Doesn't she look happier already? When she gets stronger and she's back up to full-strength I'll surround her with light until the end. :cheesygrinsmiley:

IMG_087036.JPG

Makes me smile to look in here. This was wasted space just a week or so ago. :blunt:

Gonna go hide, bad Hab... Spank me?

Good afternoon sweets. I'm getting bored at home with no plants to take care of besides house plants. Now I kinda wish I had something going. This way I know I will be super excited for my next grow since I have to wait so long. At least I have some primo weed that was suggested by the great SweetSue, almost a pound of it... wish you were closer so I could share some with you.
Missing you

Daily Update: Autos, Wednesday, November 2, 2016

Let's tidy up the job with a look at the autos. Not a whole lot going on in here at the moment. On Sunday the two chosen Carnival clones will join them. If that damaged Industrial Plant doesn't germinate by then I'll start a new one, which will put it on schedule for the perpetual anyway. I'm trying to get this tent going with one planted about every two weeks, and I seem to prefer planting on Sunday. I'll be ordering 5-gallon Geo Pots for this tent. I'm of the opinion, at long last, that five gallons is sufficient for autos.

As I typed that I realized that I have five gallon buckets I could use that would give me more depth, although I sacrifice the breathability of the fabric pots and the ease of the Velcro tiedowns. Hmmmm......... I'll think on that more. I'm leaning towards the fabric pots and shipping cost be damned. The rainforest doesn't carry 5-gal Geos so I'll need to get them from my favorite soil building site instead.

I meandered off the path there, didn't I? :laughtwo: On to the nickel tour. :battingeyelashes:

Train Wreck (Day 12) Can you feel the energy of a child getting ready to take off? Yep, so do I. Lol!

IMG_087446.JPG

This is arteekay's last post of their latest Train Wreck, at Day 60. This is what I'm chasing. Imagine my frustration. Lol!

Now imagine my pride in the excellent work my friends are pulling off in their garden. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

On to the tiny closet and its not-so-tiny occupant.

Dark Devil Auto (Day 71)

IMG_087636.JPG

I'm gonna try to push her to Day 90, so we're looking at potentially 19 more days of this. Hehe! At the very least I should be able to keep the top colas going for two more weeks. I can harvest buds in the lower reaches as they ripen.

What sheen these leaves have. I seem to recall Doc saying once that a sign of HB was that the petioles on the top of a plant that genetically expressed as red would begin to turn green underneath. Anyone else recall that? This plant expresses like that, but then, how do you look at this plant and not assume it's HB?

Pretty damned breathtaking, if you ask me. Wow!

That's it for today folks. This is my walking day and I need to get some food into me. It's surprising how much time you can pass gazing at the plants and their pictures. :laughtwo:

My thanks for your visit. Continue on the joyful journey that is your day. :hugs:

:Namaste:

Yes on the hempy miss sue and a clone you wanna start really low even third or quarter strength especially with cfls they don't need much but all n all great looking garden.

Ok, I was wondering about the leaf twist. I'll make some adjustments to handling (we'll talk later, I have walking group coming up) and you can explain some things to me, if that's ok with you Hab.

We'll discuss all those relevant matters then. :battingeyelashes:

There you are Noob.

:hugs::hugs::hugs:

I was wondering how long it would take you to begin to miss the fussing with the garden. You're waiting until after? Whew, a stronger man than I. I nearly went nuts after seven weeks. :laughtwo:

I just knew you'd be a good match for Carnival. So thrilled for you, and you got

jars and jars and jars of it!
