The Perpetual Healing Garden - SweetSue's Joyful Return

:hugs:  :hugs:

Looking good Sue, glad to see things are going swimmingly for you since I last visited.

Thank you BrixNewb. Good to see you again. They're behaving nicely for me. That CBD Critical Mass is a bit too drought-resistant for my drench schedule, but I need to adapt to the plant, not make the plant adapt to me.

Once you top a plant, it's no longer lanky, is it? You can train the branches as low as you desire.

It's the spacing of upper nodes that matters to me.

You gave me a rush of relief reading that Rad. I'm not used to such lanky seedlings and those slender stalks look so delicate at this stage. I need to remember that it'll fill out. I'm used to my first branchings being right at the soil level. You see that on the bigger Dark Devil. This is new for me, and I'm not entirely comfortable with it.

And yes, it's the spacing of the upper nodes I should concern myself with. I also have the option to pull her over and start training her.

Good Morning!!
I'm happy we could keep the laughs going! We have these beautiful green feral parrots where I live and they sound so nice. There is a couple that live in the trees behind our apartment and everyone morning my daughter and I look out and watch them along with the red squirrels. I mean if we love the sounds so much who says our plants wouldn't :)
I long for the day when I can grow my plants in the fresh natural air. Sometimes it hurts me that such a beautiful plant has to be kept inside away from all who would adore her. One day, one day...

Now that you are a ways in on the CBD grows and I see the CC isn't much of a water drinker do you see any other big differences? I had read that growing high CBD strains is like a whole new ball field. I have a few CBD strains I will grow in the fall and winter and just looking to build my knowledge base before hand.
Also so happy to see your DD doing as well as she is! The best part is how awesome your lights make all the girls look! I am really excited to hear your reviews on the plants now that you have changed up the lighting. I've been thinking of up grading, not that I need to just you know there is always that voice in the back of your head saying "you know you want it" Have a great Friday Sue!

Hahaha! You started my day with another laugh. :laughtwo: The call of the cannabis cultivator, "MORE LIGHT! BIGGER LIGHT! BETTER LIGHT!"

I don't think it ever stops. I have three of the best panels I could have chosen and I still stand and think "One more 350 watt or better and I'm set." :laughtwo: Geez, I have two panels in storage. Lol!

Drenching: My process

The CBD Critical Mass is a tricky one. Maybe this is characteristic of high CBD strains. Like the lazy gardener that I am, lost in other studies, I haven't researched it. I'm just trying to listen to this particular plant and respond appropriately.

With this girl that's meant watching for subtle signs that she was thirsty, but not really showing it. I've learned that she has an almost imperceptible droop to her tips and a crinkle to the leaves. Today's her day for the next Growth Energy Drench. This means she's about 10 days out from her flip. :slide:

image10805.jpeg

I started by filling the gaps in her pot, the same way I did with the CBD Critical Cure during her last drench.

image10789.jpeg

image10790.jpeg

Picked off all the fading leaves, chuckling about SlowToke's query about why his plants had yellowing leaves but no one else's did. Graytail gently informed him that this is because most of us clip the unsightly ones off before we photograph. :laughtwo: I've been guilty of overlooking grooming for the post.

Time to mix the drench. With the added soil I'm really closer to the 10 gallon mark in this pot, so let's be conservative and go with 7 ml of GE and 0.7 ml of Tea.

I find these two measuring devices indispensable. The oral dosing tool works marvelously for drenches, measuring up to 10 ml. The syringe gives me control of the much smaller Tea measurement.
image10792.jpeg

I keep syringes beside each bottle, to avoid pollution. I sometimes work in small azalea pots and those syringes did the job for all of that growing size.

image10793.jpeg

Mix the measured additives into two gallons of good water and drop the pot in there to start soaking up from below.

image10794.jpeg

image10795.jpeg

All the while I scoop and pour over the surface until there's nothing left to scoop. Yes, I know, micro management to the extreme, but when you get this close to your plant and work as slowly as I do, you can hear the water percolating through the matrix. After a while you begin to recognize the sound of saturation, so you know to work around that spot and pull the moisture out into more soil. By the time I'm done I'm fairly certain it's fully hydrated.

image10796.jpeg

She took a full two gallons of water. Good girl. :battingeyelashes:  This is her at the beginning. Looking a little ragged.

image10797.jpeg

Off to the side sits another tote with a riser inside for draining.

image10798.jpeg

Here she is immediately after I finished the drench and moved her to drain.

image10799.jpeg

What a difference 30 minutes can make, eh?

image10800.jpeg

What was left in the drench tote. I poured this over the surface. Leave no goodness behind.

image10801.jpeg

What drained. I'll save it and add it to the plant later today. Use it all.

image10802.jpeg

Back in her spot under the indoor sun. She was much happier with a drink.

image10803.jpeg

The babies said "Hello".

image10804.jpeg

Time to load the shots in for the update. Be back soon. :ciao:

Did you ever watch that documentary "Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill" ? Not saying you live in San Francisco - especially if you have red squirrels :)

I loved that documentary Rad. Saw it years ago.

Good job Sue...... , and speaking of jobs i just landed one on tuesday so im flat out working in a busy little bistro so can only catch up if im lucky xx
Take care one and all and happy gardening :)

What wonderful news Professor! :hugs: :circle-of-love: You'll find balance in your life again.

Had to share guys, I'm making oil and I'm at the wash stage. You drain the washes through coffee filters. Those filters get tossed. Except they're loaded with Everclear 151 and cannabinoids. I can't waste that.

image10806.jpeg

I decided to stick them in a plastic bag and suck the juices out of them. :laughtwo: Already that's turned out to be a good idea.

I'm grinding my teeth and I don't have teeth. :laughtwo:

Alright, let me get this update posted so I can get the next installment of making CCO done for the study hall.

Daily Update, Friday, April 22, 2016

Not sure how I feel about that, but it will make it easier to track using the dates. I think it'll. I'll try it for a while.

The Dark Devil Auto and The Auto Jack Herer got their torturous essential oil foliar and the CBD Critical Mass got her Growth Energy drench and more soil tamped into her pot.

The HB Kit reserve soil had more water added, probably about a half gallon. I haven't checked the LOS reserves. :hmmmm: Should probably do that.

Let's take a peek in the tents, shall we? Starting off with the veg tent. They're both at Day 72. The CBD Critical Mass was covered in the earlier drench post. The Auto Jack Herer just keeps bulking up, slowly but surely. I've been leaving her pretty much alone.

image10803.jpeg

The babies. Strawberry Blue is 10 days, Bubba Kush is 9 and Carnival is at day 5.

image10804.jpeg

This was my subtle indicator that it was time to drench her.

image10805.jpeg

A sweet shot of the stand of colas on the Auto Jack Herer.

image10808.jpeg

The babies wanted in again. :laughtwo:

The Flowering tent. The CBD Critical Cure is at Day 72. Nothing much going on yet.

image10811.jpeg

No new arrivals.

image10812.jpeg

She's just getting ready to bloom.

The up and coming DDA2, now all of 10 days old.

image10823.jpeg

That's it for the girls today. They keep to themselves most of the time. I got my electric bill and you can certainly tell I'm up and running again. :laughtwo: They should look at us as potential consumers, because we do that so well. Legalize and watch us indulge in our gardening fantasies. Lol!

I hope you've been taking every opportunity to spread more joy. Good. We've trained each other well then. :battingeyelashes:

I'm off to the study hall. I'll be seeing you around the yards.

:Namaste:

:hmmm: Nice marketing idea for the electric utilities ... promote home grows. They could do an online starter guide, maybe affiliate with an LED maker to offer packages ...

:blunt:

Nice setup, that DD looks great, I thought I was subbed here, nope. Well I fixed that tonight.

Cheers

Wow! Went to bed early last night, around 1 instead of 4, and I'm up before lights on. I had to refrain from just unzipping and peeking in. :laughtwo:

See? Look at the potential. LOL!

Hows ya doing Sweetness :circle-of-love:

I'm doing quite well these days Jaga. I discovered the wonder of mindful breathing in the last month and gained emotional control for the first time in my life.

How're things in your slice of Paradise Jaga?

Nice setup, that DD looks great, I thought I was subbed here, nope. Well I fixed that tonight.

Cheers

:welcome: millertm. The joyful journal just became a bit more joyful with your inclusion. Make yourself comfortable and join in anytime. :battingeyelashes:

Good morning everyone.

It's a good morning when I get to make brownies. :battingeyelashes: Let me get to it.

image10863.jpeg

Let me tear myself away from my exploration of the medicinal and nutritional benefits of acid cannabinoids through juicing the whole plant and get this update posted. I still have Callanetics scheduled, and now I have something interesting to meditate on as I pulse. It's hard to deny the value of raw cannabis as a way to prevent disease, much less its ability to relieve inflammation and apparently treat cancer.

Here's a thought for you: THCA may turn out to fight cancer as effectively as THC. The THCA values of the plant peak about halfway through flowering. If, in fact, the theory about the effectiveness of THCA turns out to be true you only need to get halfway through a flowering cycle to harvest your most effective medication. If you're running big autos and maxing out growth potential and resin production from the beginning you may be able to satisfy the need with a home system. The breeders have also begun producing high CBD strains, which changes the whole picture. Ingesting raw retains the full range of flavinoids and terpenoids as well as the entire range of acid cannabinoids, the synergistic interactions of which dramatically change the efficacy of the dose. It all got more complicated even as it begins to make more sense.

Welcome me to my world. :laughtwo:

This opens up a whole new area of interest for me. Cannabis cultivation on this level almost requires the ability to grow outdoors. You'd never be able to get enough plant material in a closet or a small tent. But think of the possibilities. :hmmm:

Ok, on with the update.

Daily Update: Saturday, April 23, 2016

I decided it made more sense to check the meter coming into the tent than going out. Such a blonde. :laughtwo:

Into the veg tent.

image10864.jpeg

Theyre both at 73 days now. All systems go.

image10865.jpeg

The seedlings. We're at days 11, 10 and 6 with this brood.

image10866.jpeg

The CBD Critical Mass is ready to start flowering. Just one more drench and she's flipped, so it's just a waiting game now.

image10867.jpeg

She's a nice canopy developing. I only bent over one top this visit.

image10868.jpeg

Into the flowering tent.

image10870.jpeg

No real changes here either. Still waiting on any sprouts or blossoms.

image10871.jpeg

Dark Devil Auto (Day 71) I'll be quiet now and let you enjoy.

She is pretty breathtaking. Quite a shock to see her every morning. I like the way her leaves turn colors before she finishes. Kind of a beautiful early warning system. I'm thinking two weeks, minimum, from this point. Let's see how close I come.

I hope you're finding this spring morning to your liking. It should make it easy for you to express more joy. Thanks for stopping and have a wonderful day. I'm gonna treat myself to another brownie, do some Callanetics and think some more about acid cannabinoids. :cheesygrinsmiley:

:Namaste.
