The Mountain: Grow Support From The Over 50 Club

How's everybody on The Mountain this morning? It's a gorgeous morning here in the Mountain West. It was 42F at dawn. The sky is an intense, vibrant blue. My cat is going crazy with joy, tearing around the house and yard, climbing up and down the fruit trees. I'm kicking myself for not growing at least a plant or two this season. I hope you all have a great day.

Hello gang,
I'm a fellow old fart at 59+. I live on the side of a mountain in a state they call "The Last Best Place" It's about an hour drive to town from here so I'm a bit rural. I grow my own weed and keep myself supplied. We are medical here and hope for full legalization in my lifetime.
Anyway, I've been a member for a long time but have been away from here for a few years. I breed my own strains and make my own feminized seeds. I also trade seeds with other growers but seldom buy from seed banks anymore. I'm currently growing a few of my own strains and a couple of other non commercial strains. The only commercially known strain I'm currently growing is a Dr. Who. I had a visitor from Nor Cal this summer and he brought me a bunch of seeds from out there. This grow will be finished in about 4-6 weeks so I started some new seeds and put them in 20 oz nursery pots. Currently above ground in seedling are 4 mendo purps, 4 Purple Pain Kller, 1 Colombian Gold and 4 Iranian G13. The Iranian didn't germ in the 1st batch so I cracked 4 more beans and they went into soil this morning. I haven't decided if I want to journal or not with this grow.
So anyway, this seems like a pretty nice place to hang out so I guess I'll be around awhile.

I have rationed fan leaves for extended periods of time myself. Cards are still somewhat rare here. And, personal grow cards are downright valuable just for the cost savings if you need a lot of meds.

From your posts, you live in Ut. or Idaho. My guess is Ut., in the foot hills east of I15 unless you consider southern Ut. North. Parts of it can get insanely cold though. I am not asking for a disclosure, it's just a guess.

I never know

Well I can see I 15 from my deck. But, I'm a bit north of UT. I'm only about 2 hrs from Glacier Park and the Canadian border

welcome Liama we all just want info on how our grows are working with the weather and what ever we are doing to make then better enjoy the info

Welcome, love to hear your stories, and listen to your knowledge. Thanks for posting,, now give us more.. That was a tease ;)

Lama,
I was jumping between boards and thought Spark had responded on another board. There are others there scratching their heads over this.

"Well I got some of it correct. After I posted that I kind of thought it sounded a little like invading someone's privacy. I lived in Cedar City for a few lifetimes."

You have been around longer than I have. For what it's worth, welcome.

Best

Thanks you for the welcome, gang. It's gonna take a bit for me to get to know everybody

I'm just an old pothead who started (re-started) smoking pot about 10 years ago. I'm retired from the Army and have a seasonal recreation business which my wife an I have run for 21 years. I'm one of those people that kind of go overboard when I become passionate about something. I was doing fine in a 4x4 grow tent in my downstairs bedroom but wanted to do more so I built a pretty nice grow room in my garage. Here's a few pic's of what's going on in 'Llamaland'

I have 14 plants of various lineage growing now. Plus 14 seedlings with Mendo Purps, PPK Iranian G-13 and Colombian Gold Most are my own strains, but I also have stuff growing that I traded seeds for.

I also have two nice orange trees that I started from seed.

I'll post some pictures of my neighborhood later

Hey man! Welcome to this great thread :tokin:

Would you post a closeup of your Colombian Gold? I'm really stoked to see it :tokin:

I will when it's more than 1 /2 inch tall. Right now it looks just like a seedling.

In the photo of the main growroom. The plant in the black pot on the right, next to the wall and the plant in the 5 gallon bucket is a Colombian Gold X Malawi Gold.(I named it Fools Gold)

The big plant on the left is a Malawi Gold X Y Griega (I named it Griego del Oro) It's mother(Y Griega) is a cross of Amnesia and Kali Mist. The mother was 8' tall indoors when I harvested her. This one has been going under 12/12 May and is looking like she'll finally go into flower. I think this one is going to be a true 6 month strain, maybe even longer...sheesh it better be good!

LOL, I do the same thing, forgetting whether I'm on The Mountain or the Over 50 Club.
BTW, what sins had you committed that you had to live in Cedar City? That's one skanky town.

Hey Llama! Glad to have you perched up here with the rest of us. We are burning up in Appalachia right now but we hit Autumn at the end of the week. Heat stress continues apace and so far I am surprised at the pistil growth that I am still seeing but again it's because the plants are trying their darnedest to get pollenated.
Outdoor growers in the Midwest through the Mid south Corn fields are rapidly browning down. I have seen airplane surveilance in the last week. I think that LE has gone more to flying grids with planes first and then once the corn turns and leaves drop they come back to hot spot with the helicopters and give things a closer look. Great time for a late flower kick in the pants this week especially if you can get it down right before the rains. Keep an eye open for those pesky little bud worms. Now is their time. Also keep an eye open for Downey and powdery mildews they have both putting a lot of pressure on the plants this season due to high humidity levels. Best of luck in all you grow!

Thanks. I put a lot of work and $$ into that room! Now everybody wants me to go vertical and hydro!
The garage is unfinished as I built it in 2011. Then of course the cars went in, then the junk so I never did finish the interior. I added the grow room in '12 because I knew It will be a while(never) before I sheetrock the garage itself. Anyway with the two turbo fans I draw enough fresh(cool) air through the passive ducts to keep the lights cool. I also have a brand new in the box window A/c to add if needed. (I could run the lights in the day during the summer then).
Forgive my ramblings but a couple bowls of a kick ass sativa and I get chatty as hell. Truthfully I built the room so I could have a place to hide from my lovely wife, smoke n peace and play with my plants. I have a stereo, bong, boos and magazines. I'd put a tv in there but since we are on satellite it's a pain to add another tv

LLAMA, I Have done much the same. Mine is not as tall and probably smaller. It is sure not that clean.

No cars in the garage part. Though there is rather nice shop under a lot of well junk really.

I wind up with something like this.

I am interested how many you are flowering at a time and what you are doing with your larger ones that are still in vege.

Ok, I just saw your third and forth light. It is a lot larger. Best.

Speaking of bud worms, first ones of the season.

Inspect all your plants, every bud! Look out for browning pistils.

Spark, "Skanky" Picture it 40 years ago with a population of 6 or 7 thousand and you have kids starting grade school. Those were interesting times.

I worked construction and maintenance for Ma Bell. You sound like you would take this as true. One guy one the crew had 4 wives.

Best

That does sound interesting. I'd take the polygs and their kids over what it's like today. Lately Cedar City is in competition with Vernal as the meth. lab capital of the West. I won't even get off the freeway there.

BTW, I worked in telecomm. for many years, as a contractor. I can still cut down a 25-pair in my sleep.
