The Mega Crop Thread

I still just don't understand the appeal of the tent, lol... :thumb:

I do understand the appeal as Old Salt so ably detailed but I fear all the equipment people are buying to grow may deter new growers or convince people they need much more than they do.

I grow in my basement and by keeping the environment to my liking it is happily good for my plants too and sure if I strictly controlled the environment I could likely get more yield but since I am growing several-fold more than I need I see no point in such a big expenditure. Also, the smell doesn't bother me at all and isn't that bad outside the basement. People who visit say upstairs say they can't smell it.

But the biggest reasons besides what I see as a lot of extra unnecessary cost is that I could not imagine the hassle they are with cleaning them and especially trying to water and trim and such in such a small confined space. When I do anything like that I can just move my reflectors and I have tons of space and have total access. To each their own!! :high-five:
I have been an avid tent user for stealth here in the uk. Our homes tend to be crammed in together with no safe outside buildings .To create rooms of every size and description, using tents means we can grow in any available space and still have a controllable environment without kicking children out and procuring their bedrooms.lol
For stealth reasons soon turns to environment though so we need the air circulation which is where the cost and stuff can be offset with d.i.y depending on size of the tented area. Tents have a lot of thought in them now and create excellent reflective surfaces with custom built sealable air inlets ect.... Once that zip is done up , my grow becomes fully stealthy for smell and often sound dampening too. My tent cost me £99 5 years ago and has been up and down more times than a festival campers yet still serves me to this day. I have now lined my attic better with insulation and the tent has been cut up to provide panels, zips ect forna more permanent build with space. Aside from this , they are so bloody useful mate. We dont get cellars in home here and out attics are just to support roof trusses , never for us to use effectively. just saying matey.

looks like these are finishing earlier than i anticipated..

sitting right on top of the finish....

amber started in on the upper buds. debating if i should chop now or let it run another week.

black indica is the furthest along..

i should probably just take it down no matter what i decide. i had husks in the last run on this and letting them go is probably not such a great idea. certain the light pushed this hard. one run was near 120 days flower on the old light. i'm end of wk 7 / beginning wk 8 and still shy of 60 days on the new one.

hoping i didn't overcook everything lol.

the cbdream are right behind the black indica. probably within the week.

they are enjoying a little late build. check out the new pistils on top.
got three of these and i'm real happy for the meds. my folks are chewing through both the topicals and canna pills faster than i can grow lol.

the master kush has zero amber. its loaded up with cloudy trichomes. don't think this one is gonna amber up.

the fans have completely served their use now lol.

look through the loupe on the master kush

might have to chop this wkend. i'm on shifts and it's tough to get the timing to match up.

everythings been on MC from flip.
very nice result.

The temperature in my basement drops below 10°C / 50°C in winter, so that's out as a growing area. My grows, at least in winter, must be in our living space.

My preferred footprint for my tents is 60 X 120cm or 2' X 4' for precisely the reason you stated. I don't have to move the plants, and I can clean and trim them from outside the tent, This is also the reason I question new growers when they want to put a SCRoG in a larger tent. The one plant I have in the Mars Hydro 3' X 3' tent will be put on a Lazy Susan before it is flipped.

The biggest mistake I see new growers make in choosing a tent is their height. Growers lose 2-1/2' or 75cm to the light and their containers, unless they also have a filter above the light. Then it is worse. They lose 3-1/2' or 105cm. Those short tents are only good for mothers and plants from seedling to veg, or a SCRoG. Six feet or 180cm is the minimum height I'd recommend, but I strongly suggest the tallest tent they can get in the room.
Unless grown in a quadline or manifold , lst ect.... I have max 6.5ft apex roof that plants to around 3ft fairly rapidly. by using the right methods and choosing the right strains , height isnt a problem as such for me. 1.2m colas will be my height goal max so I need to get more of them !. quadsquad thread is a good place to see perfect way to work with restricted height.

As I said to each his own; all good matey. :hugs: Here is my simple flowering setup and behind it is my vegging room. I am fortunate we do have basements here.

Quadlining and NugBucket's Mainline/Manifold method both work well in height restricted spaces. I had colas growing through my DIY COB array, with a couple of the branches reaching 1.6m, or 5' 4" for our SI challenged friends.

Wait..how is that not a tent or even tent like?

Exactly.as I mean too mate. the boxes you have would give us away instantly. any light leaks , sounds, smells ect and it's all over.lol

It's legal for Homer as we're in Canada. It works for him which is all that really counts.

What works for one of us, doesn't work for all, and may even see us spend time in the crowbar hotel at our government's expense.

Loving my switch over to my Mega Crop from the Advance Nutrients I was using. My girls are getting so fat and smelling amazing since my switch over. I’ll post a picture of my tent from Saturday, the day before I started using MC and a pic from today after just 2 feeding of MC to my plants.

You know that's basically a tent Homer!

Would a tent by any other name grow as well? I concede my reflectors do reflect light like the walls of a tent but that is where the similarities end. My reflectors have no ceiling or floor and are self-supporting so they can be moved in about five seconds to totally expose my plants for whatever work I have to do. If someone can show me a tent that can be disassembled in five seconds to completely expose their plants to work on I will agree this is a tent.

I didn't mean to dissuade others from getting a tent because I understand the advantages and see why some prefer or even need them but I was just pointing out that I am afraid that so many people use them that newbies are under the impression they have to buy a lot more equipment than is really necessary to grow. If you have a tent and love it more power to you but for me, I don't need or want one.

in under 24 hours! That's the power of 420magazine.

Nice cherry-picking, lol. To acknowledge the advantages of a tent doesn't mean I find it appealing. I see you failed to quote the disadvantages I mentioned. Very similar approach I see in the hearings today, lol... :p

Well, while we're all spattering around...

I got a lab puppy. She can take any tent down in 3.2 seconds.:rofl::laugh::rofl::laugh:

I upped my dosage to 6.5gm/gal. I didn't notice any deficiencies, but just did it.

My plants are drinking about 1-1/2 times as much as they did with the General Hydroponics Flora Trio. I hope they don't get drunk, but then maybe I do. :hmmmm:

OK, now that's done, how long will it take her to put it up again?:laugh::rofl::laugh::rofl:

Now now... that wasn't part of the deal! :laughtwo:

Or I guess I could say, "Forever, she's a girl." :rofl::rofl::rofl:
