The Mega Crop Thread

I like the simplicity, and low cost of stand alone Mega Crop. The only thing marring that, is that I have to add 1ml CALiMAGic for every 15gms of Mega Crop for a coco/perlite grow under LEDs.

so far i've gotten away from using it in hempy under cob. i've found i can dial the calmag in adjusting by tiny increments around 2/10 of a gram or so. not sure how long this will keep up though. trying to keep it all MC for the grow. at some point the needs of the plant take over.

Cal/mag is the first, and so far the only, deficiency my plants have complained about. Rather than fight it throughout the grow, I calibrated what I needed to the amount of Mega Crop used, and add that to every batch of nutrients. It's working for me so far...

sure it has something to do with the number of those silly calcium balls in the mix considering the tiny amounts measured out each feed.

I mix 18l or about 4-1/2 gallons at a time, so I'm getting a good mix of powder and balls. I'm currently using about 31 grams at a time, so I'm not blaming a lack of balls for the deficiency. It should average out over two to three batches.

The Biscotti are starting to pack on weight. Just fed them today with 5.5g per gallon. I'll up it to 6g next feeding.

My OG Cheese mother plant is ready to come down. She's been flushing on straight water for 5 days.

I'm having a few friends over for a trim party tomorrow night!!! :bong:

Day 57 of 12/12, (actually 11/13 as of this week) dropped the Pink Kush to 6g from 6.5 and the Cheese to 5.5 from 6 couple of days ago.. I reckon the Cheese has a week left to live. Pink Kush is still swelling nicely, maybe 2 weeks for her. They have been on MC since a few days into 12/12.. As soon as I make up my mind on strains I'll be popping seeds for next run which will obviously be MC from the start.

Hey all, I'm about 2-3 weeks in on my grow. Learning a lot with this one. Temp issues are killin me! The germ time was long for all seeds, and they had to be helped out of their shells, most at least. Since then I added heat mats to combat the 65° temps in my grow area. Well....the damn mats are hot! I had 5 folded towels between them and still hitting 90° on the bottom of the pots with the laser temp gauge. So after consulting my cannabis Sherpa Emily, i have turned off my heat mats and going alfresco. I can see the seedlings are behind based on my last grow, but I'm just happy they are growing after the looongg start. So if anyone cares, it looks like too hot is just as harmful as too cold, maybe more so? I'm guessing I was cooking my soil and drying the shit out of it.
So, last night I gave my first full watering with 2grams MC. That followed some Recharge. Today they look ok, and I'm hoping they kick it in the ass since they are autos. If not I'll have some seriously small plants, lol. Which would suck since I've got some great genetics in there. Hopefully the cold will slow their flower , it's been known to happen with autos, fingers crossed.
Excuse the ghetto pots, lol, I was popping seeds like crack when they weren't germn', then they decided to pop and grow. So my 6 plant grow is an 8 plant grow. I'll be transplanting in a couple weeks to 5 gal.

Temperature controllers are available for seedling mats. I generally raise the pots using a piece of egg crate diffuser for florescent lights. I put water in the bottom of the tray, keeping its level below the bottom of the pots. This isolates the seedlings from the higher temperatures the mat will put out.

Those temp controllers are great things! Seedling mats, heaters, all kinds of uses. :D

I use something like this for seedlings:

seedling-setup.jpg

It's a nursery tray, with a raised tray inside. A wicking mat goes over the inner tray and wicks water up to the seedlings as needed. Keeps a consistent moisture without over watering. You don't have to use a seedling tray, either. You can set rapid rooters directly on the mat, or use peat pellets, whatever.

These work, and do the one important thing for a young sprout: keep it from drying out with just the right amount of moisture.

I've scaled down the size of mine, but still use the same setup basically. I bought a different dome that has two tops to it. The main top, and then an extension. The dome also has vents that can be opened.

I still use the inner tray and mat though, and it still works just like it should. :)

Hello, all!

I got some sage advice from Emilya on my grow, but I'm still having issues with what seems to be a mag deficiency. I was watering with 6.5-6.75ph water until hearing from her before my last watering, but the same one of my plants is continuing to go yellow and ugly. I see that there are others experiencing cal/mag issues, and I have wondered what's in those balls, and if I'm getting the right ratio of powder to balls in my water. Overall, I'm having good results from the MC, and my other plant is fine, but I really want to get this yellowing straightened out before I flip to bloom. Here's a few pics, and my grow is in my sig, if you want to stop by for a look. Thanks!

Just up the MC 1/2 gram and see if it fixes the problem.

The issue with that is, this all started right after I gave a feed at 1000ppm, and got some tip burn. I had been doing about 850-875 before that, with no issues. My last feeds were at 875 and 815. Do you think 100-200ppm can go from so little to cause yellow to so much to cause burn?

*Sorry again, to be taking up space on this thread with my issues

I'd try what Em suggested, and add in a little calmag. Watch your ratio on it though, you don't want too much nitrogen to where it whacks out your N->K ratio. For a bottled option, try the Gen Hydro one. It's 1-0-0, and won't disturb much. First try it at half your MC rate. So if you're at 5g/gal, try the calmag at 2.5ml/gal.

Looks like it wants more to me.

Bluter would be upset if you didn’t chime in and me to . Still all I would add is another 1/2 gram gallon, but it’s your choice. Which ever way you go please let us know .:morenutes:
