The Joy Of Growing - SweetSue Goes Perpetual

CULLED!!

image1740.jpeg

Thank you for the reference photos Canna. It was you who taught me that females lay them down sweetly in line with the flow of steam to leaf. Males get all wonky and shoot off to the side. It was immediately obvious, but we were all so caught up in the beauty of these two we kept hoping. Well, I did. :laughtwo:

You taught me well Canna.

:Namaste:

When I finally caught this clear shot I remember thinking "Whuh! Now I can breathe again!" :laughtwo:

Dark Devil Auto (Day 45) Out for a TransWater drench.

Well I was wrong, now I am getting reports the seeds I made are not sprouting mostly! Damn. I touched the shit out of them, so maybe there is something to pigeons theory. Sorry guys.
Perhaps it is better if I just wait until I have room and try them myself instead of wasting your time.
Thanks for trying.

Beautiful!!!
Happy trees. They love you.

Merci, mon ami. I certainly love them. I had my hands on every one today, up close and personal. That leaves me feeling so satisfied. :battingeyelashes:

Was the coffee to your liking, this morning? Mine was just a bit on the strong side. Don't know what got into me. Tomorrow, your treat, ok?

More pretty pictures on the way. :laughtwo:

I didn't consider it a waste of my time at all OG. They were lovely and vibrant specimens. Just unfortunately male. Work on your skills in breeding. It'll come.

Strawberry Blue in the jar.

Not a big yielder at 9 grams, but incredibly fragrant and I'm betting knock-your-socks-off potent. I saved out a couple small pieces to sample tonight after the brownie wears off, which is going to be soon.

When I get back up and running in the new year I want to begin working on training techniques for the tiny pots. See how far I can push yields for the sampler runs.

Let me get this next small post up and then it's time to test her out. :blunt:

Unknown Seed (Day 71)

She was too inticing to stay away from. I wanted to give you a bit of scale for her. I'm thinking she's probably got at least another three weeks to go and her CAT drenches will start next week, so it could get exciting!!!

Soil Building

Time to do something about reclaiming all this used Kit soil.

image34530.jpg

Beautiful SB buds, Sue!

:laughtwo: You didn't have to change it. It's Halloween!! Although, it's nice to see your "normal" face again. I have to laugh right out loud anytime I think of any of us as "normal" LOL!

Abby Normall :high-five:

Beautiful SB buds, Sue!

Thanks Major. I was quite impressed with them myself. That top one, coming in at 4 grams, is a pretty one all on her own. Not tight enough to make anything close to a NOTM. If I ever expect to compete there I'll need better lights and for PeeJay to take a vacation. Hahaha!

Abby Normall :high-five:

 A timely reference. I need to pull that one out for background one of these days. I haven't even turned the TV on for any reason at all since late April. That television could be put to better use in someone else's home. That should probably be the first thing I get rid of.

How about a little adventure in soil reclamation? :battingeyelashes:

The root ball from Thunderpaws #2. I'm feeling confident now about my ability to encourage explosive root development. :cheesygrinsmiley:

image1753.jpeg

The root ball from Thunderpaws #1. Note how much the roots have filled in beyond the small pot the plant stayed in. This technique is very enticing. The plants love the fact that they never get bumped around with transplanting and roots were everywhere. I think this is a technique more of us should be exploring.

image1754.jpeg

image1755.jpeg

I'm winging it here. The soil is an unknown quantity and about half of it was minimally used before I had to cull the plants, so how much of what to use is a guessing game. Rule #1: Less is more.

I added two handsful of EWC for each pot being added (there were 5 in total represented here), a handful of Recharge, a sprinkling of Roots! and watered it in with a diluted TransWater drench until it had the right moisture level. Knowing when you have enough water is something you just need to learn from instinct and experience. I kept adding cups full until I though it was closest to that slightly-wet-but-not-too-wet Graytail tried to teach us about. That took five cups of TransWater for this batch. I like to work slowly and methodically when I add water to the soil. It's so easy to get it wrong. Add a cup, mix it up completely before adding another. I'm feeling for chunks and globs and working on getting that moisture as evenly distributed as I can.

It helps that I love playing in the dirt. :laughtwo:

image1757.jpeg

When I know it's right I stick a pile of leaves into the middle of it all, close it up and put it away. I'll check in a week. Let me make a note of that so I don't forget.

image1758.jpeg

It needs to cook like this for a minimum of two weeks, to my understanding. I won't need it until I return in early February, so it'll have plenty of time.

The tote is once again back in its designated spot in the bedroom. When I take the room back from the grow in December its going to feel absolutely spacious in there! :laughtwo:

Dark Devil Auto: Group Update

I have three growing at once. Quite an interesting mix, with two phenotypes represented, although my larger-leafed variety is in a tiny pot, so it's never going to meet the beauty of BB's lovelies, but it's looking more interesting by the day. It's the oldest specimen, and first up in our little review.

Growing in an azalea pot and with Doc Bud's High BrixBlend Kit. (Day 58)

Next up, also in 5 gallons of Doc's Kit soil, at Day 45. This girl got a couple more CFLs added to give her some side lighting. I just need to get in there every day and move things around to get balance. No problem. :battingeyelashes:

I moved the baby into the tent today. The reflector above her has two warm and two cool bulbs. The strip beside will supplement lighting for both this Dark Devil and the Jamaican Dream. In a few days I'll replace one of the cools with another warm and let it run from there. I'm hoping the reflective walls are helping me out here.

This plant will also be dropped into something holding between 3-5 gallons of soil. I may simply line a crate and fill it with soil. Not a bad idea at that. I have a couple interesting options I can pull from. Maybe tomorrow would be a good time to get that done.

She's in LOS. (Day 30)

image1763.jpeg

I think I stand a chance of getting all of it to ripen and finish before I leave town guys. I think this is going to work. :yahoo:

When I get back from vacation there'll be this incredible stock of produce nicely cured and ready to tear into. What a sweet thought. It almost eliminates the angst at knowing I need to go cold turkey for two months. What'll make it even crazier is that I'll still be here watching you all grow your hearts out producing your own delicious inventory and encouraging you at every opportunity.

It's going to drive me nuts!!!!!! :laughtwo:

Soul Seeds White Widow (Day 63)

I added two more CFLs to light up the buds growing down at the soil level. This plant is amazing. All the hoopla one goes through to drench and spray the Kit girls and this no-till sits quietly over in the corner, and with very little input or bother from me at all, turns out stuff like this:

Yeah - are you seeing this? Weeks to go yet. :laughtwo: :slide:

That's what's so great about this whole way of life. We spend our time learning to be shepherds and we get so much back in return. It's all about learning her little nuances and how every girl is different and the same. I love when I get better at helping them achieve their potential. We set them up the best we can and they reward us with magic. I love seeing someone achieve success! It's a win win for all of us. We understand your excitement because we have been there before and are here with you now. When on your trip I imagine this closet will be on your mind quite often. Mentally redesigning, making plans, almost as fun as the execution is the dreaming.

Daily Update: Perpetual Tent - Week 15, Day 6

Maintenance notes:
- Added more CFLs to the White Widow and the teen Dark Devil Auto.
- Moved the baby Dark Devil Auto into the tent with accompanying CFLs.
- The middle Dark Devil Auto and Unknown Seed got TransWater drenches.
- The Auto Jock Horror x Auto Amnesia seedling got watered with TransWater.
- Both Thunderpaws presented as males and were promptly culled.

Shall we? Here, let me take your arm while we stroll. :battingeyelashes:

I moved the strip that'd been next to the Jamaican Dream down to the Dark Devil Auto to make use of the longer cord.

image1764.jpeg

Then I clipped the lamp with more CFLs up next to th White Widow. Starting to look serious in here now. :battingeyelashes:

image1765.jpeg

Dropped the Afghani back on her SWICK.

image1766.jpeg

image1767.jpeg

AJH x AA is a bit droopy from her drink. I think she needs transplanted in the next couple days. That Original Bubblegum sitting next to her is starting to really take off.

image1768.jpeg

Time to set Carnival on her perch. The littlest Dark Devil Auto found a spot next to the Jamaican Dream and can take advantage of the extra strip of CFL's sitting there as well.

image1769.jpeg

Secluded in the back the middle Dark Devil's just doing her thing.

image1770.jpeg

image28.png

I'm feeling good about this.

image1771.jpeg

image1772.jpeg

Looking back I noticed Carnival was off center under the light. A slight correction in position and it's all ready to be zipped up for the day. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

image1773.jpeg

A fun day with the plants. Everything is in place now, so we just let things cook from here. Planting the last Dark Devil Auto into a larger pot and getting the AJH x AA into a pot are the last chores other than drenches, teas and foliars. The oven's loaded. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I neglected to encourage your joyful expression today. How did that happen? Forgive my oversight and let me take this opportunity to encourage you to dance if the chance arises. Live it large guys. Hand out those hugs like there was some kind of shortage, 'cause I can tell you, there is. There's no way to make up my shortfall yet, but I do my best. Losing hugs has been the hardest part, next to sleeping alone, which you notice I avoid at all cost.

Don't go out there Susan. Deep breath........ Ok, better.

I started out to test this Strawberry Blue hours ago and got lost in posting instead. Let me rectify that now and then hit the threads for a while. The good news is that the brownies have certainly cleared the system by this time so I'll get a good feel for the smoke. I'll be back in about 30 minutes. I think the only way I'm going to get this done is to step away from the iPad, crank some tunes and pay attention to the process. Wish me luck. I'm going in!

:Namaste:

Beautiful Sue. Just beautiful. Every plant is so happy with you. That group shot is amazing. You have your proverbial shit together pardon my French over there woman!
I would nominate your grow room for grow of the month if that were a category. No joking.
I'm going back to look again...
