The Joy Of Growing - SweetSue Goes Perpetual

Everytime I peek inside.....

Hey Sue, I wanted to pop in an say thank you for pointing me in the direction of a skilled and wise cultivator. (Please forgive me, yourself will always be included in that class of grower).
I will be sure to give an update from time to time- but please don't forget to give my garden a good scolding or picking if you please.

All the best,

-as a friend Nivek once said........namasta

You're so welcome. Nothing brings me more pleasure than helping to make connections between community members. I'll drop in from time to time. You're in good hands.

I can't let my wife read that post---btw :o

- question- can I see a copy of your grow cycle"perpetual schedule "? I am trying to figure mine out now, before the shipping fright truck arrives to my house. Lol.

- how many plants do u have in flower? Lol

I'm in an unusual situation in my grow, in that I had an unexpected vacation present itself, so I flipped everything early. At this point there are 17 plants in that tent and 13 of those are blooming. Within days three more will begin to set pistils.

To run a perpetual, figure out which ones you want to run first. Chart them to harvest and then work backwards from there to fill in the holes. When you move them from one stage to another there should be another started and one slipping into the space that opened up. You figure out how often you want to be harvesting and then make sure you plant every time you harvest. Try to have more in veg than you need in bloom because life can be capricious.

Oh yeah, make sure you have enough lights to bring all those plants to harvest. It's the lights that make the big difference.

You are very impressive, Sue at how many strains you run at any given time.

Dchannn, you have come to the right place to ask.

I think I may be more crazy than anything else GG, but thanks for the vote of confidence. :laughtwo:

But isn't being crazy much more fun than being normal? Yes its a pain sometimes but no one remembers the nights they went to bed early, its the longs nights and days that create long lasting memories. Right sue? haha

I admit, life with a bit of an edge is more satisfying at times. :battingeyelashes:

B A R, Sue,

I have been growing Super lemon for close to four years and I am still fond of it. It can get rather large though.

Ultra Lemon Haze is an Auto flower I just found some info on. 12 to 16 hour photo period for flower, less than 3 feet. It could be a candidate for a restricted height grow. There is some comment about not being a normal auto and the amount of ruderalis in it.
.
Shucks, I just lost my Super Lemon Haze... But the Ultra Lemon Haze is nearly ready to flip.

Love anything mango pretty much so it would be great! :goodjob:
Then you'll love Sugar Mango N4W

People, stop making it more confusing than it is! To grow perpetually is simple; stagnate your plant start times. No schedules are necessary. I've been growing perpetually for over a yr and 1/2 by just starting 2 of any combination of seedlings, clones, or re-veggies loosely once a week. (When I say loosely I mean there's been weeks I started 1 or none) It's not that serious!
This was to harvest on an average of once a week leaving room for duds and dudes.

It's not rocket science...

But you do need both a Veg area & a Bloom area and label & date each plant. The main thing is flip times.

Or go with autos, or run the tent at 12/12 or less and you don't need more than one space. You're right Reg, it's really as easy as figure out how often you want to harvest and plant on the same schedule. Think conveyor belt.

Peeking into the tent this morning and I think the Thunderpaws may be getting ready to express themselves as males. This just began showing up this morning, but the growth is not as centrally placed in the nodes to suggest female. They're more round than female expression too, I've noticed. The female ones have a soft point to them. The males have little balls of pollen. These look like developing balls. Notice how they hang a bit off to the side? Yeah, to encourage easier wind access for the pollen release.

By tomorrow we'll know for sure. The same type of growth pattern is showing on #2 as well, unfortunately. Still early, but my gut tells me this could be it.

If that's the case I'm moving my final Dark Devil into this space. That'll get everyone together for the final run. I just need to get it all to harvest now. I'm liking this 10/14 schedule. I can see everything beginning to speed up already.

I'm with BAR on the perpetuity.

I more or less just stumbled on a perpetual grow because I wanted lots of plants.

When to add new plants is completely up to the grower. You could tell yourself that there will always be two plants in veg or once one girl harvests another enters flowering. It doesn't matter when you add new plants as long as there being added. I try to add new plants to the flowering room every 4 weeks. The veg room is packed with plants that might not make it to flower for another 3 months while others come and go before them.

The trick is to ensure that when you need something to smoke. There's something there. ;)

Standing ovation...

I wouldn't start worrying yet Sue, not until you spot a male pod. They like to play tricks, especially this close to Halloween. It might be a treat.

Quite a trick when you're just starting out. You have to keep reminding yourself that you're laying a foundation. Get a couple harvests behind you and it starts to flow. Before you know it you have JARS of inventory, or, if you're DrZiggy, jars of cannailla, canna sugar, canna butter, canna oil..... you get the picture. :laughtwo:

Thanks for rushing in with reassurances B A R. You get a special fresh-from-the-shower hug, so the hair is still flyaway and slightly damp and the scent is a soft coffee and almond mix. Love that soap. :battingeyelashes:

:hugs:

Are we hungover?
Thanx for not waking me Lol.
Have a green day mon tite fillè.

Morning Cajun. I figured you'd appreciate the few uninterrupted moments of extended sleep. Good to know my instincts were spot on. :battingeyelashes: Thank you for not letting me overindulge.

You have a wonderful day yourself mon ami. Make those plants sing as only you can.

B A R,

Have you flowered the Ultra before? Keeper? Thoughts?

I have two of the Super L from different dispensaries. One I picked up last December and the other in early 2012. They probably were clones from the same commercial grow in 2011. I got the newer one in a batch of clones when I was adding strains. I will have to drop one after I flower the newer one.

Perpetual worked too well for me until I tried to scale back and add unfamiliar strains. Half of the last plant went through the microwave. I have one SLH about a week from harvest that is in too small of a pot and a Mazar I put in flower last night. Some of the Mazar could go a branch at a time. It looks better after that.

Thanks

It warms my heart to have someone on my thread who admits to microwaving his cannabis. :battingeyelashes: I'm assuming you mean to quick dry for smoke? I prefer the oven myself. Tried both methods and the oven gives me the best and most consistent high. I'm the only person I know who decarbs buds before smoking them.

Of course now I keep it level with the brownies so I don't smoke until late in the day. Like after midnight. :laughtwo: Tell me someone else had the song kick up in the back of your brain! Haha!

I need to scale back when I get back from vacation (she's beginning to think of terms of "if" :laughtwo: ) and I don't want that to cause much disruption in flow. Not being able to take any of the harvest with me will help in this regard. The idea of being straight for up to two months isn't attractive, but damn, the woman's worth it! But when I start up I want to be smart enough to get the scheduling right.

I won't have a personal grow journal running during that time. I still have five other threads I maintain, so no lack of involvement. Maybe I can catch up on subscriptions then. :laughtwo: I plan to run a Callanetics training ground and study the curative powers of cannabis and in particular cannabis oil. They plan to give me a new hairstyle, a natural make-over and wine and dine the hell out of me as we welcome in another transformative year.

It's going to be a time.

Forming the canopy: Jamaican Dream

I freed everyone up to see what we had. Not a bad job so far, all things considered.

A look down into the depths.

There's one over here feeling a little left out. Think I'll flip her with the one above her.

Such a willing participant. These plants almost laugh with glee when I get in there and mess with them. Have we explored the idea that they might be benefitting more than we suspect from touch? There's always that loving factor that defies being quantified. They know I love them. I'm sure of that.

:battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

A lot of laughter going on here. :battingeyelashes:
