The Joy Of Growing - SweetSue Goes Perpetual

What are you trying to say Mr A? Something Freudian?

Sue, what was on your mind when you were trimming that little beauty?

Never even crossed my mind until now. Can't stop laughing.

Lol.
I had some Green Crack & Durbon Poison shatter a few weeks ago.
Whoa....
I still have a lil Super Lemon Haze left cause no one will touch it. It's like 6 expresso shots.

I just recently processed some Stardawg (Chemdawg 4 x Tres Dawg) full melt. Most people can't handle it! I did grow it wit ha bit more UV radiation so it makes sense the CBN count is high giving it a bit of raciness. I can't smoke it unless its a morning thing sounds just like the SLH you were talking about. Like being on an IV of espresso for a good 4 or so hours!

Weaselcracker, Llama,

Most of my life I have not known what I was smoking, though I have known that there were some I liked much better than others. And some that was so bad that I usually kept trying to grow something that I liked on a very small scale for the hard times.

Now I have 4 years of growing known genetics though only about 8 total and only Shiskaberry and SLH are still going from the beginning.

I grabed 13 more strains as cuttings last December and February. A Scot's from the December batch I flowered early for me, in a 5 gal. pot and have a clone going that is about two feet now. I also cut what was left of a Herojuana that I have been microwaving a branch at a time two days ago. Feast or famine.

What I am trying to do is get some plants that grow rather fast and have at least good yield. I have for the most part been able to do that. I also want an oz or two of everything I like in the freezer, that is but a dream.

Most of what I have not named here are going to be smaller plants or some that can be kept small and will go into flower when they wind up as the one that needs to go into flower next.

The larger ones and some of the others will mostly start out as keif and could wind up as anything that you can be vape in a good desk top model.

Back to the Malawi, the picks look like it could be finished at 4.5 feet if toped early and pinched a little?

Overcrowding and bugs have been most of my problems.

Hermies, are a real concern and uncontrolled pollen would be a disaster.

The two seed banks are a good start for me. The reason I ask was the thought that I knew someone who could go to a store front. I am beginning to realize that most may not have a retail spot at all.

Thanks, I am catching on a little.

I never know

I think the Malawi could be controlled in a scrog but truthfully, they just get big and have a 12-14 week flower period.

I have never seen a Malawi hermie. I think land race strains are seldom prone to that affliction unless seriously stressed. Spontaneous hermaphroditism is unusual(I've never heard of a Malawi going hermie)

May I ask why your washing them? I've only seen it done for moldy bud. Not questioning your methods to correct you. Just for my own knowledge :thumb:

Llama,

The Broncos are the only game on. And, I dislike them. Responses are coming in fast now. [ ;- ))

I can handle big, just not that many and not at the same time. The flower time is not that much longer than some I already have, though my times in flower run a little long. I have been blaming it on high night and day temps.

Malawi is becoming an, I want.

Most/many of us wash our produce - just like any other veggie we'd consume. You'd be surprised at the amount of crap you get off them, espcially if you use foliars. A couple of members have had their harvests tested with and w/o washing. The wash does not appear to lower potency at all, but it does improve taste, IMO.

Study/planning mode. Carnival is up for the first CAT within the next week, and I'm sure come one else must be getting close too. It's a lot of charges to track.

"How can I tell you that I lo-o-o-o-o-ove you?...." Gosh, I just melt when Cat Stevens sings that. :laughtwo:

You're supposed to be more careful than this when you work on the floor. I only had enough chicory root for this one cup. Good thing I caught it was tipping over.

Now I need to rework those pages. Maybe this is a good thing. These pages need a redesign. I'm going to believe this was the Universe making that glaringly obvious to me and do that redesign now.

Sometimes you just need to listen a little more carefully. :battingeyelashes:

I'm counting on being able to cram that Malawi into individual scrog screens, Canyon. It will be a couple months yet before I get to that point. I'm sure it will be fine. I haven't had any problem so far cramming plants into screens, as long as I'm there to do some training during the stretch period, which I'm often not.

Wow! Sue that trim job is really awesome on so many levels!!!! Good for you. I'm still giggling too!! I ain't no psychologist but...

Ah I see. Thanks for the info :thumb:

Daily Drenches: Carnival (Day 95)

The last thing I said to her when I zipped up yesterday was "I know you're thirsty. Tomorrow."

Time for her TransWater drench.

image1391.jpeg

Time for the Recharge topdress too.

image1392.jpeg

It's Recharge (know your proportions - I wing it), sprinkled with some Roots!, covered with a nice layer of EWC and topped off with a layer of fresh dirt. Then water in with the rest of the drench. I always split the drench and put half in the tote to soak up while I very slowly pour the rest from above. It seems to be working nicely.

image1393.jpeg

She's already beginning to recover. Back into the tent with her.

image1394.jpeg

Once in there it became obvious that this LST isn't going to work in this crowded tent. Off it comes.

image1395.jpeg

Carnival unfettered. It took her no time at all to start reaching for that light. She's sitting about 25" from the panel, and I think that may be the best place after listening to Icemud discussing LED footprints. Dorm Grow actually recommends 29" or thereabouts, so I'm comfortable with this.

Major, are you trying to scare us with that avatar? Made me take a BIG bong hit !!! Saaaaay....thanks! RoorRip

Major answered this wonderfully. I just wanted to add that this particular plant had no foliars and lived her entire life bug free and without any known pollutants on her surface and yet there was no way I could convince myself to not wash her. I thought about pasding on it today and just couldn't do it.

That should make Doc proud, don't you think? :battingeyelashes: See? I really am paying attention. LOL!

I agree, the wash appears to improves the flavor of the final product. We may be just projecting that though, because none of us wants to ingest unsmoked buds anymore. :laughtwo: I also believe it helps the dry and cure progress more evenly. I've been enormously satisfied with my washed buds.

Weaselcracker,
Everything here is perpetual and SCRoG is not doable. I have been working on ways to get a 4 ft. canape that finishes out at about five and a half or six feet from the floor. Most of the time it turns into tying things down in flower for a while then tying things up for a while.

These are two of the last I did this size. they are still in the vegy room here.

That's gorgeous Canyon. I don't see why you couldn't do individual scrogs. I don't want to take advantage of Sue's hospitality too much but check my journal first page or two for an example of some individual screens. Nothing groundbreaking there that you couldn't easily think of but may help with ideas.

Please, no concerns about my hospitality. I'm enjoying the conversation. I think he should check out your journal too.

Oh good. Well- anyway, a basic system is four poles supporting a screen above the plant. The size I'm doing works out so I just jam the poles into the pots. Screen is fixed in such a way I can slide it up and down the poles and adjust height/tilt if I want.
For a plant like yours what may work better would be to make a base- could be plywood on runners or rollers for moveability. Is that a word? Ummmm.... You get the idea
The poles are fixed into the plywood base. Everything can be easily taken apart, adjusted, reassembled. People sometimes use PVC pipe which is convenient though not super strong. I'm using small aluminium arrow shaft type rods.
The scrogging does take some of the natural beauty away from the plant I find, but I kind of need to do it that way because in my grow/life right now things get too out of control otherwise.

They will take up a lot of room. You will need to scrog them or you will be supe cropping. Mine grew almost 8 ft tall indoors.

I have grown and bred the Landrace Malawi Gold from seeds of Africa.(I ended up with thousands of pure landrace Malawi Gold seeds) My next grow will be to make feminized MG seeds. I've also crossed MG with Y Griega and another with Colombian Gold.

ps. I love to swap and barter...pm

When I have my own seeds produced I'll be messaging you first for swapsies :thumb: I've got the MG from seeds of africa aswell plus the swazi gold and durban magic. I also have world of seeds columbian gold :thumb: I want to do a breeding project with all 4 of them, cross the swazi and columbian or maybe the durban and malawi. Ahhhhh so many breeding options that makes me happy :)

I've already made a cross of Malawi and Colombian (I call it Fools Gold) just f1's for now but will work on it in the future.

Sue my apologies for hijacking your thread....:;):
