The Joy Of Growing - SweetSue Goes Perpetual

I already am Doc. It was a slap to screw up right out of the gate, because I'm genuinely excited about the whole process and my expectations are high. At the very least we get to show how forgiving the soil can be.

The irony is I think I've written out the plan six times this past couple days, refining the charting. Ah well, I guess I have to let myself be human too. When this craziness settles down I'm going to sleep for hours! Just a couple more days.

The first watering I did with these products was supposed to be 1 oz. Growth Energy and 2.5 mils Tea. I used 1 oz. Tea and 2.5 mils Growth Energy.....the leaves got a tad twisted up they did! But everything recovered and it will in your case too.

Wait till they have 5 sets of true leaves before you give them foliar sprays, but once that starts dont' miss 'em! That's how you're going to feed the soil....via the root exudates brought about by the foliar spray. It's very important.

Your first drench should be Growth Energy.

It was $157 plus shipping. In my case that took me to $171.50. The speed controller was around $20.

Hey....just for your info guys.I paid 400 bones for the fan/filter combo....no shipping, got them in town here. What a deal that is Boogs at 157. Grab it ! Get neccessary ducting (flex, solid,or a combination of both) to get it done. Try and only put ONE 90 in the run. If you want even more quiet running....insulate all exposed ducting with your choice of product(keep it light). Always use any supplied gaskets between fan and filter...if none came with your stuff, get one.Metal on metal is not smart.Causes added vibration and noise.Tape the seal at the joint with ya , ....you got it...duct tape. More than one 90 ...or a long distance between fan and filter is not good. It's best to attach them together, keep the run as short as possible, and mount as one unit. This is the recommended method for what we're doing.

I know most of you out there already know this stuff ,however there are some who just need to hear it ,ya know?
I might as well mention the speed controller too. They're inexpensive get one...don't run your new fan at 100% Why? Doesn't make any sense. We want to draw enough air thru the filter to clean it ,then exhaust it,period . Do this by oversizing the components a little. Just cuz some salesman says ,oh ,just use this 4inch baby here,it'l be great......Bullshit.Youle have to run the little thing at full speed to do the job. Sure it'l work, but ,it'l be noisy ,won't do as good a job,and will not last long.
If you get a decent fan/filter combo, and oversize it a little , you can set the SC down from that 100% ,to say 70-75% ,and still pull alot of air thru the filter....which will last longer now cuz the air is travelling much slower thru it. This also increases the effectiveness of the odor killing properties of Carbon ...more time in the Carbon....cleaner the air.
OK, i'm done this little blurb. Whooosh...Where's my Heiny?:circle-of-love:

Its right there behind you. Its been following you around all day.

SweetSue,

the size of pot and amount of soil also play a major role in plant size, even more than the light, IMO. :)
plus I use both light switches, veg and bloom on from seed to harvest.

Agreed. I have two clones taken at the same time from the same mother in the same soil. One is in 1 gal. and the other was in 7 gal. The difference in size is nearly proportional. I'd say the plant in the larger pot is about 5 times as big. Also, it seems like an auto strain veg'd under 11/13 would be size-challenged.

Yeah, that's super cheap Duggan. I might as well just get the filter even though I'm not too worried about odor.

Yes ,for sure. And yes,get the 6" for your 5x5. Good choice brotha. You'le be glad you did. That is the correct price eh?....for both? Wow. Remember, your gonna dial that down to 70-75% so it doesn't have to run like it's gonna blast off!

I agree, and I meant to include the effect of the smaller pots in that post. That doesn't account for my Devil's stunted growth. I think in her case it had more to do with the closet being too cool for that crucial first couple weeks. With an auto you need to get it right from the beginning. That would apply to our entire tents then, wouldn't it Ziggy. Get it right from the start. Yeah Girl. Listen to that. :laughtwo:

I'm also a fan of the full spectrum approach. My LED is full spectrum and I always mix the spectrums with CFLs. In this light schedule I suppose that becomes more critical.

Looking good SS. Nice update.

Thanks Onezip. It's falling together nicely. Next week I get to buy that shelf unit for the trays and add more lighting. I'll be so relieved to get that part out of the way. Then it's just add another decent LED and I should be done.

Hahaha!! Are we ever really done? :laughtwo:

Ahem ... DeStress is a foliar, not a drench ...

Did you, by any chance, mean Transplant?

To be honest, Transplant is probably what I intended to pick up, and may have been what I read, but it was indeed DeStress that I ultimately used. Can we call it a blonde moment? :battingeyelashes: Actually, I'm most thankful that I documented it, because I almost didn't, and that would have been a bigger mistake. If I'm going to make a mistake, let it be early.

You can bet your life I'll get it right from now on. :laughtwo::Love:

I need to unpack and organize the kit and supplies for maintenance. Life has been so crazy that my normally clean and orderly home is looking like some hoarders moved in. Having no time at home is getting old. I'm always dashing in and out. I certainly hope it settles down a bit after tomorrow.

These times when they're playing around in his already compromised heart make me a bit edgy. I'll be lucky to get any sleep tonight. He's scheduled for 9:30 in the morning, first up to the plate. At least it'll be over quickly. "Routine" procedures can become anything but in the blink of an eye. I have the assurance that he has some of the finest cardiologists in the area on board. This team is scary talented.

Hey Boogyman, this was the price for just the fan. The entire thing cost me less than $400, speed controller and shipping included.

Kudos

Your little devil is looking delicious!

This is a great forum thread, as it not only has good documentation, but a variety of opinions making their way into the mix. It's the only one I follow on a continuous basis besides checking up on Doc's Q & A thread for any new tips or tricks. Keep up the good work... even if it includes a mistake or two.

Wish I was Reg. :laughtwo: Three hours sleep and feeling just a bit punchy. A big cup of coffee is called for. They should be taking him to the cath lab soon here. Get this one behind us, I'll be much better. He's done little else than sleep for about three days. Hopefully this will change things somewhat. He's so weak right now.

I'm touched MysterySeeds. We are nothing if not human here. I appreciate the balance all those different viewpoints bring into play. I also appreciate the tolerance they show me. This point in our lives is unprecedented for us and I'm still learning how to deal with it with at least some grace and dignity.

Amazingly, having you all in tow has made me more aware of looking for the joyful moments to keep us moving forward. It's an unexpected benefit of journaling. :green_heart:
