Evenin' SweetSue,
I've been learning a little about terpenes, and ran across a few things you might be interested in.
If you enjoy the buzz from fresh buds, it may be because you like the cooperation between THC and other Terpenoids. one class of terpenes, the monoterpenes, are present in growing and fresh buds but either evaporate or are changed to more complex terpenoids during the cure.
The early, more volatile terpenes include pinene (smells like turpentine), linalool (smells like lavender), myrcene (thyme), and geranyl? (Smells like rose oil qnd geraniums). Also limonene.
Turns out that all of the above have modifying effects on cannabinoid receptors, and may be just as impirtant in determining the kind of buzz you get as the cannabinoid profile.
Maybe its one of those interactions that gives you the buzz from fresh buds that you lose in the cure. All of these terpenes are available as essential oils.
Then I was reading about how cigar makers infuse cigars with flavours.
Take a good whiff of those buds from the cotton candy. Compare with after the cure. If you can identify the missing component, you might be able to get some of it back by infusing the cured bud with the early component.
The other thing I ran across, which you probably know, is that linalool, the terpene that is also in lavender, is noted for its calming and anti-anxiety effects. You might consider putting some lavender oil in an infuser in the cure jar containing buds youve grown for your daughter. Or just put some flowers in the jar with the buds.
sleep well!
