The Joy Of Growing - SweetSue Goes Perpetual

I need to turn in. See you all tomorrow.

Goodnight.

SweetSue, you are a plant goddess! I admire your work! :goodjob:

Well that's definitely the first time someone referred to me as a goddess! :laughtwo:

I'm trying hard to get better at this growing thing Legal. I'm glad you find my journey entertaining. Hopefully the entertainment value will become due to my being able to keep the brood thriving.

It keeps me off the streets. :battingeyelashes:

I was wondering about that Graytail. It seems to be the only variable that would account for it. Interesting. I was going to be concerned about it and decided that with these plants I don't think that matters at all.

Good morning everyone. This gardener is in a particularly good mood today. There's nothing quite as satisfying as rolling out of bed right into the tent to find everyone accounted for.

:tommy: Just arriving, in High BrixBlend Kit soil, please welcome

The dance card is full. Hopefully I'll get replacements for the Dark Devil Auto and Medical No Name in time for the next round in two weeks, but if not, they'll find their way into the last part of this cycle.

Let's get this party started!!! :slide: :yahoo: :slide:

Yes, I am dancing through the apartment. :laughtwo:

=SweetSue Perpetual Tent - Week 11, Day
I know I'm not imagining it. The seedlings growing out here, with only CFLs and with 18 hours on instead of 11, are much tighter in node development. Much tighter. I'm not sure if that's a function of the decreased light or the addition of all the ambient LED lighting, which shouldn't effect the tent seedlings at all, I would think. It must be the increased light schedule. :hmmmm:

=SweetSue I actually want them tight Cruizer, and the CFLs work best the closer you can get them. Surround that plant with light. Looking back over the photos, the reflectors are about the same height over the seedlings in both grow spaces. That's why it intrigued me.

Then why ask the question if you already know the answer.

Edit: Here was my answer
The reason for the tight node spacing is from how close you have the cfl's to the plant. You raise the cfl's, they will stretch and increase their node length.

Daily Update: Perpetual Tent - Week 12

It certainly gives one spring in the step to know all the current dancers have found their place. Now we just have to hold our breath about sexing, and all will be right in SweetSue's little corner of Paradise. :battingeyelashes:

Let's take a little walk. Here, we can go arm-in-arm.

image29149.jpg

Whew! Much happier with this. Let's remember that crucial fact Susan. Ambient room temperature will always determine the interior temperature of your tent. OK. I think I have that one now. :cheesygrinsmiley:

image29148.jpg

This is the base of Cheese Candy. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but this is a plant screaming out to be my first attempt at revegging. Anybody else see the potential here? Not that I have a space prepared to do such a wonderous adventure. :laughtwo:

image29150.jpg

image29151.jpg

This lovely plant, who offered me one sweet buzz last night with the sacrifice of one small bud that lasted all evening and into the wee hours, is now on her 75th day and plugging away like a real trooper. Those little colas growing all over her are delightful! She's going to reward me big time for the abuse. There's something inherently wrong with a plant that rewards abuse like these do. :laughtwo: Let's not say that too loud though, cause nobody's complaining here. :blunt:

image29152.jpg

image29153.jpg

Right there, see that nice open space? That looks like a nice place to plant another seed, or at least to drop one of the Afghanis in. Problem with them is we don't know sex yet, so I'm thinking pick out a nice feminized seed from the reserves and plop it in there sometime this week. If I plant off to the side it can get established and still leave room for an Afghani transplant later. Still mulling that over. My initial plan with this pot was to make it a revolving perpetual. I have decided that something else is going in there before the Cheese Candy comes down. Looking at her I feel like she's at least another month out, so I have time to decide.

image29154.jpg

Its an enticing space though, just calling to me to do something soon. I hear you. I'm considering the options.

image29155.jpg

The African Buzz is now 74 days into the dance. She's starting to fade the pistils a bit more aggressively and frosting up at a nice steady pace. 100% Sativa. Can't wait to try this one guys. :slide:

image29156.jpg

Auto Destroyer, at Day 75 and those buds are still swelling. Almost no new pistils showing up, so still at least a week out. I'm gonna try to let myself stay away from her for two weeks. Anybody want to take bets that I can't do it? :laughtwo: I need to be fair to myself and admit there have been extenuating circumstances in my life that sometimes cause one to harvest just a tad early. I mean really, we don't grow it to look at, do we? I'm partial to fresh picked. I suspect that won't change significantly when I have an inventory. (:yahoo:). An inventory will simply mean strains will have the time to cure properly. Don't get me wrong, I like it cured too. Very much so. I've just noticed a personal preference for fresh buds. Surely I can't be the only one among this illustrious gathering to have this preference
.

Now for the little ones.

New Year's Bag Seed: Day 1 *sigh* Dale's never going to get to compare these two. We were excited about doing that.

Moving right along. This specimen is planted in Doc's HB Kit soil.

Also in Doc's HB Kit soil, Auto Jock Horror x Auto Amnesia: Day 4, and Auto Jack Herer: Day 12

image29163.jpg

In LOS, Strawberry Blue: Day 12, Buddha Tahoe OG: Day 2, and New Year's Bag Seed: Day 5

That's my brood today folks. This happy gardener is now going to treat herself out to lunch along the river. This may be my last for a while. I discovered the other day, after I'd depleated most of the family funds knowing more would be deposited at the beginning of the month, that my checks will be deposited in the third Wednesday of every month, because my birthday falls in December. Now this piece of information would have been nice to have before I spent most of the funds on hand. :laughtwo: Thankfully I have some mad money stashed so it won't be much of a setback. What it means is I can't be eating out every day. Then again, maybe I can. :battingeyelashes: I have simple needs. As long as the seed order is good, I'm good. Hahaha! Priorities guys. You understand.

I'm headed out now to spread joy and laugh as often as possible. It's absolutely beautiful out there this morning. I think a walk to the labyrinth would be a nice lead in to lunch. Have a splendid day everyone. Thanks for stopping to brighten my world. I'll be visiting most of you later. :hugs:

:Namaste:

Then why ask the question if you already know the answer.

Edit: Here was my answer

Because when I asked it Cruiser, I was considering the effect the 11/13 lighting schedule might have on the seedlings as well. My instinct was right about the lights though, as was your info, and I appreciate you jumping in with that. I don't think you can talk about the importance of light placement enough. Everything else going on in this grow that I'm learning as I go, CFLs are the one thing I'm absolutely comfortable about. You can't get those babies too close.

As it turns out, it really doesn't matter about stretch on these specimens.

Daily Update: Perpetual Tent - Week 12

Whew! Much happier with this. Let's remember that crucial fact Susan. Ambient room temperature will always determine the interior temperature of your tent. OK. I think I have that one now. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Ambient room temp along with air flow/replacement within the tent will determine tent temps. Don't forget about the air flow part.
Increasing the air flow through the tent will result in decreased temperature differential between the air inside the tent and the air outside of the tent. This also results in less condensation build up on the inside of the tent walls.

What it means is I can't be eating out every day. Then again, maybe I can. :battingeyelashes: I have simple needs. As long as the seed order is good, I'm good. Hahaha! Priorities guys. You understand.

:Namaste:

Why would you need to be eating out every day when you've got lots of tasty buds at home. Mary J salad anyone...?? Mary J brownies for dessert anyone....?? :yummy:

I came across Dale's set of Linking Rings. It's a magic illusion, his favorite to perform, though he stopped performing it after we married. The hermit thing, I guess. Anyway, there's a post about it on my Spot thread.

This illusion is looking for its next home, where it can be used and appreciated. These things shouldn't sit static, and this one's been in limbo too long. Please check out the post.

Thanks.

The top ones are in the tent under 11/13 lighting. The bottom two are in the Tiny Closet under 18/6.
The seedlings on the left are in LOS.
Strawberry Blue: Day 12
Afghani #2: Day 12

The ones on the right are in Kit soil.
Auto Jack Herer: Day 12
Carnival: Day 11

I thought it might be fun to track them week to week for a while.

I had to answer this fun quip UncleC. :laughtwo: In this case the ambient temperature was a steamy 88 degrees and it still took me almost an hour to make that connection. LOL!!!

When I have sufficient inventory on hand I munch a baked bud before breakfast, one for lunch and one somewhere around 7 and I coast on a sweet cloud of creativity right on into the wee hours of the morning. ("In the wee small hours of the morning -" oh wow! I'd forgotten that one!) It's still not going to mean I'll cook for myself again anytime soon. :laughtwo:

Now, let me go find that Sinatra spin.

Good to know you hold me in such esteem Growlow. :laughtwo: I find it intriguing to watch them explode in growth and since I do daily updates the changes are so subtle that you miss the drama. I considered going to weekly updates like everyone else, but one of my goals way back last Sept.when I started journaling was to leave a daily record for the data banks. Well, that and I love putting them together, so there's not much motivation to change. Hahaha!

Were we supposed to PLAN our updates - I missed that memo :)

I mostly post updates when I notice something --- thats why it is several days sometimes - I didn't notice a thing :)

I just really like the sound of my own voice Rad. :laughtwo: I actually like the sporadic way you post. There's always this sense of wonder in what you observe. And then you're so darned poetic about it.

Yes. That natural sense of confusion, rambling thoughts and actions... There is a reason I chose Radogast as a screen name :)
Some of my older posts were poetic - then they were pompous - who knows what the future will bring?
All I know is those smiles at the end of my sentences are real word smiles :)

You like to voice your opinions, but you also encourage others to let their opinions and achievements shine ... tha's a good combination !
