The Hexapus's Garden

Hate to break it to you mate, 35 years, lol.. We just celebrated our 25 years together few months back.. I got her a new pot, she got me stoned, it's what we do

. . . .

Thai Stick is very interesting to me. I wish not for the first time that I'd spent more time investigating the subject of weed in Thailand instead of just smoking it. Seems like a lot of mystery around some herb that was still being imported and smoked 35 to 40 years ago. Many former growers, smokers, and smugglers of it still around. Dipped in opium? I highly doubt it. Wouldn't burn worth a shit and would be a waste of good opium I'm sure.

. . . . .
Once the sativas disappeared it all seemed to just become whatever the dealer said it was, which we knew it probably wasn't anyway, but didn't give a shit because whatever it was it was all we could get.
Once the weed became all indica is when I started feeling crappy and paranoid most of the time I smoked it. Exceptions were hash and the bud I got when travelling. I knew there was such a thing as indicas and sativas and sativas had pointier leaves but that's as far as my knowledge went. I never let the paranoia stop me of course, and valiantly continued to get stoned and paranoid for the next 25 years (patting myself on back) till I started growing sativas.

I started in 79, same story. Thai Stick is very interesting to me. Me too. Not that I remember much/any of the 80s. Dipped in opium? I highly doubt it. Me too doubt it. I remember opium being soapy tasting. Soapy Opie.

East.coast.US I don't remember seeing hash black or blond after say 1983, until I got to Amsterdam in 2000-ish. We got, to my knowledge, columbian. Or at least columbian dudes we knew got it. Just like this....it all seemed to just become whatever the dealer said it was, which we knew it probably wasn't anyway, but didn't give a shit because whatever it was it was all we could get.....
I didnt know then but it was probably mostly indica in the 90s
:goof:

Bringing back memories......Anywho, dropping by to say hi. I like the SE asia strains for my Mrs. I don't partake in anything anymore but my mrs she like the Thai. We both have those memories of Thai Stick.

Somehow I remember spending more time talking about looking than actually smoking anything.

82, wtf? thought you similar in age to me... Old bastard..

Let's see.... 4th grade.... had to be '74. Geez. Grew my first plant in Jr. High. Had to quit for a few years... decades... Uncle Sam frowned on such things even back then. I can remember devouring issues of High Times and dreaming of growing vast fields... that I knew would soon be legal.

Always an interesting conversation going on over here. :battingeyelashes:

I missed out on all the interesting stuff. That fundamental Christian upbringing that demonized anything enjoyable...... :laughtwo: I remember Thai Stick though, with Dale, in the early 80s. I remember being unimpressed. All those years of tracking down an eighth every day to keep him medicated we took whatever we could get. You didn't even question it, just handed over the money, took your little Baggie and went home.

I had no idea until I showed up here that sativas even existed. I just knew that I enjoyed being high, but I didn't feel like the high I was getting was well-suited to me. Then I smoked my first sativa, grown by my own hand. Won't be going back to indicas anytime soon. :laughtwo:

I don't smoke weed everyday but I love the knockout effect of an indica, helps me sleep a lot more than sativas tend to. My mind doesn't let me sleep sometimes even when I'm dozy/dozing, but for me that's what indica helps with, sleep is underrated to me lol. It is nighttime here though so I'm bound to be biased

I'm trying to harvest this Bubba's Gift but smoking more than I'm chopping. Indica still works

I say harvesting, more like chopping chunks and smoking it lol. It's dried on the vine and hand trimmed, kept the frosty bits

When I dry my bud I just take my plants out of the tent and leave them to die in peace. They drain all the leaves to crispness and brown up nicely, is this wrong? They seem stronger

I've done this with my OGK's, but not intentionally. The smoke was great, so I have been told by my family. In fact, it might be a more natural way to dry buds. If you bud wash, you can always do it early, while they are still green, on the plant, under a gentle shower.

Does it taste good? Get you ripped? couldn't be wrong then..

I only ingest. I don't smoke. But I have gotten pretty stoned on a couple cookies I made. LOL! The smokers in the family liked it for daytime use.

This time around, I am trying to make seeds from a batch of mystery sativas, so there probably wont be much more than leaves for smoking or ingestion. But one of them has trics all the way down the branches! Or maybe that is rosen. But you can see what looks like sticky hairs all the way down. I call her Miss Sticky!

I see no harm in experimenting with methods not normally used by the majority of growers. If the end product is good, you can go right from dried-on-the-vine to jarring.

1/4" ball valves will give you all the control you need. Set the timer 3x what you think and control volume with the valves. A pack of 10 won't set you back much. I grew the Wild Thai from ACE. I completely forgot I grew it until reading the last posts here. That's not to say it's bad, but it must not have been great???

I hope the "let it dry out" theory is valid. I have a Panama and Malawi that have been starved of food for 5 weeks and water a couple times in the last 3. Buds look great! Leaves not so much.. Report to follow.

Please try Maui WC. I promise you'll love it. Don't ask me how I know... I just do.

Sue, love your vibes. I am a closet fan of yours. I'm not a hugger so I guess that's why I'm a closet fan. I grew up up in the Catholic Regan days. A life of career and athletic D&A testing... I still haven't gotten to dabble in this plant. Oddly, I likely know more than 99% out there about it (maybe 10% of this forum population only). Funny how life works...

Still a huge fan of the Hexapuss. Rock on WC!!!

are all Malawi that color or is this a specific strain, sorry couldnt go through 76 pages to find out lol.

thanks to whoever answers.

Hey mate. Not sure what you mean by 'that' color but here are a couple representative pictures of Ace Malawi bud which is the only Malawi I know well. It has a blueish green frosty colour to it.

Wow that was a busy day for this weird journal I felt lost and confused here for a second till I went back a page.
Spitz what do you mean exactly by 'Maui'? Is there only one?
I did search for 1/4" ball valves before, and I remember I couldn't find whatever I was looking for. Can't remember why, I'll look again.

That was all very interesting reading, thank you. I especially love hearing bullshit and stories.

What else...
I broke into the Golden Tiger a few days ago and haven't looked away since. This plant is a cross of an Ace Malawi plant crossed with a Thai male. I expected it to be a bit speedy but instead it's been 'the next new thing'. Hurrah!
You know when you first try a new good strain, and it's the best smoke ever? But then the effect of it wears off a bit when you keep on smoking it every day? Ha ha.. Till one day you try the next great strain?
I'm sure the 'new strain' phenomenon will be a factor with the Golden Tiger as well but for now I am extremely happy with it. :thumb:
So far this bud has done nothing but make me happy. I feel 100% functional. Feeling functional is a big issue with me and pot. With this smoke I feel like I can be 100% focussed on something happily in front of me, but never even worry about losing track of whatever the other dozen lesser ideas/obligations are- percolating on the back-burner at any given moment in my life. Malawi is kind of unsettling if you smoke too much, which isn't very much.
Something about this bud makes me feel very clear and grounded and confident.
Studies, last night and the night before, (and possibly even the night before that but who could hope to see that far back in the mists of time?), but especially studious efforts tonight, have shown what happens if a person (me) smokes 'too much' Golden Tiger.

The report:cheertwo:

It does eventually put one into a bit of a catatonic state.

But...:tommy:....

:tommy:

:tommy: not to worry :tommy:

It's a happy and unrepentant 'aware' catatonic state, if that makes any sense. A better catatonic state.

I don't mean to say that my catatonic state is better than your catatonic state... I just mean to say that it's a better state for me, compared to the many catatonic states I personally have been in, in the past.
There is probably a lot of competition for mastery in this particular field on this forum, it occurs to me...

In short, I think this strain, Golden Tiger, is an important step along the way for anyone else out there who is pursuing a masters degree in getting stoned. I highly recommend it, to you gentle reader, for further study.
