The Hempire Strikes Back!

...
i trimmed and cleaned up the one hempy but didn't do any major trimming just small scraggly stuff at the bottom. Im still curious though even if hypothetical about how much i could trim off her and still be safe like say if i wanted to make her shorter then she is what is a safe amount to trim away. Im thinking about taking a clone off the new mother when i can and just have a test plant that i will push to its limits just so i have a clear understanding of what i can and can't do.

As long as your basic growing conditions are good and you don't mind waiting for the plant to put out regrowth, in my opinion/assumption- you could strip it down till it had only one tiny leaf left and it would grow just fine. I think even if you took all the leaves off it would still grow fine.

-keep the conditions good, which includes basically treating the stripped plant as a smaller plant and not overwatering or over feeding.

My veg room is overcrowded now and I have to toss some plants. I'll strip one naked and see what happens.
I'm going to post this pm in your journal cause that will be easier.

Ok I posted about this in my journal as well- but basically I chopped two clones from about 16" high down to little stalks. The Malawi I left some tiny leaves on and the Pinapple Chunk is nothing but stem. I'll just leave them down on the floor of the veg room to see how they regrow.

I will be looking forward to the results, you really chopped em down good lol.

I been trying out a new feeding schedule for these girls cause i had suspected that my previous formula got too hot and caused issues. My former schedule was
Clone/seedling = 2ml micro 1ml grow 1ml bloom 0ml calmag
Early veg= 4ml micro 5ml grow 1ml bloom 2ml calmag
Late veg= 5ml micro 5ml grow 2.5ml bloom 2.5ml calmag
Transition= 4ml micro 4ml grow 4ml bloom 2.5ml calmag
Early bloom= 4ml micro 1ml grow 5ml bloom 2.5ml calmag
Mid bloom= 4ml micro 1ml grow 6ml bloom 2.5ml calmag
Late bloom= 4ml micro 0ml grow 8ml bloom 2ml calmag
Then flush.
When using this schedule stuff would go good for a little then plants would lock out.
My current schedule is going better so far although i haven't had a full run with it just yet.
Veg week 1= 1ml micro 0.5ml grow 0.5ml bloom 5ml calmag
Veg week 2= 2.5ml micro 2.5ml grow 0.5ml bloom 5ml calmag
Veg week 3= 2.5ml micro 2.5ml grow 1ml bloom 2.5ml calmag
Transition week 4= 2.5ml micro 2.5ml grow 2.5ml bloom 2.5ml calmag
Early bloom W5= 2.5ml micro 1ml grow 2.5ml bloom 2.5ml calmag
Early bloom W6= 2.5ml micro 1ml grow 2.5ml bloom 2.5ml calmag
Midbloom W7= 2.5ml micro 0.5ml grow 2.5ml bloom 2.5ml calmag
Midbloom W8= 2.5ml micro 0.5ml grow 2.5ml bloom 2.5ml calmag
Latebloom W9= 2.5ml micro 0ml grow 4ml bloom 2.5ml calmag
Latebloom W10= 2.5ml micro 0ml grow 4ml bloom 2.5ml calmag
Ripen W11= 1ml micro 0ml grow 4ml bloom 2.5ml calmag
Flush.
Don't know how that will go in flowering so far they are at week 3 and looking much nicer then the plants i did with the previous schedule. Do you guys think it sounds decent in flowering i wonder if it will be too light.

Sorry lex I can't help you with the nute regime- I don't use those nutes and I don't really measure by the ml. But- my epiphany of the last month or two has been that if I get the chance to actually test things out I can save myself a lot of confusion. I know it's extra work and you have a very small space- but if you ever get the chance to do a run where you have two plants going and feed one high/one low- stuff like that can clear up a lot of confusion. I mean- it doesn't always clear up the confusion, but there's a pretty good chance it will, and at least for myself it seems I can go years repeating the same mistakes and confusing myself. There are so many variables. Any change I get to do side by side tests -I'm going to bite the bullet and do it. Feels like work, but it can save a lot in the end.

Ya ideally a side by side would be better im just working on the basis that last few rounds have been with the high amount of nutes and tyere would always be a point where they were fine looking green and then next thing i know they are losing leaves like crazy and going yellow fast. So far with the lower level nutes they are keeping a good color and haven't had anything like the higher nutes caused (supposedly) now there is only one plant that has experienced both nutes and since going with the lighter mix she is looking alot better (plant in question is the one i was hesitant to trim which is in flowering now) so thats what ive observed so far i would like to do side by side tests but for now its more important to get a good harvest. If i was sitting on a few ounces of bud i would feel more confident doing side by side tests til then this is what i can do lol :tokin:

I do wonder if the bloom side of it isn't a bit thin.
I use the DynaGro line (2part) tho and they're different.
Really tho... you can easily boost that for a plant that wants more. Seems like a good baseline.

Ya it was a feed schedule i found that was claiming less is more and i agree with it..........to a smallish degree lol. I just figured if anything i could tweak it if need be but i wanna it through once to see what its weakness is first ya know lol. So far my girls look alot better but im still waiting to see if the will start yellowing fast like with the higher nute schedule. I actually noticed something interesting about this lower dose nutes, for one it actually didn't need to have ph up or down it showed 5.6 and it stays stable. Usually with the higher nute stuff i would have to correct it each watering day but this lower dose stuff is stable and doesnt need adjusting. Just thought that was odd.

Sounds like a good thing to...at least your seeming to get a handle on it all. I never really tried growing with straight perlite but I have used soiless (Pro-mix) and I never really had any problems with PH, or lock-outs or what have ya. If I did notice a problem I usually just gave it a decent flush with regular tap water and then after drying out for a couple of days I would continue feeding at half dose, and after a week get back up to regular dose. I also used Botanicare. But honestly, they are all probably pretty close to being the same as far as base nutes. All the other stuff we add is when it tends to get complicated. Anywho, keep up the good fight my brother. Your doing fine!:thumb:

Ya i had grown in a peat moss based soilless mix prior to going hempy and its a little different but not super different :tokin: i got the ph thing down now a days thanks to tead now im working on getting the feed right and i think im on the right track. Its a journey thats for sure :tokin:

Well things have been smooth so far lately. I will be starting training on the new sour d mother, its been weird having only her in the veg chamber :tokin:

The girls in flowering are doing well its still early but i have a good feeling about them. Their coloring looks off in these pictures cause of the led (i even questioned it and checked with normal light lol) they are a nice green and progressing nicely.

Hey Lex, finally caught up. A good read foresure. A little tip I learned for cloning!! Seems to work for me on most strains I've played with. Give them a drink of PHd water 30mins before taking your clips. You will get less/no droop at all and near 100% success every time. As long as the rest of the cloning process is monitored. Subb'd. Peace!!

Glad you enjoyed the read and welcome :tokin: ill have to keep that in mind next time i take clones I haven't really had failed cuttings but i do get a droop every once in awhile lol.

I keep expecting your grow box to lift off and fly into space.

Haha to quote Han Solo
(She'll make point five past lightspeed. She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts, kid. I've made a lot of special modifications myself. )

Haha! I just seen a big stars wars/empire strimes back thing on cable. Good stuff Maynard!

:tokin: doesn't get much better then the original trilogy lol. i have been rereading the Darth Bane trilogy probably my favorite star wars book set.

For the record.... a Maynard Krebs/Dobie Gillis/Bob Denver reference.
Noted for it rarity.
We'll not be discussing how we both know that... but personally, I'm shopping for a walking stick with a built-in bowl.

I was honestly surprised to see that reference lol
