The Girl Who Drank The Moon

Thanks for the kind words! @RETRIX

I buy ladybugs from hirts garden(s)! Comes with a nectar like powder to mix with water in hopes to keep ladybugs around awhile. Pretty cheap too considering they can potentially save a large crop, or at least get it to harvest! :yummy:

Howdy mr.Retrix I believe my good friends mr.Bilbo and mr.Magoo are here hope you don't mind if I join them....

No problem at all Smeegol. Everyone is welcome.

Yes because I feel that I am going to need them as my soil is currently infected with fungus gnats. I'm going to need to eradicate them before I start this grow. I have been thinking about using nematodes.

I've also used approximately 10 million of those, I went with the SF variety! Ordered them off the zon...also very cheap considering!

Only other thing I'd recommend is getting a fan that blows straight onto the soil! Also, maybe mulch it realllllly good, with some dry mulch (barley straw or the like)! Between the three of them, I've no doubt you'll get them under control!

I had an infestation like a person wouldnt believe last round but I RARELY see one flying around now! Feels pretty good being almost maintenance free :passitleft:

So the nematodes worked for you laquer? I was skeptical reading all of the reviews on Amazon but was going to try it anyway.

Thanks for the tips. I'm going to look for some straw.

as @InTheShed suggested, diatomaceous earth (i think i spelled that right lol) on top of the soil should work wonders on fungus gnats... I also used those yellow sticky pads last year and they worked out fairly well, i stupidly brought my rosemary plant inside for the winter without thinking, soon as the soil warmed up they went bonkers.

also with regards to straw, they charge a stupid amount at the stores ($5-10) for tiny ass decorative bales.... Go for a drive in the country and find a local farmer... I can get a full bale for $3. But if you just need a little for the top of your pots theyd likely give you a few handfuls in a bucket without batting an eye.

I forgot about the yellow sticky cards! They work wonders too.. I've never used DE, but lots have with good success!

The nematodes. Hard to say really whether they were the ones that did them in - or if they even worked. I used so many different things lol. I was also skeptical. But it definitely cant hurt, and its a good preventative measure against other soil dwelling pests like root aphids (if they work)!

Hello RETRIX, mind if I stick around for this? I brought the cheesy poofs.
I am trying a LOS grow right now so really interested in this. Let me just get caught up to everyone LOL. :rollit: Thats better.

Hey Nick. I can't get enough of cheese poofs so thank you. LOL :drool:

When I was a kid we used to have bales upon bales of hay and straw for the cows and pigs. My Dad would feed them the hay, and use the straw for them to shit in so he could make manure for his soybeans. LOL Now that I live in the city straw is hard to come by. I still have a few things to take care of before I start so I may get some
diatomaceous earth and sprinkle it over the dirt while it's still in the tub to kill them before I even bring it in the house.

I think that with the D.E. the nematodes and peroxide, I may win this war too. lol
