The Deep Water Culture Home

I'll start growing them around the end of Sept. Current veggers come upstairs to flower then and the Red Dragon are next. Tentative plan is to start 2 - Mazari, 2 - Jack Herer, 2 - Red Dragon and the 3 auto's in veg for harvest cycle after next. I think I made myself dizzy just explaining that! It was either that or the bong hit! LOL!

Healthy salad, a glass of wine and a bong hit for dessert! My nutritional needs are now met!

You growers are the ONLY one's I talk to about my grow! Even my patients don't ask questions. I don't sell, they are gifts! Everyone else thinks I have a good supplier! Most favored nation status if you will. I give samples only when I smoke with. I get invited over a lot! LOL!

You can visit anytime you want MC.
A friend with Weed is a friend indeed. :rasta:

I have a question about humidity with Deep Water Culture.

I live in Southwest Colorado, and even during the rainy season, the humidity level is very low. On average, if it gets much above about 20%, that is considered high.

Since I run my vent fan 24 hours a day, I don't see how I could get it much higher.

Does growing with Deep Water Culture allow my to have a lower level in my room, since I have a 10gal.+ res.? Or should I add a cool mist humidifier and put my fan on a timer?

I'm in CO as well, and Right now the humidity in my grow area is 30% and that's cause I have my air wands bubbling in ph balanced water. (I was given a tip to do that to allow all the extra grit that's on them to fall off). I'll have 2 DWC's going in that area, and was wondering the same thing.

You want your humidity as high as you can get it. Humidifier is one way. So are putting wet towels around the res. I like to mist them with ph'd water or ph'd water with a little Super Thrive in it. If you can visit your growroom several times a day that does a good job of keeping the local humidity in a good range or at least the plants get the benefit from mistng. The purpose of humidity when they are young is to open the leaf surface so it can breath. If they can breath they can process nutes better.

Just do the best you can. You're growing weeds! This is in the nice to have and not have to have catagory. Things just happen slower with lower humidity. Good news is that come flower that low humidity it going to help coat those buds with lots of trichs. It's sort of the plants defensive reaction to lower humidity while flowering.

Many people would give their left arm to have humidity that low ;)

You do want the humidity high during veg but as low as possible during the flowering stage. Generally, it's easier to add humidity then remove it.

Also - it's worse to have high humidity during flowering than low humidity during vegetation. High humidity during flowering = high chance of bud rot.

Just an opinion ;)

My grow area has the hot water heater closet with the venting going out to the roof. I think the hot water heater increases the humidity slightly. Because Durango, made a pretty good point about having low RH, usually it doesn't get out of the teens or 20 % unless it rains. I'll just keep a bucket halfway filled with water in my grow area, and if I need more humidity, I can do the wet towel thing with my additional buckets.

Thanks so much for answering Soniq and MC!

ohh do i wish for low humidity, at night were 80 to 90% and during the day it never gets below 60%. yup fighting bud rot, gdp can not handle the humidity in full flower and harvested one plant a few weeks ago and last outdoor gdp is just starting to show a little bud rot so she is getting pulled today. the big bagseed i have out side is not ready and just showing a little rot on 1 bud, so cutting that bud today and we will wait and see how she does. 3 big calif skunk plants just started flowering this week and 4 trainwreak/gdp have not started flowering yet.

It's not all that it's cracked up to be. You go through moisturizer like water. Even guys! It's that dry! If you don't you'll end up looking like an alligator.
That's NOT attractive at all! LOL

We are having our monsoons, which means afternoon thunderstorms every day. But they are turning into thunderstorms at 2, 4,7pm and sometimes ALL NIGHT LONG too. You know when you have too much rain when it floods at 9000 ft above sea level...

Have you tried sticking bags of rice in your grow room? Ages ago, I played violin, and violins are made with water soluble glue so they can be taken apart, fixed, new sound pegs etc. Anyway, it got REALLY humid at camp one year and my violin literally fell apart. I was told by the repairman to keep a bag of rice in my case. Never had that problem again. It might work for your grow area, it'll absorb extra moisture, and it's cheap! Get the el cheapo stuff in a plastic bag, and punch a bunch of holes in it with toothpick. Check it daily for weight, moisture or mold. Hope this helps!

indoors i can regulate, these are outdoor plants and i have been running a fan on them but not much u can do outdoors

Ahh gotcha! I can't grow outdoors because of the altitude where I live. Mainly the hailstorms, the hurricane strength winds, and a very short growing season. (This year we had snow until the end of May and we got our first snow in the second week in September!) I am also 2000 feet below treeline, and trees grow very very slowly at this altitude, and most hardwoods (aspen excluded) won't grow up here. So no trees, no camoflage... LOL. I'm legal, but I don't want nosy neighbors, police, theives in my grow if you know what I mean.

Plus I can do year round grows indoors. My setup is relatively small, and is in a container on wheels if I need to move it.

the rice trick is also useful for drying out some closedface electronics,(cellphones, remotes, ect.)

Hey guys,
Sorry to interrupt but I just got some muriatic acid to clean my Micro-Pore air diffuser. The problem is I have no idea what to do next. Can anyone help?
