The Deep Water Culture Home

Right on man. I have a slightly bigger room for my grow, so I rock the bigger 200w and 250w bulbs in normal batwing style reflectors. But I also use tons of the 40w's for light too. Keep it spread out!

I love seeing more stealthy operations too. I have seen some pretty trick ideas go into smaller cabinets and net some killer results. Look forward to seeing what you come up with! One guy I know runs a small cabinet, uses a cut to fit peice of glass between the bulbs and the canopy top. Then in the "upper" section for lights, he has intake and exhaust holes and small fans to keep air flowing. This has let him basically touch the plants with the glass heat shield. Simple, but it works.

Oh thanx for the info. Thats my veg area to keep some lil one going well my main rooms are going. That lil set up is perfect for help establishing rootsystem in clones. then onto the Big flowering room. That consist of 1k and 4oo both hps. I've run SOG for years and years. So the cfl's are perfect to get them started. Esspecially w/ the bubbles those roots go (((CRAZY))). My clones max out at 6 inches prior to going into flower. And I tell you what back in the day when I first started this lil area. I saw a major difference in using the Deep Water Culture as a source of veg for my system. I get no less then an inch a day once in the main area. And I gotta attribute this not only to lighting and nutes. But to Those lil dancing bubbles. My root growth is insane cause of em. I'm harvesting in the next week the last of an experiment involving the DWC. I was able to grow 12 4 foot plants in that same lil area we just spoke of using DWC. And my Pvc that they are now in are is 4 inch and I got roots from top to bottom and end to end. I'll post picts of the roots harvested in my journal next week when I pull. Thanx for all the support and postitive vibes .:ganjamon:

Just got back from the store

First off I would like to say that I feel spoiled to have multiple pet stores, a home depot, and hydro store within a short distance from me...not to mention multiple cannabis clubs with a large variety of clones nearby. Can anyone else relate?

So here are my purchases. I noticed only the 60 gallon air pumps and up had the dual outlets so I got this one for $17. They had the tetra whisper one I heard mentioned for $10 more. Is it worth it? should I make the exchange and get that one instead?

Also got 2 6" stones, some tubing, and a water thermometer.

I noticed these other products at pet store. One seems to make the tap water better, there were many similar products too. Is this beneficial? The other thing is a water pump/filler. I was thinking maybe this will make it east to drain and fill tub....Its like $45 though.

Any and All advice is very much appreciated! :yummy:

Blitty D looks like you are ready to rock!

You have lighting yet? A way to hang the lights and adjust as the plant grows?

Nutes?

The whisper pumps are nice, as they are super quiet. Haven't used the air pump you are showing, but I am sure it'll be fine. How much air is it pushing, does it say?

I bought a water syphon just like that. Ended up taking the syphon part off, just using the plastic tube. My res is up on a table, so I just bring a bucket in, place it on the floor and take a "puff". Just a tiny one to get started. Seemed to just be easier then shaking the syphon mechanism once the plants got big and full of buds.

Never used water conditioner before, so I really can't comment. Not sure if you would need it. Guess it depends on what water you are using. Plants actually use a small amount of chlorine, so I don't know. Plants use chlorine as chloride ion. Chloride is useful as a charge balancing ion and for turgor regulation, keeping plant cells more free of infection by disease organisms. It is essential for photosynthesis.

Currently I have a 1000wt hortilux (same one as in my current journal). Im considering using CFL's instead to cut down on electric bill and heat. I also have the yo yo hangers.

That new airpump says it is pushing 60 gph. My SH bubble tank will be on the floor. What is best way to siphon/change water that way?

No drain on it right? If that's the case Roseman's way is to disconect the irrigation hub and down hose and either use 1/2" tubing or connect a slightly larger tube and use your hand as kind fo the coupler between the pump in the res and the tubing. You'll get all the res water except about a gallon and he adds to that. There are also syphon pump available. Some have a crank and some have a squeeze bulb.

No, no drain. Now that you bring it up, I do recall Roseman saying that. Thats a relief I would rather not pump any more money into this thing (no pun intended). I still have a good amount of FF nutes left from previous grow. Should those be ok or do I want to avoid the organics?

Gotta figure out WHY!

Is the water pump still in the tank? If YES..... does the filter need cleaning, or is it time to take the Water pump out?

Are the air stones slimey and snotty? Is it time to clean or replace them?

What airstones do you have and use?

Can you get some 3% peroxide and use 2 table spoons per gallon of water?

Please give us an update soon.

yea my pump is in the tank. but i was thinking of taking it out soon. ive got alot of roots. my airstones are clean. i clean them every res change. yea i can do the peroxide thing. should i do it next res change which is sunday? should i still add the same nutes, same ph?

looks good man. Have you look at amber-cloudy trich ratio?

Yeah it really was ready last week been in bud for about 9-10 weeks now, the trichomes were mostly cloudy with a good part of them amber should be in the zone for a good hermi/indca it's just a real butafucco bummer it turned out a hermi, the other white rhino though seedy was real good alos! and that one was harvested 2 to 3 weeks early, the collective I belong to an donated that one to, really liked it also! like I said that one was harvested early, but hay it is what it is!

Guess it was 40/60

awesome man.. I cant wait to here a smoke report

yah just dont even plan on smokin em for a month. that helps.. you can try smaller nugs after 2.5-3 weeks after dried though

I know takes a while! cool thing is! if I can't wait! I can always trade some of it off wet or dry to my collective for something smoke able, nice yeah!:ganjamon:

Organics are tough in hydro. With organics so much depends on the microbial balance and you'll find that things change quicker in hydro and things can get out of whack.

From what I've heard from you, you may be able to pull it off but it will be tougher. I use Gh Flora series which is pretty basic but good. Plants need
N-P-K and that's it for a good harvest as long as the enviroment is right. The rest just depends.
