I did expect to lose half, but didn't know they would be first. When you grow regular seeds you hafta expect at least 50% males and they are always the first to drop their underwear and give you a smile. But at least your freebie lights have arrived.
Just to prepare yourself, check the stipules (the green hairs at the nodes) and see if others also have them crossed. If so, expect them to be male as well. If they look more like an 11 or pi symbol, expect them to be female.

That, I did not know. Thank you, I will be looking closely there.
Definitely not knocking it brother, as long as it works for you that's all that matters. I'm just thinking about all the time we put into these plants before we even know if they are female. That's why I said it's not 100%, Leo and I certainly wouldn't suggest ripping up those with crossed stipules before the balls drop. I always planted way more seeds than I wanted so it was no loss for me growing outdoors to rip 'em out young. I guess I should have added that I was only suggesting he keeps an eye on those with crossed stipules.
I read others saying it the other way around... that crossed stipules are more likely female & straight, leafier stipules are likely male. I gave up staring at the stipules because they began looking all the same!Just to prepare yourself, check the stipules (the green hairs at the nodes) and see if others also have them crossed. That's an interesting thought~ I've read where you can make feminized seeds using colloidal silver... is that what you're referring to?lights on,
so, question, I know someones journal mentioned a thread about things that influence sex.
Are there things done at germination, seedling, veg, and transition stages that would influence gender?
Things that would cause a greater than normal number of males?
