I think I'm gonna do some reading on the uv light and sexing, you may have found tyre culprit!

I will get some cfl's tomorrow, and get beans n water as well. thinking 4 beans? dont want to go through a ton of nutes until i know they are girls.

What kind of soil are you using? Most commercial stuff like ff don't need nutes for up to 4 weeks after planting, you could try to grab a clone 4 weeks in and sex it, at least that would keep you from using too much of your resources on this.

I've popped 6 and had 4 males heat has more to do with it than anything at germination to much heat and you get more males to cold and they won't germinate or so I've been told.
The same group of seeds had 9 females and only 1 male they are seeds I bred so I don't know.
I've been growing with LED for two years and haven't had a hermie or unusual amount of males.

Hey BS... sorry about all the bawlz~ when you get cfls, I was told to get the 6500k range for more blue spectrum~ good luck buddy~ hope you're feeling better~

there are some roots on a couple of the clones, and the one I thought was gonna die, turned a bright shade of green this morning.
sadly, it's the B1 clones, and i think B1 is a boy. will let the pods develop a bit more to be certain.
no real development on the others yet. I will be getting some CFLs today, and maybe drop 4 seeds into water tonight.

tell ya what,,, if these all end up being dudes, and then the 4 under cfl's end up being all girls,,,,
It would be very compelling evidence of UV effects on germination/seedlings and sex.
still hoping to get a couple of girls out of this batch though...

I'm pretty invested in this experiment man, i tried finding anything about uv light and sexing online to no avail. But the best kind of evidence is the kind you get in your own experiments! Looking forward to seeing how this goes.

lights on in a few minutes.
bought 4 clip lights, 4 "y" splitters, and 2 4-packs of 23w cfl's
dropped 4 beans in water

It's always possible that the seeds are from a hermaphrodite that self pollinated. I have never had any joy with hermie seeds. You would be well advised to bite the bullet and buy some decent seeds. They are not that expensive and a reputable company will provide quality seeds.

thanks greengo, I am afraid you are correct. I have been looking at seeds, but OMFG, so many, and some are expensive as fuck. but so many strains to choose from, makes my head spin

I know what you mean, some really are super pricey, but quality buds need not be. Why not check out some completed journals and see what takes your fancy or have a look in the strain review?
The first and only seeds I've bought were the White Widow X Big Bud and even though they're not ready yet, they look awesome and should be a great smoke and weren't expensive at all.

I have some seeds from stuff I grew before,, one hermied in the room, and several had a few seeds. i was going to run them after i got this dialed in, since i knew they would be good. but, they would be from at least one hermie parent, so maybe I just get some,, lol

And I bet you didn't keep the seeds from the hermie separate from those pollinated by it, right? Those pollinated by the hermie should be feminised seeds, whereas those from the hermie itself ...

Well I did kind of separate them from what they came off of. But that was 8 yrs ago and I did not write which one was the hermie. Lol.
