The 4x4 Grow Tent Club

This is whats up in my 4 x 4

Today is day 56/week 8 of flower.

Have decided to harvest the 4 x pheno #1 plants next Sunday/Monday day 62/63. Will harvest one on Sunday because my G/F is here on the weekends only and wants to help with the harvest.
Anyway they are doing very well, no problems to report, I love it when that happens.

But today I harvested the #3 pheno that has been a problem child from day one. Always lagged behind, never a strong root developer, smaller and lighter producer. She was the worse damaged by the stretch problem I had. But, she smells sweet, very tight buds no larf at all and good tight groupings.

She has less than 30% of the mass of the 4 pheno #1's so I don't expect a lot of weight out of her, but expect a wonderful product. An as a hobbyist that is all I want. Good buds make good medicine.

Looks good. I finally figured out this stuff kinda. Lol. I'm old school as I don't like computers but apps on my phone are my best friend sometimes. Haha. Anyway I'll post a couple pics of a little bit of randomness. A couple pics from my last grow before the app screwed up and the early start to this summers grows. Gonna be vegging em outdoors and pulling them in to my flower tent and possibly a breeding tent if I feel up to spending the time and money to make the seeds. Guess it'll depend if I get my hands on 1 of 2 seeds before my chunky diesel is ready for flower. Anyway as I said before I upgraded everything between this and last grow. I look forward to what my summer will bring. The 2 pics with the smart pots and tiny plants are a week old. Also have some of the kids early mother's day flower bed in the smaller pots in the 1 picture. Multi tasking in that tent of paradise lol. One I posted is of the roots holding together 5 gallons of dry dirt at the end of last grow. Idk if that's common but I was pretty proud of that.. haha. Hopefully everyone has a good Easter.

Okay, so here is a progression of the weekly flower pictures of the BF LSD that just finished in my 4 x 4.
I started flower 1/29/18 and harvested on day 63, 4/2/18. The two extra plants in the tent went to my buddies at the PTSD group I work with.

Week 1 Start stretch.

Week 2 Bud starting to form. Spread them out some.

Week 3 Was not able to defo day, did it the next day. Spread them again.

Week 4 Buds taking shape, got another 3 inches of stretch this week.

Week 5 Removed additional fan leaves, Spread the out some.

Week 6 Did not get home in time to take pics this was the next morning. Re positioned some of the buds. That Thursday I added the SS400 LED in flower mode with the two UV lamp on also.

Week 7 Can see a new burst of pistils, guessing it's the addition of the LED to the mix. The buds are really beginning to thicken and they are tight.

Week 8 Started flush 10 days prior to harvest, ran the rez's down very low and started adding straight RO water for the next 8 days. On the Friday prior to harvest they received their last watering and they were allowed to dry completely before harvest.

Week 9 Time to harvest, the rest are all Pheno #1. This was actually taken on 5 days before harvest but it was the last group pic I had. Was so ready to chop I did not take a group pic on harvest day.

The buds are on the last day or next to the last day of drying, will go into jars tomorrow or Monday for the cure.
Smoke report soon.

Now all my energy is going into the LSD Pheno #5 Monster Crop. Journal in my Signature. It's going to be interesting.

So I finally took a shot at bending the branches. I topped them then started to bend. Came out last night and 1 was split completely down the middle. Thought for sure she was going to die. Check them today and she's looking great. Still split but looks as if it's just going to grow a nice knuckle there now. Have also been experimenting with some fox farm grow big and some other veg nutes from a buddy but honestly can't remember the name. Still burnt some starting out at half of the recommended dose. Cut it down to 1/4 and seems to do ok. Gonna cut it down a little bit more next feeding then start to work my way back up. I'll keep everyone posted over the next 3 months.

She's laying almost flat at about 6 inches tall but almost a footand a half wide

The one to the right was a random seed that got mixed up. I ended up with about 30 seeds that could be 1 of about 10 different strains. Won't know till closer to harvest what she is. But she looks like she's going to be a bush.

Just a quick shot from today. There's alot going on in there but in the next 2 or 3 weeks this tent will get cleared out and 4 left in to go into flower under full spectrum leds.

Biggest reason I don't want to use a timer is because any that can run on 1 minute intervals are more expense than I really want right now,

I've seen articles that showed how to use a Raspberry Pi as a "whatever you want, as many times as you want" AC timer. Through a simple relay, of course.

I'm sure a person could do the same thing with an Arduino - but the Rπ would fit in with your avatar graphic.

Oh that does sound interesting, I haven't done much messing around with Raspberry yet. Wanna PM me the details?

I just bought, have not hooked it up yet but the AutoPilot, I think it's by HydroFarm. It has a second timer built into it. I am not sure how good it will work but it was like $14 on amazon. It is dual outlet also.

With this grow I am not going to need seconds as I am giving them about 7 gallon per cycle, every 36 hours.

Don't want others finding out how to do it, lol?

Details are actually pretty simple: One day, I got bored - so I typed
Code:
Raspberry Pi 120VAC timer
into an Internet search box. It was probably DuckDuckGo. Or Qwant. It definitely wasn't Google.

Happy 420 everyone. To celebrate I've spent my day hitting up dispensaries and enjoying my warm sunny day in Michigan.. I pulled the plants outside to flush them to put them into flower today.. been a very productive day..

Yes yes. Ive just done a 420 flip also but thats in my little tent. This a 4x4 thread so wanna see whats in mine? Ima show ya anyway.

I got gypsy haze from eva seeds. Lemon skunk from greenhouse and critical from royal queen in there.
Ive been tinkering with @Asesino85 quadline. Ive chucked a scrog on also just to maximize surface area and partly laziness cos the gypsy haze is a bitch to train lol. If I didnt put it up now Id have to start pinning all the middle shoots with stakes and I just dont have the time.
Got 600w of hps in there at the minute but Im gonna be chucking another 600 in there come mid flower when the stretch has stopped but its on a switchable ballast so if its to much ill just notch it down. What do you all think? Is 1200 too much in a 4x4? I can keep the temps under control. Ive only got a 6inch outlet fan at the minute(a very good one though) the outside temps are up at like 22-25c already but my tents still only running about 21 if the thermometer is like half way up the tent. I got a 4inch fan I can use as an inlet if need be when I put on the other light and a spare 4inch I can put inside the tent aswell so everything should be peachy.

Lot's going on in the ol' 4 x 4 these days. A Monster Crop, (clone taken during flower and re-vegged).

Stop by my journal, take a look and offer relevant suggestions. This is totally new to this ol' guy.

Man I feel like mine are babies compared to y'all's. Haha. I'm a little over a week into flower and working like crazy to try and keep em tied down. Lol I ended up having to keep the 5th plant in there but hey I'll run with it. Now I'm going to wait till the stretching is done then I'll trim some leaves back. I'm also going to but cutting 1 plant so it's only the biggest main branches cause I wanna see what happens and if I end up with a couple oz size buds.

Threw this 1 in here cause I just wanted to show my love. She likes when I hold her hand.. lol

I would remove some of those big fans now, as long as there is enough growth at that node, remove it. May be a little late at one week, but I would do it.

Do it over about two days as to not shock them much.

Those are some heavy Indicas bud, looking good.

Much appreciated. I started to last night I'll do a little more tonight and a little more tomorrow night. I usually wait till the stretching is over to start remove the big ones. But yours look way better then mine so I'm going to take your advice.the next flower I'lll start soon as I put em in flower. Or should I do it during veg? I always have plenty of growth at the nodes.

I normally trim the week prior to going into flower, then only remove fans with 1" plus stems until day 21 then do a fairly heavy trim. After that I only remove fans that are blocking bud sites.
This has worked well for me, I know that defoliation is a hot topic on these grow forums.
You will be amazed at how fast they recover when done slowly over a period of days.
Good luck will be keeping an eye on your grow to see how it goes.

Thanks for the info. I started to a little tonight and will do a little at a time over the next 2 or 3 days. I have some in veg already that I've started topping and training. They started a couple weeks after these that's in flower. Vegging outside has been very nice for them. I'm going to keep a couple through the whole grow outside as well. But my question is should I be trimming off the big fan leaves on them little at a time or should I wait till closer to flower. I already cut a couple from each plant because they was twice the size of my hand and blocking alot.

Ok everyone just posting a quick update. I followed your tip gr865 and trimmed some of the fan leaves over the past few days. They loved it. I discovered one of them growing balls so I got it out asap. Didn't affect the other 4. I also am going to step up to 10 gallon pots my next grow. Here's a few pics. But before I post them I was wondering if anyone has any experience growing outdoors? I have 5 out there that was started inside till it got warm enough and long enough days. Now it seems like my plants are stretching. They have been topped twice before putting them out.. I'll post pictures of them as well. I have about a good 6 to 8 inches between nodes on my branches.

I have not posted here in a while. So I figured I'd make a post of my latest 4x4 grow.
I upgraded the lights to two 315W CHM lights. And it really seems like a major upgraded so far.
These ultraviolence gems all cam from the clones I took in this thread.
Clones in 3x3

Four in the 4x4

The rest of them catching some rays this morning.
