The 4x4 Grow Tent Club

Yeah it comes off easily can I just take it off and smoke the rest ? Kinda nervous and don't know why I didn't think of this before

I'm sure some will say to throw it all away. But you can just cut off the affected bad parts and smoke what's left. That's what I do. I usually grow outdoors and there is always a little mold in the fall.those warm humid days can really allow the mold to run wild.

To help control the mold. I usually spray the plants with neem oil and then start cutting off the infected parts of the buds . The neem oil helps keep the mold spores from blowing off the infected buds and landing on other buds while cutting the infected parts off. And it also kills the mold as well.

I wouldn't recommend Neem oil this late in the game. It'll be hell to get that smell and taste out of the buds. My first instinct is to chop yesterday. The other alternative that some have had good results with is to spot spray with an alcohol like Everclear. Don't use a denatured alcohol as it contains petroleum distillates as the denaturing agent. Or you could harvest the blighted buds and start treating the rest while they mature. Good luck! Sorry you're having to experience this.

edit: There's no way to truly stop it or reverse it at this stage. Just cut your losses and chop now. Keep the affected buds separated from those not showing signs. And peel open a bud (away from unaffected plants) to see inside. I'm going to bet that you have mold inside the buds.

Quick update.. today is day 35 of flower and my babies are looking pretty to me.. 3 more weeks to go.. the full spectrum panels are definitely showing that they bring out the color in the buds and them buds definitely look prettier then the others..

Hey everyone. I'm looking for a little advice today. It weems that a lot of you have been growing in 4x4 tents for a long time now and have mastered the growing space. These plants have been in veg for 9 weeks now. I was going to start flowering tomorrow but I'm thinking of waiting one more week or two to maximize the bud size. I currently have over 100 tops on these two plants, but I want them to be as long and thick as possible. My tent is a 4x4 and 6.5' high. They don't even take up half the height yet. The node spacing seems to be pretty good, so I'm thinking if I let it go for another week or maybe even two weeks, I can get a few more nodes on each top before putting it in to flower. I've never grown in a 4x4 tent. My other tent is only a 3x3. There is so much more room in this one, I would hate to waste the space.

What do you think?

To start, very nice healthy looking plants in there HayStacks, if you're a patient individual as it sounds, I'd let them girls fill up that SCROG until you are satisfied. Never enough nodes you know!

Im on day 30 of flower and here are my girls, they also were in Veg for 10 weeks and I use a SCROG as well

Yours look great. Maybe 10 weeks is the magic number. I'm done with the training. I just think another week will let all the tops get at least a couple inches longer with a few more nodes. And I'm pretty sure in will increase the yield substantially. My goal is to get a pound off of these two. I don't think I'll get that just yet.

Man I really gotta step my game up lol. Both of your plants look great. I only let mine veg for 8 weeks and had to be moved in the middle of winter in 10 degree weather. I'm going to go for 10 possibly 11 weeks next time.

Mine ain't near a good as MassGrows. I'm gonna go with four plants next go round. That way each plant will have a 2x2 space to grow. I'm already starting to take cuttings .

Just jared up the last two plants, #1 & 2, and opened the other jars to let them breath/burp. While in there I pull this little jewel out to sample, from plant #4, and the group of them in there jars.

This is what I pull the sample from, I remove each bud off the branch when I jar.

The plant in the foreground is also a BF LSD but it comes from my buddies grow, I am working with him in his quest to grow his own meds.
This is one I just got back from him, he is not use to coco, has been growing in soil this round. So mag def is a prob here, working on it. Going to put it in the veg cab for a bit.

I also had a bit of a mag issue, I was so wrapped up in the vertical grow I kind of was undecided if I wanted to do these clones, so they got neglected. Spent way to long in the solos not getting proper waterings and care. My BAD!
Well it is what it is! At least I know the quality is very good, so what I get out of this grow will just be a bonus to the vert grow.

I do have this little lady under the veg light.

A little history for her. I took three clones off of LSD #5 at about 32 days into flower, put them in Root Riot cubes and into my little cloner/seed starter. They took forever to begin rooting, almost 4 weeks for one to show a root out of the cube. I went ahead an planted them into coco solo's, they were in them for two plus weeks when I began noticing that two had begun wilting, so I took the third and put it in a 3/4 gallon plastic pot. The dusty redness is coco from transplant, was rushed and did a sloppy job. The roots on this plant were much more prominent but not as much as I prefer. It is in coco now but once it takes off I am either going to take it to a friend upstate who grows DWC and let him Monster Crop it, or once it roots enough and begins decent growth I may repot into lite Super Soil/Coco into a 15 - 25 gallon smart pot. Veg (Monster Crop) it out for 10 to 15 weeks and put it into flower.

All kinds of thoughts bussing through this very stoned mind at present. What do y'all think? How about a one plant grow, Monster Cropped and grow horizontal, low but not SCrogged, LST to flatten. Another thought, build a 30" carousel w/drip irrig and grown in the same manner as above.

I have time to do the research on this, could be a lot of fun and would give me an early start on my fall grow.

Man your speaking a different language to me lol. I hear alot about coco is it really that much better then soil? I just picked up a net to do a sog in my 4x4. I'm gonna throw 25 outside soon as weather permits and pull 3 or 4 at a time to throw in my 4x4 for flower. I'll leave a few outdoors all the way to harvest. It will be my 1st grow outside. I'll put the ones I'm leaving outdoors into 20 gallon smart pots and all the rest will be in 5 gallon smart pots. I know I'm excited to do the sea of green. Any tips on proper ways to bend them over as they come through the net?

Hey gr865, so I ended up getting some water systems setup. I got the manifold that you said you didn't like, 'cause they were cheap and I couldn't figure out how you made that big one. I'm still not really sure what you mean by the drainage though and what the problem was with them? They seem to be working pretty good so far but I hope I'm just not like, oblivious to the problem you were having? Anyway, thanks for the help!

I got some different riser parts and pumps going on between the two of them though. The one I put together today has a stiff PVC pipe riser and a 172 GPH pump, but it's a little strong to run for much more than 1-2 minutes at a time. The other one has a 80 GPH pump, and a 3/8" acryllyc hose as a riser, and it runs for more like 6-7 minutes. Both are times until run-off is seen. I still need to get some 7-day timers to put them up on a timing schedule, because I think daily waterings will be way too much unless I put some of those 1-2 GPH pressure drip emitters on and I think you were saying those didn't work too great if I remember correctly. For now I'm just running it manually plugging them in and calling it "assisted watering".

I like that you build the distribution ring hope it works well for you. I am sure it will, I think if I had used the dist. rings instead of drippers that would have worked for me. You may want to do a couple of things, removing the rez from the tent will keep the temps in the rez lower. You do not want to irrigate with hot/warm water, can cause some problems. Secondly, on your distribution ring, you may want to put a quick disconnect where you have the tee come off the ring. Note in this pic the to lines with the white connectors are quick disconnects. This allow you to remove the lines and take the plants out of the tent to work on them. Also, see the cutoff valve for each line that, when you unhook the QC connector you don't want bleed the solution that is in your line. The black 3/4 inch circle manifold sitting on top of the fan has worked very well for me. I have moved it to the floor off the fan, because it was pointed out to me that if it leaked the spray created by the fan could hit the light in a vertical grow.

Thanks for the tips again! I'll have to find those quick dis-connectors they look useful for sure.

So would 70-80 F degree water be bad for them then? If I move them right outside the tents they'll stay about room temperature, which still isn't much cooler than that.

Got mine from Sustainable Village, this is the page the QC's, Quick Connect Fittings, I use the 1/4". Thecut off valve , can't find that but if you call them, ask about the 1/4" cutoff valve.
Hope this helps.

Update:
So it's been a 9 days since my last post here. Iy seems like they have grown almost a foot in that time. The node spacing seems pretty good too. As long as the buds end up getting big, I think it will be a pretty good grow. It's been in flower for a whole week as well. It's just starting to show some signs of budding, but not too much yet. If they start to really bud up by next weekends, I'll post a few.
