The 4x4 Grow Tent Club

Got them crossed!! I'm right there too...Thanks for the example of plants ready to go!

Mine are not all sexed (been staring at pre-flowers for days because one of the larger plants decided to show female sex loud and clear at about 40 days from seed, I've been waiting to flip hoping they would tell me something good! If too many men I will have to fatten up the ladies...I just said that).

Maybe i'm dragging my feet but based on your canopy I should start thinking about flipping soon...
I've been dragging my feet, too. My girls over two months in veg now. I had some root issues, then a couple trips out of town, and I didn't get my tent or get ready before I bought the clones, lol. Meh, I've had worse stoner problems, lol

Wassup everybody ! Back here looking for advice. Is now a good time to flip these Astrodawgs ? I'm also attempting a scrog but i feel there's way too many growth tips to separate, never thought this would be a problem lol. I plan on taking some to experiment cloning with but do y'all suggest i do some more defol ? Ive been removing lower to promote upper growth but not sure when enough is enough. Do you think they are ready to flower ? - YouTube

Eb n flo in a 3x3 tray w a 20 gal rez, day 1 of 12/12 after a 1.2 month veg. Under a 1000w mh at 75% power for veg and a 1000w hps for flower. The tent will get a bit more crowded till i can weed out the dudes, then hopefully will have enough space.

Pulling the trigger on a 4x4x80"

Sorry trying my first post unsuccessfully! Here it goes again!

Hello helpful and happy growers!

First, thank you all for all the great tips and advice, I've been reading for a while and finally jumped in!! Newbie on my 3rd week flowering (White Walker OG and Blue Mystic) in soil, under a 250hps in a 2x2... trichomes showing up and plants look very happy! Yet, I realize I "need a bigger boat" and was thinking of pulling the trigger on a 4'x4'x80" with two R/W/B dimmable 450w LED's, will be growing in soil from clones (Blue Mystic and Afghan Skunk in a SOG. Wondering if the two 450 LED would be enough light for that space!! Any and all suggestions welcomed and appreciated!

Keep 'em happy!!

I have a 450 Viparspectra and a P300 Advanced Platinum and it's about right for the space. I think the flowering footprint isn't perfect, but its close enough.

Okay so here it is. My little 4x4 tent is finally up and running. This is my first run ever. I am using a Virtual Sun 4x4 tent that I bought off ebay for $100. Great tent. I have a 1000 watt hortilux running. The air is being pulled from the 4" carbon filter through the hood by an exhaust fan hung outside the tent. Stays at 81 sealed been leaving the flaps open to allow neutral pressure. I have a tower fan and then an air mover up top. I am running 3 Guerrilla Glues and 2 Snake Venoms. The ladies are almost finishing week 2 from after transplanting out of solo cups into 5 gal smart pots. Let me know what you think or suggestions.

Unless you have an intake fan you need to leave the lower vents open at all times for air circulation. Are your plants autos or solar? What size is your exhaust fan? 4" is about the minimum for your tent. The small fans that clip onto the tent supports are very useful as well. Are there any LED lights on your tower fan? If so, tape it up (light leak). Looks good :thumb:

I do not have an intake fan currently but I am leaving the flaps open. It stays at 81 with the tent zipped and the flaps open. My exhaust is a 6" fan. No I made sure that my fans had no lights on them before the purchase. Don't need anything interrupting. I was thinking about grabbing a couple of those clip fans but didn't know if they would be overkill.

Hi all,

I have been gone a little bit trying to keep my journal up.

My first grow. Aurora Indica, AK48, Iced Grapefruit.

Quick update day 19 of 12/12.
I actually went with 5x5 tent for more room around for customization, Hydroponics etc. Hope that's OK?
Canopy measures about 13sq ft. Currently.
Had to turn light down to 600w for heat.
Adding Mars 300 tonight for additional light over Aurora Indica and AK#5 it will be right under my scrubber so should suck the heat out enough.

Come check out my grows of you are interested! cheers!

Congrats on the start man! Also on my first grow as well. Running 4 strains in a 4x4 in 5g fabric pots. My 2 cents is that 5 plants ended up being more than I bargained for. So definitely pay attention during veg and don't outgrow your tent. I went for an 8-9 week veg and had to drop one around week 6 or 7 I think.

The space felt even smaller when I had to do any work or watering. The single plant in the middle makes it awkward when you can get all the way in the tent when it's not there. Granted, this is all predicated on managing your veg time. In regards to watering, if I was doing it all over again, I'd get a drain table or some way to raise the plants up to make watering easier.

Thanks Tokes,

Yeah I had originally planned to put my two snake venoms in the same pot but somewhere along the lines I forgot about that plan. I am only going to be running a 5 week veg though. I do like the idea of having the middle spot open though. If I end up pulling one it will be a guerrilla glue coming out. That way the ratio would remain even. I will take clones of these ladies during the last week of veg as I have no plans on using a mother plant. I will look into a tray but something insides tells me to keep them on the ground. Eventually I would like to take watering out of the equation and replace it with reservoir control but that won't be for a looong time.

You shouldn't have any issues with 5 weeks. I got super hung up on making sure I saw pre-flowers on all of them before the flip. I do think that it's shown in terms of vigorous growth during flower.

As for the plants being on the ground, from what I've read it's better to have a buffer between them so the root zone is more temperate than cold. I personally keep mine in plastic trays on the ground. I'm waiting until I can build a drain table to rectify that.

Sounds like we're both on the same page about hydro. After doing soil it would be a lot easier for certain tasks.

Are you going to be using synthetics nutes?

Yes I'm using the following

Humboldt Master A & Master B
GH Root Starter

Figuring out some way to make your watering/draining process streamlined saves a ton of headaches. This is mostly based on my little experience since I'm on my first grow, but I had to do one flushing to raise my pH.

That one flushing with 5 plants, however, was a total circus. I used a piece of pipe through the loops of the fabric pots for a handle, picked up the plant with one arm, and then pulled the full tray and replace it with the new one. Then, maneuvered the tray around and over the pots, all without spilling water.

I went with the Nectar line to hedge my bets against making any newb mistakes while learning to feed. So far it's done right by me, and I have not burnt my plants or seemed to have screwed them up in any way.

First Grow Recap - Doing the Math

4 x 4 tent

2 Northern Lights -

plant 1 - 34 grams of buds - chopped at 93 (57 flowering) days above ground

I'm pretty sure I did this a little early although you wouldn't really know that from the pictures. I also did a lousy job drying. The buds still smell like hay and yes I still burp them daily (29 days curing). RH sits at 60. Should I throw one of the Boveda packs in?. The good news is that when you grind a bud the smell comes back.

plant 2 - 53 grams of buds - chopped at 108 (72 flowering) days above ground. Dried properly inside the tent. Smells lovely (12 days curing). Still need to verify stable RH.

5 Supreme CBD Kush - 129 grams of buds pre-cure

All chopped at 120 (84 flowering) days above ground. These were bud washed and hung for 8 days.

1 1/2 oz per Northern Light and a bit under an ounce for Surpeme CBD Kush.

I have no idea if this is good bad or indifferent. Anyone have an opinion?

It's not a tent but it's 4x4.
My 1st grow gave me 2 oz dry but I started the plants in hydro and it all went to hell so I salvaged the plants after heavy root rot and went to soil.

This time I started straight in soil and will be flowering with more light.

The light here is the Roleadro 300w 2nd generation led full spectrum.

Any suggestions on a good led for this

space that's a good value? This 300E was only $55 on sale on Amazon. I absolutely love it.

I'd have just spent $1.95 at the nearest hardware store for one of those siphon pumps (it's just a plastic tube and plastic hose, with a little squeeze bulb in the middle) that they sell near the kerosene heaters for transferring kerosene from the fuel can to the heater's tank. But I'm not as stout as I used to be and buckets full of wet dirt are heavy. Plus... I'm kind of a klutz, lol, and probably would have spilled the tray, dropped the plant onto its neighbors, or both. Glad you managed it with no trouble, but those little siphon things are quite handy. If you're lucky enough to be emptying something into a container that is lower, it'll self-siphon after you get it started. Otherwise, you have to keep squeezing the "bulb."
