Testing The ViparSpectra XS1000 With VetSmoke85

User error as usual. Lol. I don't like starting plants in final pots. I'm blaming it on that anyway:laugh:. My autos have always been better when I've transplanted them from smaller pots.
I always start my grows with a seedling tray. I uppot 5 times I think lol
I'm still not quite decided on what I prefer. I've had success and failure with both methods. Final pot is slightly easier though so maybe a win.
Hi Professor :)

I feel like I haven’t seen you posting in ages! Hope you’re living your dream.

Final pot would be HEAPS easier. My seeds go from a bassinet, to a cot, to a single bed, to a double bed, then by flip they go into their final queen sized bed.

Talk about making work for myself!

I always uppot photos. Only once or twice though. Far too lazy to do more.

With autos though some people have had issues with stunting from transplanting. I never did. Last couple of runs I've tried starting autos in final containers and they haven't grown as well as my previous attempts. Other factors will have come into play too but I'm sure that's part of it. I'm just crap at getting them going in bigger pots. Lol. Much more comfortable transplanting.

Takes a lot more care to water small plants in bigger pots but it certainly can be done, with more care. :)

The lowers look hungry with a mag def, so bumping the nutes might be the answer. Congrats on the hempy babies!
Yeah there's a knack to it I haven't quite got yet. Also I probably haven't been as precise with my watering as I have before. It's a bit cramped where the tent is now and my knackered knees start hurting so I end up rushing.

I was wondering whether to add a bit of calmag on the next feed. Never really needed it before but have a bottle of the biobizz stuff tucked away.

Im not sure the Pink Grapefruit is gonna make it. She wasn't doing anything so I dug her out carefully and the taproot is only about 10mm but she's opened up with one big green cotyledon and one less mature. I'd have expected that root to be bigger. I've gently placed her back in anyway and will see what happens.

Grabbed a few pics just after lights off this morning. Pretty sure the hempy Pink Grapefruit is a goner. Haven't decided if I'll drop another seed or just go with what I have now.

Just to show Tangerine Dream 2 hiding behind White Widow 2. I think that's as big as she's getting.

Hempy Pineapple Express still looking healthy. Hasn't grown much but fingers crossed roots are starting to fill the cup.

Hey Vetsmoke, I've been reading along and am checking out the Prescription Blend nutes. Did they ever get back with you about the deficiency?
No, but I'll probably send them a message. They must get tagged in so many posts.

I think I've identified a major contributing factor to the deficiency issues. It's embarrassing to admit such a lazy mistake, but we're all here to learn. So I always pH to 6.3 when I make my feeds, but it doesn't all get used and will sit for a few days before being needed again. Here's the dumb dumb move. I don't always check the pH before using it again. In the past with various nutes, in my experience, the pH would only drift up to 6.5 over a few days so it didn't concern me. However, I tested the leftover feed today and it was nearly 7.0 a rise of around 0.7. The batch I made for the hempy plants with just a little Core A & B had only risen from 5.8 to 6.0. I thought maybe the pH down I've been using was a bit old or something, but perhaps not. Anyway, I'll be checking and adjusting any leftovers before pouring it on my poor plants from now on. Lol. DOH!

I'd look elsewhere:

"The pH and EC values
Biobizz products only contain natural organic elements rather than mineral salts such as magnesium or sulfates that you might find in synthetic fertilizers. This gives Light·Mix a medium Electrical Conductivity (EC) value. And while its organic elements are impossible to measure, they do have a self-regulating system, which helps maintain the pH values at the correct level."

Yeah I'd been given the impression not to trust that, especially in small pots. Well at least I can start to eliminate one potential cause. I've also just mixed some calmag with a gallon of water and will be adding the rest of the nutrients in a bit. See if that helps.

There is a pervasive myth that we need to pH nutes in soil, in spite of the companies who make the soil telling us it's not necessary. If Biobizz doesn't mention small pots vs big pots, there's a reason for that.

Of course, it doesn't hurt your plants to pH your nutes!
Totally. When I first started in the cabinet here I didn't pH anything but then started seeing issues that adjusting the pH fixed. So I've kept on doing it.

Just spent the past month moving home. What a barrel load of laughs.

I'd make them sleep on the floor!

As usual I'm thinking about the next grow. I've had the idea this morning of doing a bit of a cookies fest with photoperiods. I have GSC, Wedding Cake & Do-Si-Dos. Want to add one more though. Possibly the Sunset Sherbert from @CoffeeShopSeeds. If anyone has any recommendations for cookies strains I'm all ears.
