Thank you for that van stank. It's makes for a ponderous read. Now I'm knew at all of this. I've only had 1 crop and I barly pulled a few ounce of small nuggs. That was with my viparspectra 300w...

It was a low and flat canopy but it wasn't thick. I mean I Think it could have been a good full bush pulling me more then a few ounce. But that was 1 plant .. this time I'm doing 3.

Budget is my problem. I'm really stretching to afford the 600w viparspectra at £170 on top of that I think I'd need 2 for a shout at doubling what I achieved last time...

I think I'm going to go onto Google now and look at high end leds.

Right now I think my option is to go budget line with viparspec and when I can fully save maybe in a year I can upgrade. If however I can go high end at a cost that is near to my £200 Budget then I'll happily go high end immediately.

It's all a case of cost for me right now.

What did you upgrade to in the end?

Nice work "in the shed"! Grats on the harvest and heading over to check the gummies...
Hey Shed, Now we all think of you when were in the shed working our weed. That's tut a few days ago intheshed drying after her wash.

I went with the Fluence Spydrx Plus.....same light my brother told to me get at the beginning. Runs 1500 USA dollars here at the local grow store.

Completely understand the budget thing and ya gotta work within your means. The Vipars are good entry level lights and serve their purpose well. Be patient and do your research, you will be good mate!

My heat problems are minimal now. I built this shed to accommodate the lighting without getting too hot. But, I could see how it would get real hot in a tent.

That being said.... the results were crazy in comparison. I never knew a dense bud until I grew under these HPS.

My recommendation... LED's are great! Just don't buy cheap. Quantum Board is another route... but expensive.

:passitleft:
The 550v2 perfect for 4x4 tent on sale 20% off I saw the other day . Was over 1000$ for light easy bit on sale for 8 something right now . Think for the month of October .

Qb132s I've been looking at. But they look like you rig them together yourself so I'll have to look into them more but there white led arnt they..

Sounds like your hyped about the hps.. pissed me off. Cause things are never as good as the originals haha. I really think leds are the future.

Keeping hps and ballast setup is like running coal instead of solar

Now that would be cool. Riggin your kit up to solar power
Hey the maddabber has some amazing you tube videos how to assemble maybe look at that on you tube too I think .

Hey there, just wanted to weigh in here. LEDs vs HPS a debate that has raged for a while and will continue as long as the cheaper LEDs are on the market.

I started off not knowing how long I would be growing for (started due to a back injury that I am still dealing with 2 years later) so I didn't want to throw a lot of money at it if it 'wasn't for me'. I bought a Mars LED and Viparspectra, both pulling about 280 watts from the wall so about 560 watts. The coverage was for a 4'x4' tent and worked ok. The first grow yielded about 14 ounces and good quality but I knew I was hooked.

I started planning to upgrade my lighting as my brother (who grows commercially) recommended I do from the get go. I ended up going with a top of the line LED and I can tell you its a game changer. Instead of pulling .7 grams per watt like the couple grows, I am pulling closer to 1.3 grams per watt. I have zero heat issues with my LED and the coverage can't be beat.

Quality LEDS aren't cheap but they are far more efficient than HPS and the technology has come a long way in the last couple years. If you are going to do this long term, my advice for you would be this. Save your money up for a high end LED (take a look at quantum boards as well) and skip buying multiples just to get more watts. Not all watts are created equal. I went from averaging 3 ounces a plant up to 6+ ounces per plant to include pulling a pound off a single Northern Lights plant. I am getting almost 2 pounds out of my 4x4 instead of reaching to try and get a pound. HUGE DIFFERENCE in the buds and overall quality.

If I could go back and do it all over again, I would have listened to my brother and bought the high end LED from the start. Now I know not everyone has money to throw at their grows. It took a while to save up enough for the light but now I have more meds than I had before and I have extra for friends who are happy to compensate me for my efforts. Win win. Just food for thought. You have to find what is going to get you the buds you want WITHIN your budget. I just don't want to see you making a similar mistake to me if its avoidable. Goodluck with your choice.
Listen to this guy and you will be pulling money out of your 401k to buy lights haha

My cheap Chinese LEDs do the job. Could I produce more with better equipment? Absolutely! But I mainly grow for myself, and an ounce lasts me for many months. As it is I have more weed than I know what to do with. I’ve got jars of bud, tincture, butter, oil, brownies, gummies, lotion....I could throw a hell of a party. Lol

My problem is that I have found out that I really enjoy growing this plant, and I miss it when my tent is empty. :yummy:

Hahaha I wish N ounce could last me many moons. Alas I'll smoke an oz in 3 days on my own.

But I can get a zed to last a week. So I need 12 zed minimum to Last 3month

I do use the paper towel.
I soak in water for about 18 hours. If they are floating still, I give them a slight tap and they generally sink. From there I move them to a wet paper towel placed inside a ziplock bag. 24 hours later, I have a tiny tap root, they go into a cup of Jiffy "seed starter" soil mix.

I water with a spray bottle for the first week. Seems to work well for me. I'm around 90% success rate since I started doing it that way.
:passitleft:
I do the same thing except I put them into solo cups full of roots organtic soil

dear lord I would put up a hammock and burn one in said hammock. Bet that smells great!
Funny, out of my 4 or 5 grows this one smells of skunk only even at this stage. It's still intoxicating to the nose but I find it odd there's no hints of other terps that I can perceive. Putting her in jars today. This one's going to be fun to see where it goes taste wise.

I love that shed!! I could hang there comfortably for weeks especially now seeing the office side of things :D

You have a lot going onin there:cool:, seems familiar bro!

Great job P :)

I agree with Van Stank about the LED's I have sometimes thought about upgrading my LED's to commercial style HID but I just keep upgrading my LED's #addictedtoblurple

I totally intend on upgrading.... again, to a high-end LED in the future. My HPS fixtures are a crutch for now. #brokemuhfukka
I'm certain I will not be able to run these during the summertime. They are muh winter lights, I guess. :hmmmm: But I'm sure gonna run the dog-shit outta them while I can.

I think the only thing my shed is missing now, is a little front porch and a rocking chair. LoL
Serenity!
