Made some changes in the shed today...

Started the day with finding a few amber tricomes on the Bubble Gum girl. She started by getting a pre-harvest trim.

I set aside a bunch of the popcorn buds to run a batch of gummies today. Although small, they were dense little knots. Like a big jar of marbles.
:thumb:

After looking everything over with a loupe, I decided to just harvest the whole plant.

Haven't even checked for a wet weight, but my guess would be around 5-6 oz wet. I'll check in a bit.

Busy in the kitchen again today as well!
Gummies on the way! I'll throw some updates over in the cooking thread shortly.

Alright.... final change of my day...
I'm trying to maximize every bit of space I have, so today's upgrade was to remove the "mamas attic" shelf from above my plants so I can mount the lights on the ceiling. Trying to increase lighting footprint and maximize the versatility in the heights I can set them.
Here's what I started with:
And after I reworked everything:
I think all I have left to do is remove the little veg cabinet to free up the last bit of available square footage. I'm using it all for this grow!
:high-five:
Now that BG is down, the lights went back to 20/4 and everything will stay in the main grow area until they're done.

Stay lifted y'all

Looks good man. You'll be able to grow some monsters like @Van Stank now lol

Thanks y'all!
:thanks:
I'm really pleased with the way this new shed is turning out. I've finally got a bunch more control over the environment.

Some people have nice cars.... I dont drive. LoL This little shed is my "Cadillac"
It's my happy place.

Can't sleep?
Lights went back to 20/4 in the shed today. I've been anxiously checking temps until I know how everything is running with the added heat. Woke up thinking I forgot something out there.
Headed back to bed now....

Ahhhh later bud
Wake up call is in 3 hours.... ugh! And the kids have a half day at school so I will be blessed with their presence all afternoon. LoL

Good thing I'm making gummies first thing this mornin' after I put them on the bus!
:high-five:

Wow 103 pages. I cnt read all that but i am interested in what you leds are. 2x 1000w ????

In the 1st entry it doesn't tell you the light model

I've got viparspectra 300w. I'm buying the 600w viparspectra tonight and another 1 in a few weeks. That will give me a solid 1000w minimum.

The 300w produced good buds for me but didn't gain massive height. Just a few chunky buds..

Anyway look forward to keeping up with the rest of this grow

Welcome!

No sense in trying to read back through the journal. LoL.... I ramble. You found a good starting point as i have just started a new group!
:high-five:

Glad to have ya!

The 2 LED's I started with were "no-name" knock off lights. I have since upgraded to 2- 600 watt HPS fixtures. The results are drastically different.
Now i just have to chase heat issues around. LoL

Green days!

I am gonna be getting some LED's but i dont think ill be dropping the HPS especially not when winter gets here.

Ooooo heat problems. That is all about circulation. Can you get any cold intake down there. There's always a cold spot to drain somewhere. I found my basement rather cold so it was fine, temp wise i ha e been lucky.

How drastic was quality from led to hps. I really do not want hps set up. No I'd sooner triple up on leds I think. I have looked at the diff between white led and red blue spec versions. I may go with a white one in the future.

What is the penetration difference with lights. I wouldn't want all that heat in my tent though tbf

Love your happy place brother! I love it! Congrats on the harvest!

My heat problems are minimal now. I built this shed to accommodate the lighting without getting too hot. But, I could see how it would get real hot in a tent.

That being said.... the results were crazy in comparison. I never knew a dense bud until I grew under these HPS.

My recommendation... LED's are great! Just don't buy cheap. Quantum Board is another route... but expensive.

Qb132s I've been looking at. But they look like you rig them together yourself so I'll have to look into them more but there white led arnt they..

Sounds like your hyped about the hps.. pissed me off. Cause things are never as good as the originals haha. I really think leds are the future.

Keeping hps and ballast setup is like running coal instead of solar

Now that would be cool. Riggin your kit up to solar power

Hey there, just wanted to weigh in here. LEDs vs HPS a debate that has raged for a while and will continue as long as the cheaper LEDs are on the market.

I started off not knowing how long I would be growing for (started due to a back injury that I am still dealing with 2 years later) so I didn't want to throw a lot of money at it if it 'wasn't for me'. I bought a Mars LED and Viparspectra, both pulling about 280 watts from the wall so about 560 watts. The coverage was for a 4'x4' tent and worked ok. The first grow yielded about 14 ounces and good quality but I knew I was hooked.

I started planning to upgrade my lighting as my brother (who grows commercially) recommended I do from the get go. I ended up going with a top of the line LED and I can tell you its a game changer. Instead of pulling .7 grams per watt like the couple grows, I am pulling closer to 1.3 grams per watt. I have zero heat issues with my LED and the coverage can't be beat.

Quality LEDS aren't cheap but they are far more efficient than HPS and the technology has come a long way in the last couple years. If you are going to do this long term, my advice for you would be this. Save your money up for a high end LED (take a look at quantum boards as well) and skip buying multiples just to get more watts. Not all watts are created equal. I went from averaging 3 ounces a plant up to 6+ ounces per plant to include pulling a pound off a single Northern Lights plant. I am getting almost 2 pounds out of my 4x4 instead of reaching to try and get a pound. HUGE DIFFERENCE in the buds and overall quality.

If I could go back and do it all over again, I would have listened to my brother and bought the high end LED from the start. Now I know not everyone has money to throw at their grows. It took a while to save up enough for the light but now I have more meds than I had before and I have extra for friends who are happy to compensate me for my efforts. Win win. Just food for thought. You have to find what is going to get you the buds you want WITHIN your budget. I just don't want to see you making a similar mistake to me if its avoidable. Goodluck with your choice.
