Tead's Indoor-ish, Winter, Hempy, OGK, SOG

I just got my hands on some new seeds. UltraDog regs.
Put 2 of them down as a replacement already.
I actually have quite a few seeds running around from my previous order, but the UltraDogs have promise of working well in a hot humid garden.

:laughtwo: UltraDawg is what I'm smoking right this very minute. Lol! Good choice.

Here's the background data on the UltraDog.
Names changed to protect the guilty....

Here's the break down. In 1999 my old lady's son was and still is friends with one of the biggest commercial growers in So Cal. He gave me two clones of Original Clone Only O.G. Kush and two clones of M.K. Ultra. Over the next two years I crossed the two to make Ultra O.G. Then Purple Urkiel hit and every buddy went Purple Crazy, so I ordered some Aurora Indica from Amsterdam and bread that in to the Ultra O.G. to make my personal strain Aurora Ultra. Then in 2006 I was given five ChemDawg 91 X Soma NYCD ( New York City Desiel ) seeds, all those seeds turned out to be male. One of the male plants was the most beautifully semetric plants I have ever seen. I was like the most beautiful 4 ft tall X-Mas tree you ever seen. I took that plant and put it in my dining room Bay window and let it make pollen. Then I pollenated one branch of every strain I had going at the time. Grape Ape, Jack Herer, Aurora Ultra, a really bitchen Unknown, and some others I cant think of right now. I ended up with a shit lode of seeds I will never use all of, so I mailed some to different friends on 420 of which Dudexyz was one of. At the time Dudexyz was growing Landrace only. He took the seeds I sent him and crossed in the two different Landrace strains. So all the lineage in the UD's are straight up Original Old School Refer. When Dudexyz says Chem phenom or O.G. phenom that just means they haven't been back crossed for stabilization. So you never know for sure how any one seed will be. So like UD Chem means that plant is more like ChemDawg then O.G. Kush phenom or the Deisel phenom. Unless you stabilize the seeds you never know for sure how the plants will turn out.

Love that strain description. :hmmmm: glad that Ultradog seed came available for you I thought it sounded like a great fit.
Reps as usual for expanding my cultural horizons a little with your journal.
Plants are looking great - the PC seems like it's doing just fine.

Thanks Weas. It's never really about growing for me... I take my pleasure from the side conversations.
Shouldn't we be discussing food?

The PC is a bit of a sprawling mess... stringy and way spread out. I have plans of photographing her under natural light later this morning. Buds are looking great.

I moved my Critical+2.0 into the bloom room. She got a good defol and some clone cutting before I moved her. This plant has really done great. If her clones root easily, she might be a perfect fit in my world. She's very reminiscent of her Critical+ mother strain that I was previously growing.

Hey man, I'm glad you got those UD beans. I hope you're gonna find a good pheno to run with. They've been grown indoor already. When flowered very early they looked like that.

Yep anything below 95% germination ratio would be a disappointment I'll say.

I'm at 100% germ rate using just perlite and water so far. I ran into a wall with the other methods... seems my world is just too warm.

Speaking of which.... let's peek at some sprouts and such...

UltraDog... just saw it for the first time this morning.

Humidity is way down... temps are still staying high, but some cooler weather is due.

Welcome little ones. :circle-of-love:

+Reps on the germination rate. What a relief to find something that works consistently for you, eh? I think I may have figured it out myself and I'm almost at the point where I don't stress about it but anticipate success.

Yes.... yes it sure as hell is. I've had germination and cloning challenges over the years. It's all temp related of course... but very frustrating. You see people popping seeds in various ways left and right around here. Seems like such a simple thing.... but has been such a challenge.
Meh.... who cares... that problem is just another bit of water under the bridge.
Of course, there are some special challenges to sprouting in perlite. The seeds are not held in place very firmly in the perlite, so they tend to dance around occasionally when the tap root pops out and starts pushing the seed leaves up.
All in all, I sure am digging the 100% germ rate. It's funny how every individual grower falls into a world that works for them.... I mean, you really wouldn't think there are so many variables to screw with, but there really are... and almost every individual grower here is in some unique configuration. Blows me away.

Happy Birthday SNL. Apparently today is it's 41st birthday. I remember staying up late to catch it way back during it's first season.
There's an article in the local newspaper with words about when they tried to do a live show during Mardi Gras. One can't properly understand the utter insanity of this idea without living thru a Mardi Gras season or two down here. While I applaud them for their efforts, the episode had huge production issues that showed during airing.

Questions Tead- how deep is that tray, and how often/deep do you top up the water?
I've been having fairly good luck with my perlite clones. Seems like the perlite is fluffy and aerated enough yet wicks moisture so well that stagnation and rot is that much less likely. :thumb:

It's a small greenhouse for the jiffy peat pellets. The black tray bottom is about 2 inches high. I put a hole in the side so it only holds about 1/2 inch of water. I treat it like hempy pot. I give it a daily flush... but it only requires a few ounces.
I think the daily flush is an important factor. When I was trying it without the hole in the side, the water would get crappy and grow nastiness.
It's working quite well, but the whole thing is so small that the girlies outgrow it quickly. I've gotta get those girls into pots today or tomorrow.
